  1. Can the Creation Kit or SkyEdit create or edit the new Bethesda extensions?
  2. I like Julianos, Nocturnal (which is a Daedra I think), Speaking of Daedra, I like Hermaus Mora above all. He/It is very Lovecraftian and who doesn't like all that power?
  3. I've been playing the ES series for a long time and have loved role-playing games of all types for over 30 years. So, when I play Skyrim I like to develop my PC with a history, personality and other things to make that playthru unique. I want to share a few things because they could make your next PC someone truly immersive. First, I my PC is always randomly chosen. I use a random number generator app to decide what race and sex I will play. For instance, a 1 would be Argonian, a 2 would be a Bosmer and so on up to 10. Then if the next generated number comes up with an even number, the PC will be female, odd will be male. I then use an Android app called RPG Generator, an app normally used for D&D and other table RPG's, and it randomly assigns a personality and alignment (good, neutral, evil, lawful, chaotic) to the PC, as well as a personality, interests, family history, and other details to make the PC more in-depth. While I'm playing, I keep all these factors in mind in everything it does. I also use the mod, Take Notes, to record these things because it helps flesh out my PC's journal entries as I write them during play. I use Alternative Start Live Another Life, but before I choose my start, I use the mod Character Creation Overhaul to randomly determine my PC's class, and major and minor skills. This allows the same structured flexibility as Oblivion when it comes to classes, including having a customized class. When the class and specializations are set, I choose a random beginning for my character. I do have to watch that the beginning chosen matches with my PC's class and character. If it doesn't I might go back and try again , or even choose myself. Then, when the PC is set in Skyrim, I already have all these elements to pull from in order to truly role-play a character. Everything from companions, quests, behaviors, and skills all fall in line with what this PC is. I also do a couple things while playing that make things interesting. First, I do not choose perks from skills that are not part of the PC"s major or minor skills chosen in the beginning. So that means only these 6 skills have perks for me to choose from, the rest are ignored. That adds to the flavor of the PC. Another thing is that whenever a bandit or other NPC is killed, I use the random number generator again before I take their weapon and/or armor. Since there is no weapon or armor degradation in Skyrim like older ES games, I use this to tell me if the equipment on a bandit is ether broken/useless or if the PC can take it to sell. This makes it so that the PC does not get too rich, too fast. It would be great if there was a mod that would randomly determine if a bandit's equipment had been broken or made unusable during combat, but this suffices for now. I also miss repairing my PC's equipment. I wish Bethesda would have brought that back instead of giving us a redundant survival mod. I'm sure this all seems like a lot of work, but it keeps the game even fresher and if you love role-playing, some of these things might be a rewarding experience.
  4. Can we mod the .esl files from Creation Club, because my Creation Kit crashes when I add them to the .ini. I went through SSEEdit and added Survival Mode keywords to the new foods in my mod and now the Kit crashes whenever I work on it there and save it. I haven't found anything about it in these forums or at Bethesda.net, but I know I'm not the only one who has asked this, so I must be having some bad luck on this issue. Can anyone point me the right way?
  5. I can't change my password because I forgot my current password. What do I do?
  6. Hello Daniel and thank you so much for responding. I was just looking to see if anyone here could help me since I have not received any answers elsewhere. But thank you for trying to direct me. I sincerely hope I did not bother you too much. And no, there are no .esm's for the DLC.
  7. So I finally broke down and saved up for the Legendary Skyrim with the DLC's. I put in on to install the DLC's but it only gives me the options to either reinstall or uninstall Skyrim. I choose the former, then the latter, then the latter again after no DLC's show themselves. For two hours, I did this, wasting my limited bandwidth with every install. I looked on other forums and made sure my Skyrim folder from the COMMONS folder was deleted, as well as the folder where my saves are and the Appdata folder. I even cleaned my registry with ccCleaner. What gives? Why can't I play the content I spent $40 bucks on? Can anyone please help this frustrated modder/player? BTW I HATE STEAM!!!
  8. Although there are hundreds, if not thousands, of great mods on the Nexus, there are still some things that I, and probably many others, would love to see, but either don't know how or are to lazy to make. I've listed some of these ideas below. Some are ports from Oblivion that deserve to visit Skyrim. Food Spoilage: I know some hunger mods have this, but just having a mod with a single spoilage script would be wonderful. I don't want all the extras of an eating mod, but I would like spoilage to be there for a little realism. Your Inventory is a Backpack: There is a nice mod, Functional Bags, that has the beginning of this script, but it's limited to specific items. This mod gives you a backpack that reduces the weight of the items in it (to a certain maximum) instead of a Carry Weight bonus. Plus, if you are over-encumbered, you push a hotkey and drop the backpack before you enter battle, coming back later to either pick it up or open it. Apachii Goddess Store/God Store: Hopefully, this mod will be carried over someday. It was your one stop shop for new armors and clothing and the proprietors were simply divine! Rebuild Winterhold: So, you become Arch-Mage and begin delving into the secret history of the college. You are shocked and dismayed to discover that the College was (at least partially) responsible for the cataclysm there. To make amends, you begin to rebuild the city to its former glory. This is like Rebuild Helgen, but for mages and probably with some chance to become the new jarl, as well. Attacking costs Stamina: I know mods like Ultimate Combat do this, but again, for the person who doesn't want all the extras, this would add much realism without much hassle. Armor Add-Ons: This mod would add pieces to existing armors that could be bought, crafted and found in the world. So ebony pauldrons, dwemer boot-spikes, and the like could each take the appropriate slots on the PC's body. How about leather shin or knee guards on those armors that leave your sexy legs showing? Portable Invasions: Many house mods (Build Your Own Home, Heartwood Cottage etc.), give you a nice little place to call home in the wilderness. These are great and all, but they should require protection now and then. I loved Tundra Defense's raid system, so something like that by itself would be superb! You place an item, such as a chest, outside your front door, and then your home will be subjected to random attacks with configurable frequencies, difficulties and types. Waalx Animals and Creatures or WAC: This is another perfect mod that needs to visit Skyrim. It was hard to find on the net for Oblivion, but it was soooo worth it. Skyrim already used some of his ideas, like having cages suspended in the air with dead bodies and being able to encounter small, harmless creatures. This mod did so much, completely changing Tamriel, and I imagine if Waalx set his sites on Skyrim....watch out! Enemy Health Percentage: Something that displays the % of an enemy's health remaining when you are in combat with them. Mini-map: A little map in the corner of your screen for interiors so you don't have to go to the map screen. Divine Vows: You vow yourself to one of the Divines and receive a constant effect and better blessings. However, this takes away all the effects of other Altars except for the curing of diseases. You could also fall out of favor with your Divine if you complete quests for certain Daedric Princes. Spell Customization: For a fee, the College of Winterhold will tweak any known spell, increasing its magnitude and/or duration. Call it "Pimp My Spell" lol. A non-lore Lovecraft mod: It doesn't have to have Cthulhu rise from the Sea of Ghosts to attack Solitude, though how awesome would that be to see, but something Lovecraftian in nature, dealing with cosmic horror and insanity-causing terrors would be great! Portable Hole: Just like the old D&D days.... Guards Forget About You: If you have a bounty under a certain amount, it goes away after a while, maybe a few days for stealing an apple to a few months for assault on a non-guard. This isn't a decay where it gets lower, because that doesn't happen in real life, but something to reflect that people no longer care or remember the little things you did. Tundra Defense 2: TD is an awesome mod, but there is so few options for furniture (why can't I have noble furniture!) and it could really be expanded in many different ways. The author already said he would let someone else take it over. There needs to be guards not based on bandits and the inn needs to actually rent a room to you and sell food. The woman who gives you the smelter could actually turn all that ore you get from the mine into ingots for you. Some buyable structures like the grain mill could generate income. Other things, like dwarven structures could attract dwemer constructs and werewolf head posts could attract werewolf raids, maybe the Silver Hand would even stop by. There could be different houses available for purchase, so you can choose from different hold architecture. Companion Keep-Up: Every companion you have costs 50 gold a day, or some configurable rate, just to feed and keep them. Also, they expect part of the loot or they leave. The Listener Listens: If you are the Listener, why do you have to go out and do the killings? Tell one of your new recruits what the job is and collect part of the fee if/when they come back. Start Your Own Guild: What kind of guild? Whatever you want: Adventurers Guild, Bandit Guild, Dragon-Slayer Guild, Vampire Guild, Anti-Thalmore Guild. Find recruits or use other modded companions. Build and customize a headquarters ala Build Your Own Home to whatever theme matches the guild. Radiant quests will keep you busy. Whew! I'm sorry I just have been keeping all this in for the longest time. I always thought I'd have time to do some of these, but I still can't get the hang of Papyrus. I hope I've inspired a few of you to create some of these. I know many people besides me would be very happy and thankful for many of these to see the light of day. Thank you for reading and have a great day/night where you are at!!!
  9. That publishing button got me twice in the last couple days. Here I was fretting that my two newest mods weren't even getting any views, but I didn't know to scroll down to reveal the Publish Mod button. Well, I'm sure it will be a valuable feature.
  10. There is a mod called Death Has Consequences that does something similar. It uses Script Dragon to track your deaths, so even if you reload an earlier save, it still knows that you died. It is completely customizable to allow you to lose gold, attributes and/or skill points after each death and reload. I have played with this mod since it came out a year ago and still love it. I consider the loss of skill and attribute points as injuries that affect my PC from that point on.
  11. I wish it would have, but it didn't work. Thanks though. I did get a hint from Beth forums. Excerpt from the site: "December 20, 2008: Several Vista users have reported bugs regarding the GECK crashing when clicking on items in the object palette list and/or when accessing/editing AI packages. A suggested workaround solution is to disable tablet functionality in Vista when using the GECK. Navigate to "Control Panel" -> "Programs" -> "Programs and Features" -> "Turn Windows features on or off". This last link is found in the left-side pane of the "Programs and Features" window. When the "Windows Features" dialog box appears, unselect "Tablet PC Optional Components", click "OK", and restart Vista. " I guess I'll try this when I can. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
  12. I've posted this on Bethesda's forums but haven't received an answer even though others have recently encountered the same problem. Everytime I click on an AI package, whether attached to an NPC or just in the pull down menu, the CS crashes. It doesn't matter which mod I am working on, it even does it when I start a brand new mod with just Oblivion checked at startup. It happens whether I am running the CS with OBSE and when it is running without it.This has completely stalled my latest mod, something I've been working on for 6 months and I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. How about adding a Video Share tab to go with your image share. A lot of times, I just want to see the most recent videos, but have to go to each file to see if it has a video. Being able to use a tab to acess all the videos posted of uploaded files would be great!
  14. Now that's funny...I just uploaded a mod I've been working on and had to edit several items out of the bsa and then compress it more and more just to get it under the 300 MB. Now, I've uploaded it and I find out I didn't have to...Is that the definition of irony? Well, I hope there is no problems for anyone using a completely compressed bsa. If there is I guess I can upload one that isn't so reduced.
