@ CamradYurity - Holy crap, you hit the nail on the head.

I've been saying it for years. Bethesda knows people are gonna keep buying their games no matter what, so they don't bother putting all their heart and effort into their games.

Look at Skyrim: The main quest line is incomplete, the faction quest lines aren't nearly as interesting or fun as the Oblivion quests, the mighty, awesome dragons are in fact quite underwhelming. Oh, and then there's all the shoddy features that modders have had to repair or improve.

Bethesda has made hundreds of millions off these games, just frickin' once it would be nice for us to actually get our money's worth.

Traps...abandonment? They released two large DLC's for the game, and though I'm disappointed they will not release a Thalmor DLC, I completely understand why they did it. They have other games to code and direct limited resources towards, right now TESO and Fallout 4 are their priority over an almost 2 year old game, and that is as it should be.

"modders can make up their own endings to the story, and if enough of these endings are available for download, users can decide how they want their own immersive story would end."

Good point, but what about console gamers? They paid the same price as PC gamers, but they don't get to enjoy unofficial patches, improved graphics and expanded content. Console gamers get stuck with a buggy, unfinished game.

@ lordlunacy - are you suggesting that Bethesda can't afford to make FO4 AND make another Skyrim DLC to properly finish the civil war story? Do you have any idea how much money they have made off their games?

@EnigManic
I know it's not the most polite thing to do, but please allow me to quote myself:

I know, I'm outnumbered on this one, but I rather like that there isn't an ending to the game, as far as the Thalmore is concerned.

The above statement were for my own taste. I have a computer with a lot of mods. I'm sorry, but the console gamers have little interest to me.

But just to put something substantial in this post, I don't have any endgame altering mods in my list, nor do I want it. I like that I don't have an ending that is set in stone.

Duly noted, though I must point something out. The main quest line is about a civil war. Someone has to win the war, either the Stormcloaks or the Imperials. Someone will rule, either Ulfric, Elisif or the Dragonborn.

There are many of us who took the time to go through the quest line and would like some resolution. And don't forget that an ending to the civil war story is not an ending to the game. There are other quest lines and activities to enjoy. It would be nice to have some closure.

Don't mean to sound dumber then I am, but I seem to remember we* won the war for Skyrim. Yes, we didn't get to see a new emperor, but is it really that important(fully realizing that is a matter of taste...)? As you said it yourself, only 2 choices, Ulfric or Elisif - Not counting myself, I think it would be boring to sit in a throneroom all day(in a game too :P).

I guess you speak of the underlying conflict with the Thalmore. Again, yes, it would be cool, but from my perspective, that is a whole different story. Hopefully it won't be limited to a single country like Skyrim.

* Depending on which side you choose, storming Solitude or Windhelm.

I don't think you sound dumb, you make a good point.

However, the game and the story could certainly be taken further, if not through official DLC, then through mods. If either Ulfric or Elisif become emperor, changes could be applied throughout the game world:

All forts become Imperial/Stormcloak forts.
All Imperial/Stormcloak banners in the game get replaced with the winning faction's banners.
All guards and soldiers in the game adjusted to the winning faction.
and more..

Have you forgotten Fable 3? We got to rule a kingdom, make decisions about the governing of that kingdom and still got to go on quests and adventures.

Beth's logic of the gameworld(or Todd's) is, what you do should have consequences. From that sentence alone, you are absolutely right. No arguments from me. Would have been nice to see a lasting impact on the whole of Skyrim, based on my decisions from a long time ago. The counter point would be, the most of the civil war quest line is rather silly. I mean, this random hat, that haven't been seen for countless of emperors before, is what it all depends on? Really Beth? Was that the best you could do? Oh darn, I think I just missed out on the climax. I haven't played the Fable games, but it sounds like I should have a go at that. Thanks for the tip!
