  1. I'm sure I used to have a mod (back in like, 2018, pre catastrophic hard drive death) that meant using the smelter and the tanning rack improved your smithing skill like using the forge, just somewhat slower. Does anyone else remember this one, or know where it can be found if it's still out there?
  2. Oh wow! I can't believe I missed that. Now I feel smart XD
  3. Is there a mod that lets you put more than one enchantment on a weapon or armor? I really want to make a bow that does soul trap and shock damage at the same time, since that way I won't have to run around trying to find soul gems to keep a plain shock bow running. (I know, I could go on the construction kit and create a bow with multiple enchantments that way, but I'm not very experienced with the kit and it doesn't run well on this laptop for reasons I can't figure out)
  4. First off, I know this is a long shot. I totally accept that. If I could do this myself I would have but I can't even begin to get my head around re-texturing. Just reading through the tutorials confuses me. The backstory; I'm working on a mega-mod that adds hundreds and hundreds of new NPCs to Oblivion. Most of the single people living alone in giant houses get spouses and children, just as an example. The wealthy ones get servants. There are traveling merchants. All these new NPCs use the leveled lists for their clothing, and with the current options available, a lot of them end up in matching outfits. I've already got this: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/28643/? which is great for lower class shirts, and this http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/17558/? which gives a handful of middle class options, but I'm looking for more. More pants, skirts, shirts, you name it. I really don't like the body replacers and all the sexy outfits that come with them. I actually really like the vanilla oblivion body shape. It works for me. But, y'know. Leads to a lack of variety because it seems like everyone uses the replacements. I'm going to continue futzing around with Gimp, but I'm getting to the point where I'm willing to pay someone if they're willing to do me a dozen or so sets of lore-friendly male and female clothing for the lower and middle class characters.
  5. Ah! Thank you! I totally didn't think to set it relative to the object position. Somehow it's always the simple stuff that escapes me XD
  6. I've been f*#@ing with the water level in this interior cell I'm trying to make for ages, and no matter what I can't get the water to show. The construction set wiki hasn't been helpful so far, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what level I need to set the water to so that it'll show up. I've checked the 'has water' button, but so far every numerical range from 9000 to -9000 doesn't show anything. I've checked other cells that have water and they don't have numbers anywhere near that, so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure out what.
  7. No marker needed. Spells box is checked - that's the thing, she's offering services because I can click on the 'buy spells' tab. She just has none showing as available when I know I haven't already learned them.
  8. I'm trying to create a spell merchant to sell some novice level conjuration spells I've created, so that I can grind my conjuration all the way up (I'm slowly working all my skills to 100. Don't ask me why). This is the first time I've tried creating a spell merchant as opposed to a normal one. So far, all good. Created an NPC, set her up as a merchant, got her AI sorted. Click on the 'buy spells' button... and the spellbook page comes up as empty, despite her having six spells in her spell list. As far as I can tell there's no difference between her and any other spell merchant. I've futzed around with her level, I've changed her barter gold, I've done everything I can think of, and still, I'm faced with an empty spellbook when I click 'buy spells'. Any advice? I can't think what I'm doing wrong. I'd upload the file but unfortunately it's tied into about ten other mods, part of a mega-mod I'm working on. ETA - The spells don't show when I add them to an existing spell merchant either. In fact, when I add vanilla spells to merchants they're not showing up. Second ETA - When I create a totally new mod and try adding vanilla spells to a merchant, they don't show. I'm confused now.
  9. There isn't a separate soundcard in my computer, just the onboard sound, which is kind of crappy even with decent speakers. I'll try switching sound effects off and see what happens. Maybe something somewhere has corrupted. ETA: Turning sounds off worked! Now I need to figure out what sound is causing the problem. I have the Sounds of Cyrodill pack downloaded but not active, so I'm assuming it's a vanilla file that's got corrupted or something
  10. Thank you! It's a little different in windows 7 but I've found the updates at least. None of them seem to be diver updates though, it's all security updates. Could one of those be causing the issue?
  11. Okay, will do. Do you have any links handy that detail how to do that? I've never tried anything like this before.
  12. Oooh, yeah updates, that's a good point. I don't shut this thing down very often but I did last night, and there were a bunch of updates it had to go through before it finally shut off. I'll give the .ini thing a shot and see what happens, if not I guess it could be driver shenanigans. ETA: It's not the .ini, I just tried that and even with a fresh one I'm still crashing. ETA2: Uninstalling/Reinstalling Wrye Bash didn't make a difference either. ETA3: Oddly, the crash only comes when I move or do something. I left it for half an hour standing still doing nothing and no crash.
  13. I've been playing a heavily modded Oblivion for about the past ~3 months with no problems save the occasional loading crash which I think we've all come to know and love/fear. This morning, despite having changed nothing, it's decided to crash seconds after loading my saves, as soon as I move my character. Okay, I figured I've had a similar problem before, it's probably a buggy mod. I started stripping out the mods, and still, it won't load my saves; as soon as my character moves, draws a weapon or jumps, I get a CTD. Same happens on creating a new game. I stripped out all the mods and gave vanilla Oblivion a try, on a hunch. Same thing happens. Create a new game, move even one step, boom, CTD. So I stripped Oblivion off and reinstalled it. Tried again. Same problem. At this point I'm kind of stumped. Do I need to uninstall/reinstall it differently? Is it something much more complicated than that? As far as I know nothing at all has changed in the past three months except some clothing I downloaded, and certainly not between last night (when it was working fine) and now.
  14. Looks like a compatability patch is needed for Feldscar village too, once it's all done
  15. As long as it's not something I've done with one of my other mods or a weird glitch, that's ok. I was just a bit alarmed at first is all
