OK this is just playing Merciless 1.5 Beta for an hour, after playing Warspace 1.75 Classic from Start to finish. I quit playing Merciless 1.5 Beta when I couldn't put the Arc thrower in the pistol slot.
The Plasma weapons cause to much fire damage and blocks doorways so you can't proceed further.
Why would "Opportunist" be the first sniper perk??? Headshot or snapshot should be the first two perks. It looks like squad sight is given by default but works intermittantly.
The laser sight tech info image is the alien grenade.
The aircraft abort button is delayed to much, takes 2 to 3 seconds before disengaging.
The chance of shootdown with Avalanch missles is to low, went 4/4 scout UFO's destoyed rather than shot down, had to reload a save.
The Enemy overwatch accuracy is WAY to high and with a pistol yet. Hit all four of my guys every time for 3 turns straight.
And this was just the first hour.

b) Plasma actually deals less environment destruction then before other than that it has been unmodded in regards to setting up fire in the doorway, that would have still happened in Warspace/Vanilla
c) Headshot and Snapshot ONLY work for sniper rifles, and because all classes can use all weapons it didn't make any sense to grant Snipers Sniper rifle only perk choices, because that would have defeated the point in granting them more weapon chocies
d) all extra items have their tactical info image as the alien grenade, that's why it's still in beta
e) the Abort button is un-modded and working as intended like vanilla
f) if Avalanche is blowing up UFOs constantly the detonation value needs tweaking
g) enemy overwatch obey the same -20 aim penalty so you just got very unlucky

If you want a version of Merciless that's less intense I can start working on multiple varieties of Merciless to cater to different tastes, however I tend not to design these variants unless I've been requested to do so.

Maybe but I don't remeber plasma weapons starting fires only explosives. I see a lot more collateral damage in this mod, could that be it?

Your kidding right? Snapshot is an early Heavy perk, so there is no need for the Sniper. I will just field all Heavy Snipers with an Aaron Rogers arm.

Its not unmodded the Plasm bolts fire at least 3 times faster in this mod.

Cannon works Good.

Never did that in Warspace, and could someone explain that stupid High Cover 40% aim penalty when I am at the same level or even higher using Archangel armor?
