Now I'm pissed that this project isn't for co-op Elder Scrolls. I could see a TES MMO growing naturally out of a co-op version over [a long] time, but I feel like this release is just going to be another cookie-cutter MMO with the rights to using TES models/lore. This project wants to be a badass genre-cyborg, combining the manly, one-player setting of Tamriel with the wave-motion machine that is the modern MMO, but it's looking more like a... human centipede, I guess. Let's just hope the fans aren't the caboose.

Comon, the Gatekeeper in Oblivion was more interesting than that. That thing looks like it's power is the ugly kiss of death, a comidic move from the Shrek franchise. But those two don't look or act anything alike. The Morrowind one looks like that because of a lack of technology back then. Look at an orcs face in Oblivion and Skyrim. Do you see the direction they went. More menacing, more believable. That ogrim up there looks like someone took Barney the Dinosaur's sister and genetically mixed it with a Dinosaur from Dinosaurs the old sitcom. Because of tech limitations on MMOs most of them go a little comical so to keep the world together and organic even though it actually isn't. Or they have a budget limitation like Kingdoms of Amalur. I'm sorry, I won't forgive the WoW toonish style they've put on ES. I would have preferred Oblivion's graphics to be honest.

Modding can coexist with MMOs. Look at Diablo II. The MMO wasn't in the game world, but in the community. MM part is community driven. Why do you think there was a drive for community driven content in MMOs some time ago (CoH Architect, PvPvP MMOs, there was a whole seminar for it). I think it would do the industry a service to remember that MMOs are community driven, and to gear for them instead of against them with these constant class balancing patches.

The realism people were expecting isn't in how intense the graphics are. What people are expecting is to retain the organic feel. When you look at the attack animations and behavior of characters in ESO, it's all exaggerated. The drive for realistic immersion is gone. And in some ways I felt more immersed in Oblivion than Skyrim. I think the Tropical Skyrim proved that graphics aren't the draw when it comes to immersion, but how organic the environment feels.

Both of them matter. Graphics, well, the style of such, rather than the actual technology, and the movements and animations. I wouldn't download Tropical Skyrim though, it's more out of personal taste...and also immersion breaking for me. :P I don't doubt that some like it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it proves something like that. At least not to the majority of people.

Why yes, I do agree about that i can't have two opinions about coop and no-multiplayer at all.

However, I do find coop to be way more enjoyable than MMOs. At least then you KNOW which ones you are playing with.

I just hate MMOs pesky ''friends request'' s*** and ''trade'' things. Not to mention the crowded chats.

Elder Scrolls Online will be great at ONE specific thing. Breaking your immersion due to all annoying friends requests from total strangers, the stupid ''wanna trade'' things and not to mention trolls! Let's not forget about those!

Wow, cynic much? Personally, I lost confidence in you when you said "WoW Orcs." You're STILL referencing that screenshot? STILL? If you had watched any of the latest vids, you would have seen that the orcs are NORMAL. Quite Skyrim-esque. Don't bash games that you obviously haven't been keeping up-to-date tabs on.

ps: here's said video:

Don't reply just to defend a game that you like. No game needs to be defended. It's just as pathetic as console wars. And I didn't "bash" any game, I just didn't follow the "oh my god look at that gorgeous ogre!"-mentality triggered in the blog entry and gave my opintion. After all, that's what comment sections are for. If you don't like my opinion, that's fine with me. If you are confident enough, it won't have any effect on your gaming experience anyway. After watching your linked video, I still don't like the art / design choice of the game (especially the generic elves), nor the whole concept. U mad now?

ZeniMax Media Inc is the parent company but there is a subdivision ZeniMax Online which is doing ESO.
