Alpha Strike

If you are tired of long stalemate shootings and being afraid of trying to flank the aliens because you might trigger more hidden enemies into the firefight, this mod might be for you! You will have the initiative, and you will kick ass!

No comments or endorsements? That's pretty lame. Well, thank you for this mod. Fixes my main problems with XCOM aside from the relentless AI attacking one person all at once. My only problem is I can't change my hosts file in my Windows folder! D: It won't let me open it (not even choose to use notepad). Hopefully steam won't revert the changes when I run the game. Oh, and Ghost.bat isn't in the extras folder.

In response to post #8111620.

Thank you for your comment! :)

Sorry about the missing the GhostStrike.bat file, I have just included it in the 1.1 version.

To open the hosts file I suggest you begin running Notepad in Administrator mode (go to c:/Windows and right-click Notepad.exe, select "Run as Administrator"). Then, within Notepad, click on File - Open and then try opening the hosts file from there.

In response to post #8254594.

Did you uncompress the whole .rar before running the alphastrike.bat file?
Do you have the Steam version of the game?

In response to post #8254594. #8274192 is also a reply to the same post.

Yeah I get the same thing when I run AlphaStrike.bat. I do have the game installed in a different directory and also run this mod from a different directory. I copied the whole mod folder to the game installed directory and still get the below error message. Here is what it gives me, then a pop-up of no files found:

F:\Games\XCOM Enemy Unknown\AlphaStrikeMod>cd extra

F:\Games\XCOM Enemy Unknown\AlphaStrikeMod\extra>modpatcher.exe AlphaStrike.mod

Hi
your mod did not work. I have the Steam Version. When i try to run the modpatcher.exe a little window says "fail @ patching". I also followed your instruction to install, double klick on the alpha strike.bat and i do not know if it run or not because nothing happens.
Finally change the host data with three sentences. Thats the status!

Thankyou for this - new to XCOM EU, and straight away it annoyed me that you could only see the aliens when you were in their weapons range, it seemed, even though you should have line of sight (I mean, I can't see a bunch of Mutons across a bloody car park? seriously?) This little mod makes it much fairer to the player, and if that means more dead aliens then that's a good thing :) Endorsed!
