  1. In response to post #37067255. #37067320 is also a reply to the same post. Yup, same here.
  2. Also having this issue. Glad its not just me. Not using any mods or custom textures.
  3. Unfortunately for me an adblocker is essential for some of the more "aggressive" ads out there. I still whitelist sites I visit often and want to support though. Why I love the supporter option on the Nexus so much, supporting the site but no crazy ads :D
  4. I'm having the issue too. Thought it was because I had modded the game but a fresh install confirms it's a vanilla bug :P
  5. In response to post #24587454. #24587604, #24587789, #24587819 are all replies on the same post. Is it not possible that the silent majority (or at least a large percentage) of the Steam Workshop users will not have so many qualms about paying for mods? Not to make any wild assumptions but if you are exclusively using the Workshop for Skyrim modding you might be more likely to have the "Plug and Play" mentality where you want the mod to work easily without much input (this may just be conjecture on my part :P ) If this venture by Valve and Bethesda is kept afloat I doubt it will be getting the majority of its cash from Nexus users. I may be totally wrong but I'd love to know what other people think.
  6. In response to post #24586549. #24586889, #24586954, #24587054 are all replies on the same post. That gives me a little hope. As I said that is my worst case scenario and I really hope that it does not come to that. As a player who regularly has 50+ mods active I would not be able to maintain that if even 1/4 of them were paid for I don't earn that much and I chop and change mods very often depending on my mood and the play-through I'm doing. Even if only 10% of the mods I used were paid, I don't think I could afford it :(
  7. In response to post #24586549. I agree that there are a-lot of mod authors who see it as a hobby or pastime and would not charge for their mods ever. I believe that there are people who put enough time and effort into their creations to warrant a payment if they want. There will always be lots of good mod authors willing to provide high quality free mods, but I don't think its inherently wrong to ask for payment for your work. I think the REAL issue here is the fact that it is now in Valve and Bethesda's interest to discourage free mod sites like the Nexus. If there are awesome mods available on the Nexus for free then that will be direct competition for their income from the steam workshop. Why pay for a mod when there may be a similar one for free here? I have a horrible feeling that the next game (Fallout or TES) will have exclusive Steam Workshop modding and will not be compatible with mods installed by 3rd party software (NMM or MO for example). If that turns out to be the case then we can expect a good number of the "essential" best mods to be behind a pay-wall. Maybe I'm catastrophizing but I see this as a step towards a more closed and suspicious modding community where people will feel reluctant to share work or give permission for their work to be altered by patches and merged mods because of the question of payment. It may be that we've had it too good for too long and that any type of wildly successful creative scene like this is a time bomb waiting for someone to monetize it. That is the nature of capitalism after all; see what is popular and figure out how to make money from it. I hope I am wrong.
  8. You Sir (or madam) are a scholar and a Gentleman/woman. That worked perfectly! Thanks an awful lot. I can finally make my mod :D
  9. I recently started playing New Vegas again and decided to make my own Goodsprings ammo store. I've used the Oblivion construction set before so I got to grips with the GECK quite quickly. Everything is working apart from my NPC. My NPC (the store-owner) is meant to be the African American Race. However while the skin tone on the face is correct the body skin-tone is white. This is happening both inside the GECK and in the game when I load my plugin. I've looked through about 3 pages of Google and not found anything that worked. I tried changing bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 in ALL of the .INI files I have but with no success. I've also tried re-activating archive invalidation too. I searched through this forum too and found nothing that worked. Does anyone know WHY this is happening? Cheers.
  10. Hi, I've been looking at weapon textures for Skyrim and I'm not sure what the emissive map is for ( the files with _em at the end). Is it the same as a glow map? Also how do I create an emissive map for any re-textures I do?
  11. Hi, I'm trying to create a landscape for my mod. However after saving the heigtmap in the editor and going into the worldspace I created, the changes I make do not show up all the time. For example I can make a mountain and It will show up fine, but if I decide to edit the mountain and lower it to become a hill, the change will not show up when I go into the wilderness cell I edited. Also when I return to the heightmap editor afterwards is now showing as a mountain again. I cannot work out what I'm doing wrong. I can't find any answers to specifically this question on the forums. Is there something basic I am missing? Thanks.
  12. Yeah I've decided to live with it until I finish. FO3Plugin makes life easy to change the esp so I'm ok now I think. Thanks for all your help.
  13. Thanks I'll try that. I get alot of warnings in the GECK as well, like it cant find lots of texture files :( I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
  14. I've been making a mod on the GECK and I've made a merc to guard a banker I'm making. When I see him in the GECK he looks normal but when I go in game he has a dark face and light arms. he should have a dark skin colour all over not just on his head :P How can I fix this?
