  1. Would you kindly elaborate? What potential for modding do you see? More buildable houses, for one. Larger ones too. I expect one of the first mods we'll see in the next month or two is one that makes the Main Hall much larger to allow for all nine wings to be added at once. Custom wings, too, around the same time. Later I expect to see buildable fortresses or castles - or even towns - using the same new Hearthfire resources. Bethesda's sprinkled far more stone and clay around that would be needed for just the vanilla buildable homes, too, so clearly they were hoping for modders to pick up where they left off and run with it. The people who keep saying Hearthfire has nothing to offer modders are either short-sighted fools or are lying through their teeth.
  2. Yes. Why? Consider the implications of Hearthfire's new features, with a little modding added in. We can now assemble armies of wooden sword-wielding immortal orphan children. Edit: I'm going to teach my daughter necromancy!
  3. My necromancer COULD use an apprentice with the right mindset...
  4. I installed a "kill essential NPCs" mod, rolled up a bearded High Elf, and roleplayed Dumac Dwarfking reclaiming Markarth for the Dwemer. Was hilarious.
  5. Yeah, I think he's supposed to be Thane at this point. Quick test: save your game and go commit a minor crime in front of a guard in Solitude. If you get the option to demand they let you go, then you're already Thane.
  6. Only Dawnstar, Morthal and Falkreath have purchaseable land plots. Basically, the three major towns that don't already have player housing (I'm gonna go ahead and count the entire College as a 'home' for Winterhold). As for stone, grab a pickaxe and look around for a new 'vein' of stone. There should be one within spitting distance of whatever house you've begun building (ditto for a clay deposit), and they contain far more stone than an ore vein has ore. I've also found clay deposits out in the middle of the wild, so I assume there's stone laying about on the map as well. Far more stone and clay than you could ever need for the three houses currently available, in fact, which makes me assume the extra deposits are there for either selling or modding in additional homes.
  7. Hearthfire is of great benefit to PC players (and Kazakhstan). Hell, I'm already looking forward to getting to make a new house for myself, find a nice wife to settle down with, and adopt some kids. I do wish there was a pregnancy mod like the Romance mod back in the Morrowind days so I could have some kids of my own, but adoption will suffice for now. And finally I have a reason to actually visit general stores that doesn't involve questing! A few minor bugs that will be patched in a few weeks are nothing. And I never liked the Build Your Own House mod's furniture options anyway. Hearthfire looks far more customizable and I'm hoping it'll inspire a slew of similar mods using the new resources.
  8. Bethesda: These house mods for the PC version of Skyrim are awesome! We should make our own Build Your Own House DLC so that the XBox and PS3 (someday) players can enjoy them too! PC Players: WAAAH BETHESDA HATES US AND ARE TAKING ALL OUR TOYS AWAY TO SHARE WITH THE CONSOLE GAMING PEASANTS Ah, the anguished cries of the supposed PC Gaming Master Race never fail to delight. I've got about a hundred mods installed and I haven't crashed yet with Hearthfire. Going to go and try to find a crash now, actually.
  9. I hate mannequins. So much. They're creepy to begin with, and it doesn't help that they occasionally bug out and start moving around, but the bloody things are apparently beloved by modders since not only are they in some of the vanilla houses, but they're sprinkled liberally across all the house mods out there right now. What's worse is that some of them are positioned where disabling them through the council requires you to get right up next to them to successfully click then in the console rather than something completely different in the background, which simply isn't happening. (Not to mention sometimes you can't get the console to select the mannequins at all anyway.) http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/3788/hatea.jpgAM hates humans - I hate mannequins. Therefore, I'd like to whip myself up a mod to permanently disable all the mannequins, including those used in mods. The problem is successfully doing this. I'm figuring all I need to do is boot up the CK, make an .esp that deletes the mannequin activators, and simply load this last. I've already done that, in fact, but before I go ingame to test this am I on the right track, or am I going to go into my house and find the mannequins have been morphed into aggressive enemies, which will most assuredly cause me to never ever play Skyrim again should I survive the subsequent heart attack? Edit: Upside - my Deleteallmanequins.esp did not accidentally turn the mannequins into zombies. Downside - it also didn't do jack. Somebody please tell me how to delete these mannequins oh God
  10. Yes, though Col. Autumn's explanation for why the Enclave wants the Purifier - recruitment - shows that he, at least, wants to revise Enclave SOP to include not shooting random Wastelanders on sight. Plot railroading and the infamous Villain Ball are the only things making the Enclave the antagonists of Fallout 3 in that regard. Thus, the main point of this mod is for the Lone Wanderer to join forces with Col. Autumn, take down Eden, and rebuild the Enclave as a less cartoonishly evil organization. Whether this ends in the Enclave becoming better or worse is up to the player's actions. Before any of this can come out, however, I first need to get my GECK to stop constantly deleting my progress.
  11. I'm currently recovering from an illness, having quite a few assorted RL problems, and have had two different computer crashes set back progress. Plus I'm doing everything by myself. But yes, True Enclave is still being worked on.
  12. Some time ago a piece of concept art for a suit of Enclave Combat Armor was uploaded to deviantART. I believe we can all agree that it looks incredibly awesome: http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/2066/falloutenclavesoldierby.jpg I spoke with dywa, who designed the outfit, and got his permission to try and port the armor into Fallout 3 for my True Enclave mod. However, since I am utterly terrible at 3D work, I commissioned cahemdue to do the model and some quick texture work, and I would port the model into Fallout 3 and from there find someone to finalize the texture. Unfortunately, my computer and backup external hard drive were both destroyed in a fire last month, and took with them all my Fallout mod works. I have since learned that, at the same time, cahemdue was hospitalized due to some sort of illness and has had to withdraw from the project. Between these two misfortunes I find I can no longer move forward with the project on my own, and am looking for someone to complete the work in my stead, or at least offer assistance while I try to salvage what I can. I had tried contacting parts of the Fallout 3 modding community for some assistance, but everyone seems devoted to New Vegas now, so here I am. Any assistance would be appreciated. One Enclave. One America.
  13. I'm playing through Fallout 3 without an Alternate Start mod for the first time and I'm stuck on question #10 of the G.O.A.T. during the tutorial quest "Future Imperfect". Which answer am I supposed to give?
  14. "In 2077 the storm of World War had come gain. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise..."
