  1. Wondering if someone can Frankenstein a headlamp onto a Flight Helmet, ideally with item mod compatibility to change the bulb. I love the look of the Flight Helmet, but the utility of a headlamp is hard to argue with. I figure it could probably be done by editing the nif of the mining lamp to use the flight helmet model instead, then duplicating the mining lamp data to make it a new item, but I really don't know this stuff, so I'm not confident doing it myself. If nothing else, DIY advice would be welcome.
  2. So what you're saying is it's impossible with the standard GECK? That's a bummer. Alright, well, thank you.
  3. Been hunting around and can't find an answer. I'm trying to bring my old Level Workaround from Fallout 3 to NV. Unfortunately, when I hit level 31, I don't get a perk, which means I'll never get another perk. Bummer. I figured I could script around this little difficulty. The relevant part: ;add the ability to keep gaining perks, either every level or every other level ;gain perks every level ;SetGS iLevelsPerPerk == 1 ;gain perks every other level with hacky scripting! ;if clwDidntGetAPerk = 1 ; set clwDidntGetAPerk to 0 ; setGS iLevelsPerPerk to 1 ;else ; set clwDidntGetAPerk to 1 ; set iLevelsPerPerk to 2 ;end if clwDidntGetAPerk is a global I set up for tracking. iLevelsPerPerk is exactly what it sounds like. I've tried Set, SetGS, to, =, ==, and it refuses to compile every time. What do I need to do to change this, if it's even possible?
  4. Got back into Fo3 recently, and after playing a couple other shooters in the interim, I've thought of one thing I'd really like to have. If you read the title, you know what this is already, but for those who didn't I'll add a dramatic explanatory line next. Offhand melee attacks. If you're not familiar with the concept, it's when you make a melee attack while carrying a ranged weapon. Be it a punch with your off hand, a rifle butt to the temple, or a bayonet in the jugular. If I have to explain why such a thing would be nice to have, you haven't fought enough feral ghouls. A "complete" version of this mod would end up needing new animations (first- and third-person) and goodness knows what else, but what I'm actually requesting is a simple proof-of-concept. We can fine-tune later. I figure the easiest way to do it would be to run a script when the Grab button is pressed. Is the target alive? Is the player's weapon drawn? If yes to both, deal damage and push as if the player just did a melee attack. This will probably require FOSE, but that's not even a big deal anymore, so no worries there. So I guess the question is... is it possible to have a script make a melee attack, even with FOSE? Is it even plausible? Hopefully someone that knows a thing or two about scripting with FOSE could answer/make this. Thanks for your time.
  5. Not to beat a dead horse (or bring it back from the dead for that matter) but after six hours of fussing I've finally, completely fixed my audio stuttering problem. Please note, I have Windows XP. A similar fix should apply to Vista, but I don't know where they stash it. Issue: In-game music played through the Pip-Boy stutters, pops, and sometimes goes entirely quiet or fails to start the next song. This is not the same effect as GNR's reduced broadcasting area. This affects all radio stations that play music (GNR, Enclave, Agatha). This only affects music (voice clips, all other in-game sound, and non-radio music are not affected). Effect is pronounced when first loading a game, when changing areas (especially via fast travel) or when loading large environment objects. Pressing Esc to go to Main Menu, then returning to the game, often fixes it temporarily. Now that we're clear on what the issue is, here's what I did to fix it. ffdshow Do not allow Fallout3.exe to use ffdshow, audio OR video. Option 1, add it to the "do not use" list. Option 2, disable ffdshow by moving the slider all the way to the left. Both options are covered elsewhere in this thread. AC3filter This one has been mentioned in threads on other boards. If you have this installed, either Disable it from working with mp3 audio, or Disable it entirely. Both options are in the "System" tab. [*]If you've seen the AC3filter discussions before, you may have seen suggestions to set it to "Wave Out" This will cause all sorts of stupid sound problems. Voices get quiet instead of radio in dialogue, sound effects are linked to radio volume... it's bad. And now, the actual fix, the one that finally took care of my problem (and it's so simple you may hit yourself). Windows XP Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Volume tab -> Speaker Settings section -> Advanced... -> Performance tab -> Hardware Acceleration -> Basic Don't turn it off, or all sound will end up stuttering! If all sound stutters at Basic, go up to the next level.
  6. They have items that function as infinite ammo (I think they're called robot ammo, but I'm not 100% sure). Just add the appropriate items to their inventories in the GECK and you're set.
  7. Most RPGs with an overarching plotline dotted with side quests don't offer the ability to fast-forward from Point A to Point B, completely bypassing everything along the way. The end areas have tougher monsters, forcing you to actually do things and level up. Areas are locked off until you can complete an objective to open it up. Etc. In Fallout 3 you could do the MQ in 15-20 minutes if you put some effort into it, with no actual difficulty because everything is level 1.
  8. ...there are signs all over the place.
  9. Indeed, casual players will continue to buy it. Whether you petition or boycott, casual players will shell out the bucks for the DLC. So why should Bethesda change what works for them? You've realized the pointlessness! Congratulations.
  10. Why make a whole server for petitions? I think a more pertinent question is why make a whole server for 2girls1cup. It's the internet, people dedicate servers to all kinds of worthless crap. I'm not saying make letters, or use a real petition, I'm saying just boycott them.
  11. A petition? Really? God, an online petition? You're really goin' for the big hit, aren'tcha? Just don't buy them. That's pretty easy, isn't it? As a consumer, your dollar is your voice.
  12. Interest killed. Interest resurrected.
  13. I think it could handle being 50px narrower. 100, even.
  14. I'd like to make a request. The request comes as three options, you can choose to do as many as you like. Option 1 Reduce the size allowance for signature images. Signatures shouldn't be longer than the average post. I seem to spend more time scrolling through signatures than relevant content. Option 2 Allow a user to toggle the visibility of a signature for an individual user. So, for example, I could turn off exanimis's signature, above, but leave LHammond's since it's reasonably sized and contains at least moderately useful information. Option 3 Do nothing. This is the easiest option. Thank you for your time.
  15. You'll notice, floggingmolly, that the title of this thread is the title of the quest granted by the distress signal. From that we can assume that he already knows what you've told him. As for being expelled from the Vault, it's inevitable. If you do something that opens the Vault, the people inside will leave - you may run into them out in the world. But that's the only way you'll see them again, and even then they say they probably shouldn't be talking to you.
