Apologies to everyone who had compatibility with Hearthfire broken by Distant Detail. There is now a Hearthfire Edition of Distant Detail available right here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25300/ Please uninstall the old version of Distant Detail before installing the new one. Thanks for your patience! Note: ANY mod which makes changes to the actual game world where houses are built will cause this issue, so please check your mod list for other mods which may be conflicting.

I have noticed this too. The bShadowsOnGrass line is present in the SkyrimPrefs file, and it is set to 1, but there are no shadows on the grass. I do see shadows on plants and bushes (not the same as grass tufts) but other than that, I can't tell that it's working. Using an ATI HD 4890
