  1. Edit - Never mind! Sorry about that people, feel free to lock/delete this thread :)
  2. There is a wealth of new content and assets in the new DLC, Far Harbor, that I would love to mess with and make mods using some of it's assets. Problem is, I would rather avoid other people needing Far Harbor if I were to use some of it's assets. So I have to ask, if I were to make a mod that uses Far Harbor assets, would it be taboo to separate them from the DLC, and make them independent of it? Stuff like models, textures, and sounds mostly. What if they were partially or totally modified? I want to be sure before I start doing anything, so be honest so I'll know which way to take things. Thank you for any reply!
  3. Does anyone know how to toggle the pipboy light on and off with a script? I'm trying to fix a bug in one of my mods. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12363/? It's a mod that adds tacticle flashlight mods to the game to be added to your weapon. It mostly works, but there are some bugs. The main one is putting away your weapon causes the light to point away from center strangely, though that makes some sense since you put put your flashlight in your pocket essentially. The second is that there are multipile colors that the flashlights can be, and switching to differant weapons with differant color flashlights causes them to keep the color of the gun light from the previues gun, until you turn it off and on again. This video does a great job showing what I'm talking about, a spotlight video that pointed out the bug. https://youtu.be/hEQ6Z2BNJZ8?t=11m3s These are likely all engine related quirks with basicly applying a headlamp to a gun. In fact, looking the files there are gunlamp models Bethesda never used (and they're ugly stretched out power armor lamps, must not have gotten far in development). Anyway, the only solution to this problem that I can think of is a script applied to the gun (when you add the weapon mod) that turns off the flashlight when you holster your weapon or swap weapons. I'm not sure how to do that, I think the best way to check for those conditions is to check for playing animations, but besides that I don't know if you even can toggle your flashlight (pipboy or otherwise) with a script, anyone know a trick for this?
  4. Well when messing around with a new version of SkyEdit today I noticed that each Race have specified equip slots and body parts. The dog only has a right hand equip slot and no body slots. However, normal player races don't seem to need to specify a head slot or head part so it may be something else, but I thought it might be an area to look into in case no one has any other ideas.
  5. Well the simple answer is that there isn't a simple way, so I made a mod to help you out. http://www.mediafire.com/?ffremct7cxcjg5y There is a popular mod that hides several helmet types that you should look at, but the Shroud Helmet isn't one of them. I hope I added the right version because I actually never played the Dark Brotherhood quest line yet (did the other guides oddly enough). If you don't know how to use it look into the Nexus Mod Manager.
  6. Hello, this was the best place I could think of to go. There are a couple of mods I use for a few of the games I have, like the FXAA injector and FPS Limiter. In case some people aren't familiar, they are d3d9.dll files that go into the game's main directory and hook into the executable at launcher, applying their effects. These two are popular when it comes to Skyrim, and indeed I want to use them for Skyrim but because of how they work I can only use one or the other. I've been using the FPS Limiter because my computer doesn't have the snuff to play the game at 60+ and I would rather have a constant framerate then a highish one that's all over the place. I would also like to use an enhanced FXAA (using default currently) to improve visual quality and potentially add some other post processing effects (also, there is the matter of FXAA 4 that will be coming out). Long paragraph short, is there a way to launch multiple d3d9.dll hooks into the same game at once? I've heard of launchers that do that for specific games, but I haven't seen one for Skyrim. Also I would like one to work passively, as in all I have to do is launch the game (I have no problem is using a .bat file for this, do it all the time for games I don't have in Steam). For anyone who can help, thank you in advance.
  7. You can set them manually at the Deadly Reflex INI in "Oblivion\Data\INI\DeadlyReflex". Once you find the section you'll see a link that will tell you what to change the numbers to. Also, I recommend you have "set scc.resetMod" to 1 so all characters have their keys set manually, plus it seems to help with problems that sometimes crop up with key arrangements (consequently, you should also have "set scc.giveDrResetItem" to 0 since it's not needed anymore). The only problem with the reset always being on is that it'll say "Thank you, you are ready to play" in the corner every time you get on, but that's far from a problem for me at least.
  8. Also, make sure you removed all the animation files added by Deadly Reflex, located at "Oblivion\Data\meshes\Characters\_Male" and "Oblivion\Data\meshes\Characters\_1stperson" and any other files you can find, but make sure they're from DR6 only.
  9. Not sure if this will help, or if you've even done this or not, but make sure your not in a location added by BC, but try to place your character into an unaltered vanilla space and wait for 3-5 days, this clears the save of some cashed data and is a standard procedure. Now, perform the instructed uninstall procedure. Hope that helps, also it's very strange because recently I've been in circumstances that has had me toggling the use of BC and I never ran into problems, I didn't even disable it ingame first. Also, it might be a good idea to throw away all items BC might have added, although those should be removed automatically anyways. I hope this helps.
  10. Thank you for the links (I have the Natural Weather unofficial patch by the way), and thank you all for your help, but I think I may have found my problem (although, from what I can tell I had other problems you guys helped a lot with). Believe it or not, it was the 1st Person Legs mod that Deadly Reflex requires (not really luckily). I noticed I crashed commonly when getting on and off a horse, which in some cases I used to see if my game still crashed (that or killing a whole city, which is also reliable). I was trying to wrap my head around that specific crash, why it would crash there instead of thinking it was part of the whole problem. I tried uninstalling MMM's slof's horse and that didn't work, but then I realized something. Every time you got on and off a horse you went into 3rd person and back to 1st, and every time that happened the "legs" were equipped, so I though why not take that mod out and see what happened. After I did that it no longer crashed; going back and putting it back in made it crash again, and I also found out it crashed when rapidly toggling 3rd and 1st person modes. Now, that's nice, but then I realize why it would crash in other points in the game, say, fighting. When fighting, it wouldn't be uncommon for me to get knocked down or fall down, which takes me into 3rd person, sometimes this happens rapidly. After removing the mod I got into an epic fight with everyone in town (had a spell that made me have effectively unlimited health [did that instead of god mode because DR says god mode can @#$% with the scripts]). After the fight (it was a long fight, like 20 minutes because for some reason the guards just kept coming!) there was no crash. I'm not sure if this solves every problem, this wouldn't explain the crashes while travailing (although I haven't experienced those lately so maybe other things we did helped that [although there is this weird thing the game does where it randomly goes into 3rd person for no apparent reason, so that could be it]). I need to play around more, but don't expect me to say too much more tonight because it's 7 in the morning and I didn't go to sleep, so good night yall! Thank you all again for more help then I hoped I would get.
  11. I guess it can't hurt, just take a lot of time to get Oblivion moved. By the way, I disagree, Windows 7 was made with video games in mind (at least in part, business is still the most important priority for Microsoft), all 3D apps run much better on Windows 7 then XP on the same machine from what I've personally seen (and even bench-marked), although I don't think it was made with games like Oblivion in mind when it's so modded with all it's unpacked files that are being edited all the time (I think Linux is better with that). Sorry, off topic. Anyways, I'll try what you say and report back, except I'm keeping Streamline unless you know a magical way to make Better Cities much less laggy without it (FPS patches help some, not completely). I know I don't need it but the detail helps the world feel new and different. The odd thing is that when it lags it doesn't peak out my graphics card, ram or (I think, hard to measure) my CPU so it might be an engine limitation (if only we could port Oblivion to the Skyrim engine when it gets finished). Thank you for your help. Edit Well, I tried moving Oblivion (I moved it and adjusted the directory in the registry, probably should have reinstalled, will try later), removing Salmo and even Streamline and no avail. I'll leave the first two as they are just in case. I've been scratching my head from the start, but soon I'll have a bald spot. I'm still going to test around, I hope it's not a problem with my system itself.
  12. It IS every few minutes, if it was every 30 minutes or higher I could deal with this, but it seems like removing OBGEv2 and DRsplater at least solved the crashing on exit issue, I haven't crashed in game yet but haven't had time to test for very long, I think I'll play for a while after I get the chance. If this works, thanks a lot Telyn. Edit I think it may be better, and I don't get the crash on exit anymore, I still crash randomly, but I'm not sure about as often. Any more advice would be appreciated, and the advice given is already helpful, thank you all.
  13. I am concerned that Windom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System is not working, and it makes me wonder if OBSE is working correctly. I know OBSE is working, mostly because functionality such as hot-keys for DR still work and some of my mods freak out with messages if it's not on (I know, I started the game without it just to see) You will be able to tell if it is working if when you exit the game the game does not crash but you hear a beep (possibly two beeps). I don't use Fast Exit 2, so I am not sure whether the two are compatible but I think I have seen both in people's mod lists. I just tried removing FastExit2 to see if it helped, nope. I think the crash on exit is a windows 7 thing, since the game wasn't made for it. Running in XP mode helps, but made a long pause when throwing weapons in DR so I didn't bother, I don't care about the crash on exit much, I know it can point to a greater problem but I don't think it does. Is OBGEv2 working? You should be able to tell whether that one is. BTW, some people do experience crashes with OBGE. You may want to consider that while troubleshooting. I wonder if the beta OBSE is causing you problems. Is DropLitTorchOBSE working properly? Really...I think OBGE is only needed for blood-spatter on screen, so I might try removing that and the blood-spatter part of DR and see if it helps, I know it's on by the way. The torch mod works, but the hot-key thing is adds can remove torches from my inventory without equipping them or dropping them, but I digress. Can't help you with the overhauls since I don't use any overhauls but textures. Oh well, thanks. What does stuff, esp do? Have you tried without it? That shouldn't be a problem, all it does is add some custom weapons (none of which I've been using) and makes the Dramora Race playable, all them self made. Should not be a problem at all. No Wrye Bash bashed patch? Some Cobl mods must be bashed in. I don't recognize some of yours, so not sure if that applies. I avoided those because quite frankly I tried to use WB and the patch didn't turn out well, so I just didn't install those features. Also, i don't know how to use Bash so...I'm not taking the time to learn, it's not necessary (although it is a powerful tool for sure).
  14. Well the funny thing is that they aren't replicatable, even if I do the exact same thing the exact same way it may not crash. I haven't had save or area transition crashes to be honest. Anyways, I'm still playing around with stability and mod count to see what I can find, it's starting to seem like Deadly Reflex (also, I realized I was missing some compatibility patches for Better Cities, but that didn't help the crashes :P). Do you have any advice that might help with problems pertaining to Deadly Reflex 6? I LOVE that mod to be quite honest, if you have any advice that would be great.
