  1. A save game does not contain 100% of the data the game uses while running. Loading a new game while in showracemenu mode almost certainly carried over some dynamic data from the racemenu state into the loaded game, thus messing up the game. In general, in a case like that it would have been better to quit, then restart the game and load. If you are playing normally, get killed, then reload a state very much like the last one, reloading in-game is a viable option. But the only really safe way to reload is from a fresh game start to ensure nothing is carried over. Quitting, restarting and loading an old save should fix the problem. If it doesn't, then it must have messed up an ini file, most likely the one in the same folder as the saves. If you have a backup of that, you may be able to fix the problem easily. If not, your only real hope is to pick through it and hope you find something that seems wrong. Some mods make ini tweaks, so if you just replace it with a default, you may find some of your mods not working right. Then you'd have to reinstall them all, unless you know what is the source of the problem.
