A viable alternative to monetizing mods I'd like to ask everyone who uses Nexus, both as a modder and as a mod user to have a look at the above and let me know what you think. Thank you

Sorry to cut in here, but I would like to get some input on a list of issues I have to put to Gabe Newell when he returns from his PR holiday to address us again. Without adieu, here they are: - Exploitation of modders at 25 cents on the dollar - Prevention of asset piracy - Prevention of copyright abrogation (modders retain ownership of their work for all time) - Quality control of paid-for mods - Compatibility guarantee for paid-for mods - Return policy which actually refunds your money (not adding it to your steam wallet) - Confirm or deny that mods (for Skyrim or any other game) may become Steam-exclusive in the future - Payment scheme (modders must be paid in real money, not Steam credit. Having to sell $400 to make $100 is not acceptable) I appreciate any thoughts -
Would you say it's.. a steaming load? Ha! I kid, I kid.

They shut down to clean house. The petition thread that had over 1000 posts and has been kept at the front of the Skyrim forums for the past 3 days (and did not violate the EULA) has been removed along with many others.

and there's a rash of closed topics.. this wasn't a server failure

Possible, but not too likely... What they said.

Whatever the cause, this is going to draw the attention of a lot of people who may have, somehow, been unaware of the paid-for mod controversy. Everyone who uses steam community is going to stop and wonder what's going on.

Bad traffic? There's a lot of people really upset about paid mods.. It could be damage control, but I couldn't think of a worse thing they could do to be honest.
-
You think they'll be shut down all day? I have no idea, this wasn't announced.

The entire Steam community is down. http://steamcommunity.com/ Why? That's the interesting question to me.

Seems unlikely, but it could be I suppose.

The entire Steam Community, http://steamcommunity.com/ , has been taken down. Interesting.
