  1. What do you mean by auto screenshots? I've never heard of such a thing before.
  2. My Argonian of 100+ hours recently developed a strange issue where randomly the game will freeze for ~15 seconds, then continue. This can occur at any point while playing that character: walking around, in inventory, in combat, in the map, even in the console. (Not sure about the Escape menu, probably not while resting) What equipment I have on makes no difference. Also, it only happens on that character; I have a secondary Argonian started more recently who has none of those issues. Needless to say, this is jaw-grindingly irritating, but I'm not sure how to fix it. The fact that it's limited to the one character seems to disqualify any active mods from being the source of the problem. My guess is that the problem is due to old leftover scripts/save bloat from past mods. Anyone know if I'm on the right track? I'd prefer to find out exactly what's wrong before trying anything crazy like a clean save.
  3. Well, that's encouraging. :( Thanks for answering the question, though.
  4. Anybody other than me play Drakan: Order of the Flame? It was incredibly buggy, and the story was rather flat, but I swear it had the single best dragon combat I have ever seen. I'd rather like to find another game that gets it right. Divinity II is close, but the fact that all of the enemies on the ground disappear when you morph is exceedingly off-putting. So does anyone else know of any good PC games where you get to control a dragon, and it's a satisfying experience?
  5. Sorry if this is an old problem, but I can't find the fix myself, so I figured I'd ask. A friend of mine bought FO3 GOTY off of Steam and can't get it to work on his Win7 laptop. Whenever we try to load a save or start a new game, it crashes to desktop. We've tried moving the Steam directory out of ProgFiles, running the game in winXP compatibility mode, messing with the cutscene files, and a couple other things I've forgotten. Any help anyone can give would be very much appreciated. Core System Specs: Windows 7 Intel Core i3 Processor Integrated graphics card* 4 GB RAM *The capabilities of the graphics card shouldn't be the problem; he can run Team Fortress 2 and other games just fine. EDIT: Forgot to mention: we are running no mods, just the official game and DLC files.
  6. Okay, we've taken two steps forward and one step back. I got the skeletons to load (yay!) by following the advice in this post. The chest area still has human textures, but I know I've read something about that in Drake's mod's thread, so I think I can handle it. The problem is, to get this result I had to switch from using BSA invalidation (the method I've had the most success with) to using BSA redirection. And when I do this, Robert's v4 stops working. So I'm going to so some more playing around and see if I can fix that. EDIT: Banzai! Success! All I had to do was use BSA redirection in conjunction with my ArchiveInvalidation.txt, and it works great! Thanks for the help, guys!
  7. I tried moving the installation and it didn't seem to help. I'm going to play around with it today and see if I can make it work any better. Anyone know how to edit a BSA timestamp? :P
  8. Telyn: OK, I'm familiar with OBMM. I'll give that a whirl. Did you have to do anything to make the custom skeletons work? Or did they work automatically? Mark: Well, I don't use Wrye Bash, so I don't think that's an issue. Based on how the load arder changes in OBMM, though, BOSS does appear to be working.
  9. I'm already using BOSS, although Drake's mod isn't in the masterlist, but I'll see if I can find a date-setting utility and try that. EDIT: I can't seem to find a date-setting utility other than Wrye Bash, which I don't have or know how to use. Am I missing one?
  10. Okay, I ran the CS as an admin and opened/saved the .esp for the mod. Didn't help. I also reset the permissions, and that didn't work either. I might try moving Steam later today and see if that helps, but I'm not sure I want to do that.
  11. Striker879: OK, I'll try that. HeyYou: Yeah, I'm running Win7, but I don't think it's a UAC issue. I've managed to keep those to a dull roar with other Steam games before. (Mass Effect, for example.) I'll try resetting the rights if Striker's suggestion fails, though.
  12. Here's the background to my question: I have the Oblivion GOTY pack from Steam. Today I tried to load DraketheDragon's Anthro-Dragon WIP mod. It only worked half-way; while the textures and some of the altered geometry loaded correctly, the wings, tails, and some other added bits are suffering from "stretch-to-infinity" errors. This is nothing new to me; I've also had errors of this kind with the tail on the Argonian Vilja mod and with a feline custom race mod. (don't remember which one) I have posted a question to Drake asking for help, but while I was looking back through the comments thread for his mod, I noticed that another user that was using a copy of Oblivion bought on Steam had a very similar problem and was never able to fix it. He believed that the reason he couldn't get the altered skeleton.nif and skeletonbeast.nif files the mod uses to work was because Steam was blocking them somehow. Here was Drake's reply: So, is Steam to blame for this? And if so, how do I hit it on the head and get it to behave? If Drake was on the right track, can someone please tell me how to do what he's talking about? Any advice or links to adivce elsewhere would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the replies, guys. Sounds like I'll have to get Morrowind next time Steam has it on sale. ;)
  14. The major problem I have with Oblivion is that its main storyline is non-engaging and dull. Run around, do this, do that, kill more scamps than you ever want to meet... blech. Is Morrowind's any better?
  15. Oh. OK. Never mind, then. I'll have to think of something else to make.
