  1. Reverted to an old .exe and I', back up and running. Only issue is USSEP but they don't keep old versions so meh
  2. I've been running this list without any issues. I never got rid of a mod for crashes, just personal taste and the only crash I had had in two weeks was with Immersive College of Winterhold when I forgot to deactivate a plugin or two for the last part that lets you make Tolfdir the Archmage. 1. RS Children is an esm and should not load after the patch 2. I have never saw a need for a bashed patch but I did try it and it didn't improve stability in my old lists. I haven't added any mods since before the new update. No unexplained crashes and no bashed patch 3. Never had any issues with this being where it is and LOOT doesn't warn me about it 4. When I deleted a script heavy mod I always cleaned my saves with ReSaver. I won't be using your guide but thanks for the advice
  3. How do I reverse my Skyrim? Thanks for the reply
  4. For a good week or two i was having no trouble playing Skyrim. No Crashes I couldn't fix anyway. But then the new update came out (1.5.73.0) and even with the new SKSE build I've begun crashing on start up. I reinstalled all the mods, checked for updates and cleaned what could be cleaned safely but still nothing. Is this because one or two mods in my list isn't updated for the new SKSE version? Here's my mod list. It's been pretty static for a while now give or take a few removals of mods I don't like...
  5. I've been modding Skyrim for a long time and have always suffered from crashes and the like which eventually made me stop modding. I used NMM which was okay but now we have Vortex. I love how it tells me what conflicts or whats missing and with it's help I've been able to run 180 plugins for more than a week with only ONE crash in that time of near constant playing and even then the crash was easily fixed and never happened again. Thank you for this software!
  6. I'm working a mod that covers elements from Skyrim and it's DLC so is it safe to load up Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, hearthfires.esm and Dragonborn.esm and mod them all at the same time? I've removed the restriction in the creationkit.ini so I can do it, I just need to know if I'd be better off applying changes one esm at a time.
  7. I'm looking for a mod that makes vanilla armours look a little less cartoony or high fantasy and go more in line with being functional over aesthetic. A good example of what I mean is Real Bows by Decimus Maximus who remade bows to look more functional.
  8. There's a good chance a lot of you have heard of Ultimate Skyrim, a mod list built and perfected over hundereds of hours by by Belmont Boy who has even shared with us his creation through a series of videos on the linked youtube channel. It introduced a much harsher skyrim not built around the player where planning and preperation was everything. It was built around Requiem and used mods like Frostfall, Campire and iNeed to introduce a survival element to the game, making you consider packing some food and water over stuffing your bag with potions and gear as well as wrapping up warm. Combat is much more risky and with Permadeath Introduced by Dead is Dead, you need to choose your battles though Death Alternative gave you a fair chance at fighting again so long as you didn't go down too many times in quick succession. Since Ultimate Skyrim has yet to come to Special Edition in full I decided to make my own variation of a Roguelike Skyrim that's also highly customizable. So without further ado lets get into the basics of what we'll need. Getting Started SKSE64 - Obviously this will be needed, if you don't install this you'll not be able to use some mods PapyrusUtil SE - Allows you to use a few of these mods The Main Mods Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch - An absolute must in Skyrim modding SkyUI - Any modder who knows what they're doing should use SkyUI as it introduces the MCM (Mod Configuaration Menu) which has been invaluable in the community for years The Choice is Yours - Tired of quests being forced on you? Did reading a book suddenly trigger a quest you don't want cluttering up your quest list? This mod aims to stop quests being forced upon you though there are some exceptions... Mortal Enemies - This mod aims to improve combat AI and also introduce a nerf to the enemies movement while attack in any form. No longer will an enemy be able to turn a complete 180 while using a two-handed forward power attack and gives you an oppertunity to dodge. TK Dodge - This mod is fantastic! The dodge mechanic works wonderfully alongside Mortal Enemies who don't just 180 turn to hit while using a forward powerattack. Now your dual wield character can dodge out of the way and get some damage in while the Bandit recovers from his strike Smilodon - This mod improves combat AI in a number of ways. You could also opt in for the 'realistic damage' optiomal file and make combat much more deadly. I won't go into the changes as they are fairly numerous but trust me, the AI is vastly improved. Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul - An absolute gem of a mod that overhauls the fast travel system by allowing stops at small villages and adding carriages to Dawnstar, Falkreath and Morthal. I'd reccomend disabling fast travel from the map and just immersively use this in your playthroughs. Honed Metal - This mod allows you to ask a Blacksmith or Enchanter to make, upgrade ot enchant gear. Order a full set of Steel Armour, go do stuff for a day and eventually you'll get a courier message saying the order is done or you can just go back and ask if it's done. You can customise how long it takes too. Dead is Dead - This is an extremely hardcore mod. When your character dies, it is dead, and if you want to respect that function I'd suggest deleting all saves relating to him/her when/if you do eventually die. Death Alternative + Captured - With Permadeath enabled I think it's only fair that we have a fighting chance. So long as you don't fall too many times in quick succession you'll get a chance to fight again. When you go down you'll enter a pose similar to that Bandit you beat to an inch of his life and he started crying for 'Mercy', at which time you'll be given a second Health Bar of sorts. If you have followers the enemy will go for them next but if you're alone then each hit while down will lower this bar until you black out. A lot of things can happen, you could be rescued and brought to a nearby inn or found by a bandit who will then proceed to mug you and if you want to stay alive you'd best give him what he wants. If you're fighting Falmer there's a chance they'll even take you prisoner and have you work as a Slave under them in Blackreach. Just because you didn't die, doesn't mean you'll be much better off... Realistic AI Detection - Lets face it, the AI are dumb and the sneak mechanic is broken. Now you can no longer be right in front of someone in broad daylight and not be seen. I use the Lite version. Follower Trap Safety - Don't you hate it when Lydia activates that spiky gate trap and kills you? Yeah me too, well now followers can't activate traps, easy. Simply Better Movement Speed - Tired of outrunning NPC's you need to follow or perhaps their walk/jog jig annoys you to no end? This mod puts you on their level, reducing your default run to a slower jog while keeping spring speed the same. Optional Mods Loot and Degradation SE - In Oblivion your armour and weapons had durability and became broken eventually. With this mod, tempering a weapon and armour isn't a one time thing as it's quality will drop over time and eventually your Superior Iron Dagger will degrade to Fine then lose it's tempering altogether. It's not a quick process however and works in percentages. Optional but Reccomended Better Dialogue Controls - Makes dialogue much less clunky. I highly reccomend it Better MessageBox Controls - Another mod that makes the inferface of Skyrim much less annoying. Highly reccomended Sleep Tight - I struggled with whether or not this was important but it adds some validity to night attacks on a Bandit stronghold. They'll sleep at night and generally only have a skeleton crew up and awake in the late hours and you can even deal more damage to sleeping targets though this setting is optional from the MCM menu. Optional but reccomended. Lethal Traps - Are you brave enough to make traps 100% lethal? Lower Base Skills - With this mod you can reduce your default starting skills to 10/5/0 depending on the file you choose. Racial skills will still be higher but you'll effectively get more levels from this. XP Mods Simple XP Buff - When you've died ten times in a row and had to start a new toon, speeding up the process of levelling doesn't hurt. This isn't a hardcore mod though so consider it entirely optional. It doesn't buff xp outright by the way, it just makes buffs that increase levelling much better like the Warrior, Mage, Thief and Lover Stones or Well Rested. So you need to work for this buff in a way but still, it will make it easier and that might not appeal to everyone. Experience - I personally use this mod. It allows you to gain experience not through levelling skills but by doing things and exploring Skyrim. Discover a location - you get XP, clear a dungeon - you get XP. You can turn on an option that allows you killing enemies to give XP as well as Misc quests. I don't reccomend turning on bForceLvlMeter as it has been known to cause crashes. Alternate Starts Tired of Helgen? Do you want to just start somewhere else and perhaps skip the Main Story? Well here's a couple of mods you might like. I seperated these as you should only choose one or the other, not both. Alternate Start - Live Another Life + New Beginnings - With this you start in a prison cell, forgotten and alone as you wait for death. Nobody has fed you in days and don't think you can go on for much longer...until a Statue of Mara suddenly appears in your cell and offers to give you a new life of your choosing. Who will you become? Skyrim Unbound - I love this mod personally. Alternate Start is great and all but Skyrim Unbound lets you create your character AFTER you've sorted out your mod list so you can save that current state for later if you so wish then create your character. It runs entirely through the MCM and has many options so you can start however you please or make it random. You can even become a non-dragonborn and skip the main quest, not get words from walls or absord dragon souls. Dragons can also be turned on without having to fight Milmulnit in Whiterun. Final Word I used Vortex to install these mods though I'm sure Mod Organizer 2 will be just as useful. LOOT won't hurt either to make sure everything is working okay. This list has been built through trial and error but I've managed to play without crashing for a while now though your experience may differ. Finally this list is very bare bones. You can add to this as you please so long as you're smart and know what mods go with what. Maybe you want a survival aspect like Ultimate Skyrim? In that case Campire, Frostfall and iNeed are on the Special Edition Nexus. Perhaps Smilodon isn't your favourite combat mod? Then by all means use another. At the end of the day my aim was to make a stable Roguelike Skyrim where death is permanent. If you enjoy the experience or find a way to improve it on Special Edition, comment below
  9. Apparently a setting in the mod Experience can cause CTD's so I'm going to try turning off that setting for a while and see how my game goes.
  10. Grrr, still happening and mainly when I kill wolves!
  11. I got the save game cleaner and it seemed to work fine but once again I crashed right before a hit struck an enemy. I'm thinking it might be Know Your Enemy: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13807 It gives enemies resistances and weaknesses to certain properties and I believe the game crashes right before the hit as the background script is messing up with what should happen when it does hit
  12. I've been modding Skyrim for a good six years now and it's never been perfect, not once, and I can stomach one or two crashes a day since I'm pretty anal about saving. Sadly I've crashed 3 times today and these crashes have only been happening in combat right before I land a hit which leads to be believe something may be wrong. I honestly think it might be Vortex and how it often gets confused and asks me 'Does Mod A load after or before Mod B?' despite some of them having nothing in common. My Skyrim isn't heavily modded either. No big graphic overhauls, just immersion mods and some fun little bits and pieces. The biggest I have is Beyond Skyrim: Bruma. I do have character model touchups which are RS Children and Total Character Makeover as well. Each crash has also happened right before an attack hit. Here's what I was doing, it's quite precise...Two times while fighting wolves in Whiterun Hold (Arrow Shot at Greenspring Hollow and Axe hit near Redoran's Retreat), once while fighting a vampire Movarth's Lair (Arrow Shot) and once in Ustengrav while fighting some Draugr not long after the Bandit V Necromancers (Dawnbreaker hit). Two of these crashes involved fire and melee and two involved a simple unenchanted arrow shot. I also use the Beth.ini application for better optimization and LOOT to sort my load order. 0 0 Skyrim.esm 1 1 Update.esm 2 2 Dawnguard.esm 3 3 HearthFires.esm 4 4 Dragonborn.esm 254 FE 0 ccbgssse014-spellpack01.esl 5 5 RSkyrimChildren.esm 6 6 Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp 7 7 BSAssets.esm 8 8 BSHeartland.esm 9 9 BS_DLC_patch.esp 254 FE 1 Morningstar - Minimalistic Races of Skyrim.esl 10 a SkyUI_SE.esp 11 b Papermaker SE.esp 12 c The Great Cities - Minor Cities and Towns.esp 13 d WeightOV - Balance - MERGED.esp 14 e RLO - Interiors.esp 15 f Guards_Armor_Replacer.esp 16 10 Better Spell Learning.esp 17 11 Random Vampire Attacks in Towns Disabled.esp 18 12 No NPC Greetings.esp 19 13 SignatureEquipment.esp IT MIGHT BE THIS? 20 14 RaceMenu.esp 21 15 RaceMenuPlugin.esp 22 16 EconomyOverhaulandSpeechcraftImprovements.esp 23 17 RLO - Exteriors.esp 24 18 Wintersun - Faiths of Skyrim.esp 25 19 FullyEquippedBlacksmiths.esp 26 1a Legionettes SE.esp 27 1b WeightOV - Optional - Lockpick.esp 28 1c WeightOV - Optional - Gold001.esp 29 1d RSChildren.esp 30 1e No Killmoves, No Killcams, No Killbites.esp OR THIS? 31 1f dD-No Spinning Death Animation.esp 32 20 Perfect Legionnaire - Troops Re-equipment.esp 33 21 Unique Uniques.esp 34 22 iHUD.esp 35 23 DiverseDragonsCollectionSE.esp 36 24 HarvestOverhaul_Redone.esp 37 25 HarvestOverhaul_Redone_Creatures.esp 38 26 Visible Favorited Gear.esp 39 27 RSChildren Patch - BS Bruma.esp 40 28 LessIntrusiveHUD.esp MAYBE THIS? 41 29 IHSS.esp 42 2a know_your_enemy.esp 43 2b Eli_RiverwoodShack.esp 44 2c Darkend.esp 45 2d Missives.esp 46 2e The Paarthurnax Dilemma.esp 47 2f TKDodge.esp I HOPE IT ISN'T THIS  48 30 Vivid WeathersSE.esp 49 31 Vivid Weathers SE - Bruma Patch.esp 50 32 Smilodon - Combat of Skyrim.esp MAYBE THIS? 51 33 Mortal Enemies.esp OR THIS? 52 34 Andromeda - Unique Standing Stones of Skyrim.esp 53 35 Character Creation Overhaul.esp 54 36 AMX CCO Andromeda Patch.esp 55 37 CCO - Diverse Races And Genders.esp 56 38 CCO - Dynamic Skill Progression.esp 57 39 CCO - Oblivion Carry Weights.esp 58 3a SpellResearch.esp 59 3b Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim.esp 60 3c Ordinator - Beyond Skyrim Bruma Patch.esp 61 3d HOR_OrdinatorPatch.esp 62 3e Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp 63 3f TheChoiceIsYours.esp 64 40 RLO - IC Patch.esp 65 41 Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp As I read through this I realised it could be Signature Equipment doing it's thing in the background so I'll try disabiling that and starting again. 13. Afraid that didn't help, still crashes
  14. When I go into Whiterun and trade with Adrianne outside her forge it works fine but when I go into Warmaidens later in the day her Husband and Adrianne both CTD when I try to start trading.I t happened on a fresh save and I cant make hide nor hair of the games logs to find the problem though it does say there's an error in Open Cities which I don't have installed and if I was using a mod that depended on it then I would simply CTD on loading Short story is I keep crashing inside warmaidens when I trade, any suggestions? I went around the shops in Whiterun and it doesn't happen anywhere else :( Here's my load order from LOOT's SSE edition So far as I know none of these mods should cause such a specific crash :/ I alos haven't cleaned the 4 esms LOOT says need cleaning, would that help?
  15. I was watching a video earlier showcasing some tasteful armour on a female character. It started off with detailed closeups of the armour to show the high res nature of it but then it cut to catwalking. Someone went out of their way to animate that? Maybe I'm a bit too serious in my playthroughs and I RP my characters heavily so walking with swaying hips and one foot directly on front of the other with each step is like asking for a Draugr to stick his leg out while he's pretending to be asleep (I imagine him sniggering like Mutley) and get a free kill when you land on your face. RIP Catwalk Model in Dungeon - Rekt Hey, go nuts on your characters, mod however you want, no one should care. I just wanted to poke a little fun :) Some of these animation, armour and *ahem* body mods look geat but for an immersion seeking character RPer they serve no purpose to me. Have fun in Skyrim folks :)
