I'm getting the "texture 0x 247d78f" error too and i'm not even dealing with npcs I'm getting it while placing objects in the worldspace. it seems like it has to do with some item in the space. I think as the resources load in the viewer the CK gets to the "broken" one and the texture crashes the CK. At least that's what I think it is.
