  1. I know this forum is usually used to talk about the mods themselves, but a big part of releasing a mod is getting the mod download page to look nice. What are some dos and don'ts that you have picked up on while looking at mods, what kind of things do you like to see when you look at a mod page? For me, I pretty much don't bother with a mod unless it tells me what it does, bullet points are the best I think. If your mod description says "Adds new weapons to the game" and then has pictures of beautiful weapons, I probably won't download, I want to know if they are craftable, if they are in leveled lists, if they are powerful, things like that. Giving enough info for me to know what I'm getting into is great. Secondly, formatting, if you have an amazing mod but I can't decipher the description because it is a single block of text with brackets around things and term's I don't recognize because you are using the names of your items from the CK to describe things to me (I'm a little surprised I even see mods like this) then I won't understand what I am getting well enough to want your mod. Dos for me is pictures and titles. My favorite is when the author has pictures at the bottom of the mod page that are links to his other mods, it lets me see everything he has done and gets him more traffic. This also comes with a question: Does the nexus use standard forum tags for their mod description page? I have been thinking about all these things because I just uploaded my first few mods and am trying to get them to look nice.
  2. yeah, sorry but it is crazy unlikely there is an experienced modder out there with nothing to make just dying to help someone who has no idea what he is doing. Prepare your google-foo and look up some youtube tutorials. They will have everything you need to get started making custom armor and weapons.
  3. Where can I find a tutorial for how to package my mods up for the Nexus Mod Manager. I just finished some weapons I saw requested and I want to offer a replacement version and a standalone version. Where can I find instructions with how to get a single file that the manager can install for each type?
  4. Hello. I am making a version of the centurion steam spell that fires like flames but the visuals disappear after using it for a few seconds. If anyone who has experiance making spell effects could look at the Dwarven Centurion Steam Spell (called crDwarvenSteamBreath) and see if they can figure out how to get the stream continuous I would be very grateful.
  5. For my first mod I was pretty ambitious and have managed to make an animated dwemer staff that fires the steam attack from the centurions. I am pretty proud of my little mod and have it all placed in the world but I am encountering two problems. 1. The Centurion is designed to only fire the steam for a short amount of time. Because of this the steam stops showing after the time when the centurion would no be firing any more (it still works, just the graphics go away). I managed to get the sound to loop but the particle effect of the steam still cuts out after a short amount of time. The steam still appears where is hits walls and players, but the projectile fades away. I need to know how to get the steam to keep showing so it won't turn off until the spell is stopped being used. 2. When the staff enters a kill-cam the entire thing messes up. How do you turn off kill-cams for a weapon? If I could get these two issues solved my little mod would finally be ready to release. I'm so excited to get it out. Which reminds me, if anyone could link me to a tutorial for packaging your mods up for the nexus manager I would be really grateful. Thanks ahead of time everyone!
