@bhlaab and demonbunny
Are you using any mods that alter the beginning of the game? I can't think of anything else that would cause the problems.
The Doctor Li and Dad thing is normal.. that's the "dream" sequence I refer to. But the other problems, I'm at a loss for.
Try moving QuickStart.esp further down the load list and see if that fixes things. If not, I'll see what can be done.

this is very useful when starting a new game just to test something, compatibility, etc...
would you be persuaded to perhaps make an alternate version of this, that flat out start you right outside the vault, ala fallout 1? (with a really cool fade from black effect, before being greeted by the harsh sun!)
it would save me more time, as I'm always just headed to megaton to test something, and well, it would be appropriate.

So... is there a way to grab the medicine bobblehead? or is the user SOL?
EDIT: Scratch that. I didn't realize the bobblehead can also be obtained in "Escape!"

Thanks for this. An experienced player doesn't need vault 101.

@Dhojo: Well if the description is right the special book is on your bedrooms desk, right where you start.

CG = character generation; sometimes abbreviated "chargen"

I once made a similar mod for myself because I got tired of going through the childhood start on countless restarts of the game. Using saves doesn't work due to heavy mod changes and subsequent instability. Lost my mod ages ago and this does the job just as well. Hopefully, by the time Fallout 4 comes out Bethesda will have learned that most players only need to go through the starting quest once or twice and thereafter should have a built in option to bypass it.
