thanks Jeir!  much appreciated.  In the ZIP folder there is the main folder, and also interiors warm, interiors cold, dungeons hazardous, dungeons hardcore, and vanilla night 1-8.  I'm guessing i'll also take the vanilla night .esp file too, right?  The other folders (interiors warm/cold, and dungeons hazardous/hardcore) are not needed, correct?

Nope, ignore the other .esps. The nights, by default, are vanilla level (the night darkness level in the .esm main file are vanilla level). Those .esps just make it darker. =)

Interiors warm/cold are optional - check the images to see if they're what you'd want. I wouldn't suggest using the dungeons ones are they make caves/forts and things pitch black.

Unintsall, reinstall, and select the night option 4 or 5. Beyond that it's not just dark, the lights get dimmer, so even if you have a torch or spell it's hard to see. When you activate the mod, it should ask you how dark you want nights, and how dark you want dungeons.

I also recommend hazardous, not hardcore dungeons.

Thank you guys. Nudedragon, I dont understand what u mean by uninstall & reinstall? Its an .esp file, do u mean delete the file and then put it back in the folder? How does it ask me which night i want? U mean the skyrim loader asks me that when i pick the .esp file? Sorry ur post is a bit confusing, i'm doing this manually, so not sure what ure referring to?

Remove the CoT files you had installed already, and follow the steps I gave you. You will then get CoT with the lightest nights.

By "When you activate the mod, it should ask you..." he meant with the NMM installer, so you can ignore that unless you decide to use NMM.

Didn't CoT came with a NMM installer which allows you to choose night darkness?

It does, although none of the optional nights ever worked for myself for some reason. I had to use Mike Foxes Darker Nights, which was not a bad thing overall as it was to my taste.

Hi.

Can we edit this dark in this mode, without reinstallation?
