I have niftools and can successfully import a .nif file into blender, but i have a question. How can one take a mesh that is already a .nif file and change its shape? I'd like to smooth out Ren's head by increasing the vertices and whatnot, but whenever i import the .nif file, i lose my ability to go into edit mode. If I add a mesh via the add menu, like a cube for example, i can edit again - but only the cube. How do I mess with the shape of the head? :\

I never got the nif plugin to work, but when I imported other models I had the same problem. I remember vaguely that I was able to by selecting a certain point on the object. Notice the black dot in the center of the cube when you start it up? Try to find one of those for the model you import and select it.

Ah there we go, thanks. thought selecting it would be enough but you do in fact have to select the pink dot.
