  1. Ok so this may be a silly question, but I'm just looking for a little clarification if anyone has followed this route . . . If I haven't even picked a side in the civil war quest line, then while I progress through the main quest I will hit season unending, which will call for a truce and possible exchange of holds etc., and as the wiki says 'will be unable to complete civil war quests until the conclusion of the main quest' or something like that. But after the main quest is finished, I should be able to pick a side and do the civil war as usual right? I know some of the holds may be different but the truce will end after the MQ? I'm just being picky and trying to hold off on doing the civil war til the very end, I like having variety in the guards I smash around Skyrim. Thanks for any insight if anyone has played the MQ through before the civil war and tested this.
  2. I'm having the same problem, I have installed some animation replacers but none that should have affecting the cast while running as far as I know. I'll keep trying to sort it out and get back to you, but if anyone knows of a fix to restore selected default animations or can post a link to the original animations etc., please do. Thanks in advance.
  3. TES V is officially out! WELCOME TO SKYRIM!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwuhdhYL8UY DRAGONS!! WOOT!
  4. Kill stuff, get money >> find and buy the nearest/cheapest house >> start stocking my gear shed.
  5. Less than 24 hours to go for official release! Hope everyone gets their copies at their stores or that they're delivered on time during the day Friday! Enjoy!
  6. Also the production of over a million copies of the game takes time, so they may have been produced some time ago to be sure the production count could meet demands and be sent all over the world in time for release. Just another factor that contributes to the day one patch that comes with many new releases.
  7. So as you progress your skills you level up and get to pick a perk, up to 50, at which point you can continue the process but it slows down up to around 70, when you have to stop due to the fact that your skills are all already at 100. Can anyone post confirmation that the jail trick (an old trick that involves getting yourself thrown in jail to degrade skills so that you can advance them again for additional level progress) is out? Also does anyone know if receiving training from npc's has an affect on progression? Is it better to work on skills the old fashioned way?
  8. I also think the concept of dungeons 'locking' will help add variety. Hopefully it won't be an issue with loot, as most of the best loot is either static rare items or top tier armor furthered by smithing etc., which you could just grab from a dungeon you hadn't entered and locked yet. Also the radiant quest system will likely keep sending you to new places, or at least to fight a group of monsters you haven't seen in a while, leaving you the option to revisit old dungeons at your leisure. If the respawn system goes with oblivion, I think dungeons and random world monsters respawned every three in-game days, which seemed to be a good system. If you were working in one area you could clear it and do a quest without running into more mobs immediately, but still allowed you to track down monsters to farm for reagents etc. if you were desperate for materials, or just wanted loot to sell for some other reason. Besides I have a feeling that as you reach higher levels, any monster that re-appears you'll be able to deal with rather quickly. :megafireballtothaface:
  9. Just wondering if anyone knows if the various cities/towns themselves have allegiances to either the Empire or the Stormcloaks. I know for instance that Windhelm is supposed to be an Imperial stronghold as it overlooks Dunmeth Pass leading to Morrowind, but how prevalent is the Empire's presence? Are they more like guilds within the cities or will their soldiers actually control the town? Anyone know anything else about the history and lore of the other cities and which side they might take in the civil war?
  10. Good point, I guess we'll see how it turns out. The other thing I suppose I could do would be invest in alteration, if there is an open lock spell, and see how duel casting that works if my lockpicking skill does not meet the skill check.
  11. I plan on making a sneaky mage/thief character, so obviously picking perks in lockpicking would be beneficial, however I'd much rather invest fully in things like magic, sneak, and other random things like extra pockets. So my question is; do you think lockpicking will be necessary to steal everything? Or will I be able to get by with a high lockpicking skill alone, even if it means I will get caught more often and be lacking in the other benefits of the lockpicking tree? There's also the benefit of extra loot etc. from that tree, but I figure I can just run through more dungeons if I want more gear. Thoughts? Thanks for all feedback!
  12. Cleaning/updating computer to stay busy during down time. Waiting for new video card. Practicing dragon shouts on all UPS carriers/mail men I see. Must. Play. Skyrim.
  13. Going to make an evil Argonian sneaky super-mage. Here's what I've got. (Perk tree SPOILERS ahead, for those who haven't looked at the trees posted above and want to avoid info on them.) First of all going Argonian just because I like that look for an evil character, and I'm going to play him all the way to the end. I have a few skills that are more for fun than focused cohesion, as I'll be powerful at that level no matter what, so some of the trees I just go 1/5 at the start rather than 5/5 to get the more active perks higher up the tree. So here's assuming I max all skills and get a full 70 perk points: Destruction - 15 - No Rune Mastery or Disintegrate (can't throw a pile of ashes off a mountain ). Illusion - 9 - Everything but the 50% magicka perks since I won't be casting it like I will destruction. Conjuration - 8 - Straight summons and no magicka again for the same reason. Speech - 2 - Bribe guards, 'nuff said. Restoration - 9 - This is where I pick up my magicka regen and more powerful heals, no Avoid Death, Ward Absorb, Necromage, or Respite. Enchanting - 4 - Straight from Enchanter to Extra Effect, to max skill/stat buffs on armor etc. Pickpocket - 4 - To pick up Extra Pockets and Poisoned. Archery - 4 - One in Overdraw and then straight to Steady Hand, what can I say, slow-mo head shots are just awesome. Sneak - 9 - Pick up the whole tree with one point in each, just to make stealing and being an all-around criminal a little easier. That brings me to 64, so I have six more points to throw somewhere. Was thinking maybe some into lock picking but I don't know that I'll need most of those if I use my high Sneak in combination with good timing. Would definitely make things easier with some in there but the mini-game never bothered me. So, I figure I'll be able to blast the skooma out of enemies and pull out some fun and cruel tricks on all who oppose me with this build, but where should I put my last six points?
  14. for the life of me i can't get mods to run in oblivion even when they appear active in obmm. I've tried getting obse, changing permissions etc, nothing seems to help. any caveats or ideas as to why active mods wouldn't run? do i need some other file than obmm and the hgec omod to make hgec work?
  15. so i'm running vista and just installed oblivion. trying to mod it and have gone through a number of attempts to make it work. first of all, i am trying to install the eyecandy body replace mod, so i tried extracting it directly to the data file and that didn't work, i tried obmm, got it set up and active, but the launcher still has only the main oblivion file when i go to data to turn mods on. i noticed there is no .esm in the data folder, is that a problem? I heard it wasn't and at any rate, the meshes etc have installed correctly. I've heard of attempting to install it under say C:games, do i just create that folder and put it in there? obmm gives me installation issues when i put the game anywhere other than program files x86. the program file folder shouldn't even be a problem since i have uac off right? anyway, to sum it all up, if anyone recognizes this let me know, i don't know why but even when i appear to have the mods in and permissions set right, the launcher only sees oblivion.esm and nothing else, and the eyecandy mod doesn't load. thanks for the help.
