  1. I'm not certain if this belongs here, seeing as the Druid's Garden seems to be entirely writing-centric, but I'd like to share. Admins are free to delete the thread as they please. Elder Scroll Readings are weekly audio-book style narrations for the hundreds of books littered throughout the series. I like voice-acting, and I like lore videos, and I wanted to present some form of a semi-professional reading for these stories. One day soon, I aim to write my own horror stories and provide audio-book narrations for those as well, so I consider this practice. Latest Video
  2. Hi. So, here's the deal. Couple years ago I lost my hard drive, and this occurred after my graduation, so I no longer had a student e-mail to re-download the programs I was using. Between that, a new job, and just getting my RL setup somewhat comfortably, I eventually decided that the mod was too much of a time sink for me. This was especially considering that I was wanting to create my own custom textures rather than using Bethesda ones (The Type A was using the game's dragon textures.) The single biggest issue for me continuing the mod at this time is I am unable to create the object space normal maps (or at least decent quality ones.) Photoshop would allow me to make the tangent space maps for things like armor and, well, anything else in the game, really. However, Bethesda decided that the character models would be done with object space maps. Without the time, skill, or programs to create a high-quality 3D model that I could use to make the object space map, I'd never have a decent looking normal map, and therefore never have a decent looking final product. The Type A used the low quality models provided by Bethesda to create the maps, and the model still suffers from a "flat" look and incorrect light angles. At some point, I decided to move on and just gave anyone and everyone permission to use what I had in case somebody else out there could pull it off.
  3. Greetings! I'm getting back into this and I'm missing several tools I used to have. One was a student DL of 3DS Max, which I was slowly teaching myself to use so I could create the character normal maps. Unfortunately, that was a couple years ago and I haven't been a student nor had access to my student e-mail since that time. I'm looking for suggestions on 3d programs to create the world space object maps from my custom textures.
  4. Your DrachisArgonian mod is so awesome pls come back !
  5. The premise of the game is that it rewards players who explore the game world. Bashing your way through the MQ as fast as possible doesn't yield much.
  6. I'm so sick of these arguments. Explain to me how realistic tossing fireballs from your hand using magic energy that doesn't actually exist in real life is. Or how you're able to shove people off cliffs just by shouting. Or how you can block a thousand-pound lizard with nothing but a shield. Or how you can steal armor and weapons that people are wearing without them noticing. And then complain about walking, talking lizard with breasts. Challenge accepted! Explain to me how realistic tossing fireballs from your hand using magic energy that doesn't actually exist in real life is. -Yea I got nothing for this one. Or how you're able to shove people off cliffs just by shouting. -Easy, avalanche, loose rocks and what not, large sonic vibrations that could be emitted from a human could and have easily dislodged cliff faces and if someone were standing on it, they would indeed fall off. Or how you can block a thousand-pound lizard with nothing but a shield. -You can easily block with the shield, as the shield is not penetrated, You however are either moved as well, or smushed entirely. (Also keep in mind its not uncommon to be moved by regular attacks that strike a shield in reallity.) Or how you can steal armor and weapons that people are wearing without them noticing. -Maybe they are; Blind/Deaf, in a coma, tasered, drunk or high ... What is this? I don't even... I still need an adult.
  7. What is this? I don't even-- I need an adult.
  8. This one time, at bard camp, I accidentally stepped on a lute. Bethesda physics took over from there.
  9. Fixed, and thank you. I'm having new issues now, but I'll experiment around some and see if I can't fix them myself.
  10. So here's a few screens of what I'm doing: http://skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/3198025-1323471303.jpg http://static.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/3198025-1323471728.jpg http://static.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/3198025-1323471776.jpg Regardless of all the options I mess with, I get the exact same .TGA: http://static.skyrimnexus.com/imageshare/images/3198025-1323471864.jpg
  11. I was fighting a dragon on a mountain top when his glorious body came bounding up the jagged rocks to let me know that there was a dragon there I could kill. Such dedication.
  12. I've tried all available options just to see if there was a difference between any of them. World, screen, local xyz, and tangent all produce unwavering identical tangent maps, and all the tutorials I find just assume that you would only want to use tangent, so they don't attempt to create OS maps. I've found modeling websites and forums that discuss OS maps, but everyone comes to the same conclusion that it's "useless" or "unnecessary", so nobody else has gotten answers to this same question.
  13. Mmmkay, after a few days of messing around with that, it's still not producing an OS map. All the results look identical to each other, and are all clearly tangent space. I've browsed some other forums, and the only solution I can find is "Why on earth would you want an OS map? Just make a tangent one." I'm also really confused as to why the playable characters are the only ones using OS maps. Everything else in the game, including creatures, is tangent.
  14. I've been watching tutorials and making progress with 3ds mapping. I've learned how to convert a high poly model to a normal map (which I won't be doing for the project, most likely, for quite some time), and I figured out on my own how to use the material maps to render a normal map and save it as .tga. I still haven't found any way to create an OS map, however. They are all tangent space. I haven't found anything, yet. I found alternative options to tangent, but the other options do not produce an OS map.
  15. I've learned how to create a tangent normal map by rendering material maps on my mesh, but I can't find options anywhere for an object space map when I'm rendering or saving the .tga file.
