  1. So, after having used Bodyslide with zero issues before, I came back to use it again and this is what happened... http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/images/2577648-1356554575.jpg So, I uninstalled and reinstalled and uninstalled and reinstalled all sorts of different versions. Nothing helped. The only thing that changed was that I installed Pro Tools, which should have zero effect on this. I may have downloaded a few mods, but any mod that doesn't affect rendering should have any affect on bodyslide. In fact, nothing should mess with bodyslide. Anyways, if anyone knows anything about this, please help. I should also point out that everything else on my computer is working optimally with no issues, so I don't know. Thanks for your time.
  2. Alright, I had this issue for the longest time. I have an AMD Phenom II X2 that I unlocked another functional core on, so now it's a X3 OC'd to 4 GHz, I have 4 GB of 1600 MHz RAM and a 6870 with 1 GB. This is what solved it, I stopped using Beth's HD texture .bsa's. Suddenly no stalls anymore. Seriously, done, I could play normally again. I loaded them by including them in Skyrim.ini and overwrote them with various mods here and there in NMM like a normal person, once I deleted the text in Skyrim.ini and stopped loading them, boom, smooth as butter. Then I had some savegame bloat, which is easy to fix, go into your data folder, backup your scripts folder, then delete it from ...\data\ then open and resave your game on a new slot. It took a 114mb savefile and turned it into a 25 mb savefile. Now, here's the catch, I left my scripts folder out and so far, haven't had any issues with my mods, HOWEVER, some mods depend on those scripts, but I haven't seen any ill effects yet, but you easily COULD depending on the mods you use. The reason I bring that up is because once I replaced the scripts folder back to ...\data\ the save game started adding 1-1.5 mb each time I saved. So it wouldn't have taken long to get back up to 100mb. Beth needs to fix scripting issues in save games. It's pretty ridiculous. K, there you go, feel free to try any of this, I'm telling you in was like the cure for cancer once I did these two things.
  3. Def, the fix using ATI CCC to override Skyrim's AA and AF didn't help with the HD .bsa's enabled. Still, once I disabled them it stopped lagging perfectly. Give it a try if you are using them. It seriously fixed my game, made it playable again. It just makes me mad that it has been so hard for us AMD tech people to play this game. I dunno, it just seems silly, I understand that it probably is my 1G of VRAM getting used up, but it should be optimized in a way that old items are dropped in order of use, I can play 60 fps pretty much, but after loading one too many cells (like, seriously, two cells if one is outdoors) and boom done, unplayable. With the texture packs I use, the HD ones from Beth are getting overwritten in game mostly, therefore they aren't adding all that much to the used VRAM. The engine starts showing black meshes with no textures when the VRAM is actually used up so it's just horrible code utilizing ATI hardware. K, rant over.
  4. Alright, I need to say this, I was always suspicious that it might just be poor handling of ATI graphics hardware due to not unloading texture data properly and that is why I can play until I load too many cells. That said, I decided to try something, I stopped loading the Official HD tex .bsa's from Beth. I am still using a ridiculous number of HD mods, like Skyrim HD - 2K Textures - Skyrim HD v1_5 LITE, all my armor mods (dozens, literally dozens), Skyrim Flora Overhaul - Vurts Skyrim Flora Overhaul v109a Hi-Res version, HD face packs, body tex's and so on and so forth, AFTER editing my Skyrim.ini to remove the HD .bsa's from loading, boom, NO LAG WHATSOEVER. The only difference is the NPC vanilla clothing looks like crap again. If you are using the official HD packs from Beth in this manner, unload them. Do not use. I fast travelled from Solitude to Whiterun to Riverwood to Markarth and walked inside buildings in each city and no lag after all of that. That said, I am gonna try what you posted Def to see if that fixes it while using the bsa's.
  5. http://www.nodiatis.com/pub/3.jpg Yay! I can't even see my results until I post! Dumb. Let's see...
  6. Yeah, following my experiments with fast travelling and a new save and such, I can safely say it isn't due to savefile bloat. It's whatever they have against AMD hardware that is the issue here. If I were to go spend an extra $150 dollars on a similarly spec'd Nvidia GPU I might be able to do away with this. Oh and another $150 for a similarly spec'd Intel CPU. Hmm, more expensive hardware that is technically only just as capable as the hardware I have solves the problem? Conspiracy anyone? Ugh, I'll wait for Alex to release skyboost for free for 1.5 thank you very much.
  7. It's not a d3d9 replacer, that's the best part. It works with everything, SKSE, ENB, FXAA Injectors so et al. It's actually only two little files you extract into your \Skyrim folder and it's all good. I strongly, strongly suggest you try it out. He only allows it to be released on his sight for creative differences with the Nexus but, hey, to each their own. I'm also currently looking into save game bloat in correlation with the lag issue. Still Beth's problem, but it doesn't look like they have any intention of fixing it. I have a couple save games that are 70+ mb and one specifically that is 114mb. But I still get the lag from files that are only 30 mb too, so I am going to do some experimenting. Check this thread, they talk about it here.
  8. Yeah, every other single game I play, I play on bleeding-edge maximum quality just fine. Maybe it drops to 28 fps in a few choice spots in a few choice games, but not even in the same ballpark as what happens in Skyrim. Too bad too, I love Skyrim. They won't get a dime for any DLC though until they optimize their engine. The mod Skyboost here helps so ridiculously much it's embarassing that Skyrim was released in such bad shape. However, he hasn't released it for 1.5 yet, though he has confirmed that he is working on it.
  9. I have the same exact issue. Specs, - ATI Radeon 6870 1024MB DDR5 - 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM - AMD 970 Chipset (AM3+) Motherboard - AMD Phenom II x2 unlocked to 3 cores OC'd to 4GHz - Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Edition From what I've read, though, is that, essentially, it's just because we have AMD hardware. That is the best explanation I've discovered, because I run a squeaky clean system and an Intel/Nvidia-based system with similar or lower specs does not have issues like this. Anyways, I was really hoping that the new 12.4 Catalyst drivers would solve this, but they don't, sorry friend.
  10. Hmm, I wonder too. I hadn't even considered that. That would be awesome. It just seems odd to me that the shadows can spontaneously become more detailed by altering the FOV without affecting the FPS at all. That just goes to show that the way in which shadows were handled in the engine is very poorly implemented. I wish I knew how to script or code in an effort to remedy this, but alas, I know nothing of the two. I was hoping somebody from the mod community would catch this post and hopefully look into it but maybe they didn't because there's no way to alter it.
  11. Did you ever try it and see? And I agree with you on the engine issue. But let's face it, this "new" engine was designed solely to fit on aging console systems, which is a direct deviation from their previous MO of building the baddest rpg's on the planet. Makes me sad really :(
  12. So I was screwing around in Whiterun, and sometimes my FOV resets itself to some ridiculously low setting. I imagine I have a mod conflict somewhere. It's not frequent enough to bother me and a ~FOV 80 fixes it in like 2 seconds. Anyways, I digress. I noticed something thanks to the mod I have that adds trees to Whiterun. I was busy staring at the ground when a FOV reset happened and lo and behold the shadows were way more detailed. I am running shadows at completely default Ultra settings, without any ini tweaks. The only shadow mod I have is a shadow striping fix. Here's a couple screens. It is much more apparent in game watching the shadows of the trees flutter. But I think you can tell pretty well with these two screens. I haven't heard anything before that relates shadow detail to FOV, only the map resolution and viewing distance. So maybe the fact that it's tied to FOV might help someone, somewhere with real modding ability to perhaps detangle the web of crap shadows this game has. First, FOV 80. And then, FOV 45 So, does anyone know anything about this? With what little knowledge I have concerning how Skyrim handles shadows, this can't be because of a mod or ini tweaks anyways, it has to be the engine itself. It also just seems so odd that shadows are affected by FOV. Changing your FOV doesn't affect viewing distance or shadow map resolution so it must have a completely unique affect on them. I dunno, just food for thought maybe.
  13. I have the same issue, except I didn't use a mod to mess with the Nightingale stuff at all. So... I dunno.
  14. Well, I figured out what to do. Use Skyedit to view plugins and the masters and use TesSnip to actually modify them with hexadecimal. Tedious, but Skyedit and I don't get along. Here's the results of my Heavy Armor wearing Orc with all the perks utilized yay! http://www.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/image.php?id=30791 and http://www.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/image.php?id=30792 Totally worth the effort
  15. I want to add keywords to a stand alone item to make it activate perk bonuses properly. I load Skyrim.esm first. Then I open the plugin as active. The item is fine and dandy, but when I go to add keywords to it, there are none in the list and typing anything into the EDID form just highlights it red and nothing happens. What in the world am I missing? Otherwise the plugin is working just fine. I just want my heavy armor bonus and my temper bonus >:(
