Hello, i just got Skyrim yesterday, and i've installed Climates of Tamriel (lite) through the Steam workshop along with other mods.   i really like it but the nights are wayyyy too dark for me (i can't see anything!  immersive or not, its too much for me).  On the steam workshop page it said the full version (not lite version) has options for lighter nights like Vanilla skyrim.  So i downloaded the full version from here, but there are no instructions or readme in the zip file on how to install it and then how to choose the different night options?  I'm a noob, i just bought Skyrim yesterday and playing around with the settings, can anyone walk me through how to install it manually and then choose the lighter nights option?  Do i have to unsubscribe & turn off the Steam version of Climates of Tamriel lite?  I tried the nexus mod manager as well but still saw no options for lighter nights? Where do i put the folders in the Zip file?  i see the folders vanilla nights 1-8, but which one do i choose and where do i put that folder?

Thanks in advance!

To make your modding life easy, download the Nexus Mod Manager and install through that.

The latest version of CoT on Nexus has the lightest nights as default. You don't need to select anything else. Be aware that other lighting mods or ENBs may make it darker.

Turn your Brightness up? Wait 24 hours in-game for it to take effect? Don't test it when it's raining (because it will be dark then)?

i waited 24 hours but still have pitch black nights.  This is the default Climates of Tamriel from the Steam workshop that has pitch black nights.  Can someone just explain how to install it manually? I downloaded it from the nexus site, now how do i install it with the lightest night settings?  The readme doesn't explain anything.

I always install manually. =P Just install it, no night options. Default nights are the lightest/have vanilla Skyrim level lightness.

If it is pitch black, wait 30 days (how long it takes by default for the game to reset everything). Still dark? You have conflicts. Make sure you really did uninstall the Steam version, and that you don't have any other mods that affect darkness at night.

You can use NMM is you're really having trouble. I'd never use it (personal choice; I've been installing mods manually for nearly a decade, so I know what I'm doing), but is useful for 'newbies', I suppose. You could also use Wrye Bash to install.

Installing .bsa version manually:
1. Download CoT v3.1. Main or loose files, doesn't really matter. I seem to have installed the 'main'/.bsa version for some reason.
2. Download any CoT DLC patches you need.
3. Open CoT v3.1.
4. Go into the '00 Main Files' folder.
5. You will see one .esm and one .bsa.
6. Select them (click and drag over them so they're both highlighted). Copy them. (Ctrl+C).
7. Go to your Skyrim/Data folder. This should be found somewhere like C:/Games/Steam/SteamApps/Common/ or C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/Common/.
8. Paste the files here. (Ctrl+V.)
9. Do exactly the same for each DLC patch file you downloaded. Those will just have an .esp, so just copy/paste that.
10. Installed! Now you can use BOSS to sort them in your load order.

With the loose files version, you follow steps 1-3, and install the files in 'Core_Mod' and 'Data' as in step 6-8. Ignore all other folders.
