  1. Do you get an error when it crashes? I had similar issues after game updates, the game just crashed to desktop without any error when quick saving, opening the local map or just running around doing nothing, the problem was that I didn't allow the game launcher to create a new Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini. To do that just remove those two files from My Documents/My Games/Skyrim and open the game launcher to detect your setup again. Are you using BOSS to sort out your load order? It could be an issue also. Careful with mods that require SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) like SkyUI , you should update that too to see if it fixes anything.
  2. I'm shamlessly bumping my own thread, I would really like to see some screenshots without this issue in the same areas I took those earlier :D. Please?
  3. The Witcher 2 demands more raw graphics power rather than CPU as Skyrim, especially Skyrim modded, I know, I have both games :D. It could be that your CPU is failing, try a stress test and see what's up, I used to use IntelBurnTest for this, not sure what can do for you, maybe a google search might turn up better results depending on the manufacturer. I suggest using CPU-Z and see the temperature your CPU runs at while playing (play for about 10 minutes while leaving CPU-Z open and check the min./max. outputs at the bottom, maximum safe temperature for prolonged use is about 75 degrees Celsius under 100 percent load). S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat is another CPU and RAM hungry beast, maybe if you have it you could try and see if it happens with it too. Good Luck! P.S. Is by any chance your CPU overclocked? Mine was when I bought my new videocard and I had to restore the default clock speed when my PC (well usually it gave me a driver crash before it crashed the whole setup) auto-restarted after a few minutes of playing Skyrim, the problem was my Power Supply Unit, it didn't give enough power for both my new videocard and my overclocked CPU, so until I bought a new PSU I had to play with default clocks so it wouldn't crash. Could be that some background application is interfering with the game too, Skyrim is very picky when it comes to that too, maybe do a clean up of your registry using some software like CCleaner or TuneUp Utilites. EDIT: There are Beta drivers for your videocard that release every so often (for nvidia at least) and one of those fried my card a while back, never gonna do that again that's for sure, if you have an Nvidia card download the latest WHQL driver and pick the Custom installation option, at the next screen tick the ''Perform a clean install'' option at the bottom, also I would suggest not installing the 3D Vision drivers because they're known to have stability issues, especially if you don't have a 3D Vision setup. Also, Oblivion modded is a CPU hog too, mate you should really check that CPU of yours out, maybe take the PC to a repair service or call a friend who knows his way around a PC.
  4. Did you try earlier save games? It happens that a save can become bugged beyond belief.
  5. Actually it was doing this with both 1.8 and 1.7 and probably even before I just didn't notice it like I do with ENB now, it's really ugly xD, and yes with multiple characters too. Weirder even, that in other parts it works fine, there used to be this issue in front of Whiterun entrance, but now it works there and it's present around Solitude of all places... I give up, I just removed everything from my Data folder, all the mods, custom meshes and textures, SKSE, ENB and Post Process Injector, repatched the game, it's as vanilla as it can be, even started over with a new character and that crap is still present... I'd try a reinstall if I didn't get this gut feeling it's gonna have the exact same effect. If anyone thinks that I should still post my mod list (feeling lazy writing everything I have right now) after all this I'd be happy to, but I believe it's irrelevant since it's doing it with the vanilla assets too. Could it be that it's an engine problem and we just didn't notice it? P.S. Here's a few examples of the same textures acting differently in the same cell (vanilla): http://i.minus.com/ibhw3oevUlYwrg.jpg http://i.minus.com/i8xPHJLcAe7ZZ.jpg http://i.minus.com/iwdWcK4yXUmqG.jpg http://i.minus.com/igTBkLKmnH77i.jpg EDIT: Just finished reinstalling the game and did a clean install of the new Nvidia WHQL driver... yep this crap is persistent... I wonder, is anyone else having this issue? I wouldn't mind some screenshots where the issue isn't present in the same locales I posted (the farm just up the road from Solitude harbor and Whiterun entrance area), just to be sure I ain't trying in vain where there's an actual engine problem rather than my end. Cheers!
  6. Here's what's going on, after I started using ENB series which made some of the lights in game more prominent I started noticing one of the weirdest issues which I couldn't find a fix for on my own, I suspect normal maps problem, but since the vanilla textures are acting exactly the same it surely is something else... The lights from torches and other static light sources don't show up on some of the terrain textures for some reason: http://i.minus.com/ib1H6kEH40fcau.png http://i.minus.com/iqlF440LMRRib.png I tried the following: Removed all texture mods; Updated and rolled back video card drivers (Nvidia); Tried different ground texture packs with normal maps; Let the launcher create new Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini; Absolutely no change, even weirder, the light from candlelight spell is showing up fine. Could someone, please, explain what the heck is going on? Much appreciated. Cheers!
  7. -Snip- EDIT: I finally fixed the damned issue. Here's what I changed in SkyrimPrefs.ini (located in ''My Documents/My Games/Skyrim''): iBlurDeferredShadowMask=30 fShadowDistance=3000.0000 iShadowFilter=4 bShadowMaskZPrepass=1 iShadowMapResolution=2048 fShadowBiasScale=0.3500 iShadowMaskQuarter=4 Hope it works for you too, cheers!
  8. Same here, it starts to rain and in a very short while it stops, seems like the rain is divided into three parts, for example: -rain start -heavy rain -rain end But each of these parts are lastink for like 1-2 seconds, why?
