  1. Hi! I'm having a strange problem when creating 2048x2048 worldspace: When I load my esp in ck, the lod seems accurate but the actual land is somehow out of place. It's way too smooth, the altitudes are wrong and, most of all, it doesn't match with the lod at all. I repeated the whole process several times but the result is always the same. I'm using L3DT v.11.11. Can anyone help me?
  2. PROBLEM SOLVED: I needed save into .blend, then create another object (any mesh), then choose the skyrim mesh on object mode and now it will let me edit the importet nif file. The .blend file didn't work correctly on version 2.6 as I expected but I just dublicated the mesh and deleded the original in 2.49b. This new file thes works perfectly in 2.6. Weird, huh? Blender still gives me a warning: unsupportet bhk shape NoneType. I have already deleded the collision data. Is this something I should worry about? Thank you everyone for the support! This is what's so great in the community: if I have any kind of problem there's people willing to help you out. I'll come back crying here when I need to export my stuff back to nif. But now, I need to create some sweet meshes... -T
  3. NifSkope works just fine. What I'm trying to do is to get some Skyrim building meshes into Blender so I could modify them. Now Blender loads Skyrim models but doesn't let me edit them. Even if I select everything, it says "nothing selected".
  4. Thanks. I already figured that out :) I just wish I would get the importet meshes to work.
  5. For some reason the edit mode doesn't work with me. What version of Blender are you using? Can I use newer version than 2.49b that is mentioned in all the tutorials when working with nif files? In my opinion the newest one is easiest to use, and would prefer that. Also (this is a bit off-topic though) is there a sensible way for moving the camera in Blender? The tools are easy to use, but with more complex mesh it's sometimes quite impossible to hit the verticle I want to select because the camera orientation is like hell.
  6. Great, that worked! I really appreciate this. How do I edit my object now? I have made custom objects with blender before so I know the basics, but this won't let me switch into edit mode.
  7. Alright, I installed the version of NifSkope on the page above, and now my NifSkope gives me this error message: I'm going out of my mind here! I thought getting my Blender and other gear up and running would be the easy task...
  8. I still get error message: "unknown block type bhkCompressedMeshShapeData" I also followed another tutorial, which was almost the same, but it gave me the same result. I'm trying to import just a static architectual mesh, no armor, skeleton, body parts or anything. I removed every block that says BSLightingShaderProperty, changed the user version numbers etc. For some reason it just doesn't work,
  9. Hi! I just downloaded blender to see if I could make some custom models for Skyrim. I'd like to start with altering existing meshes, but for some reason I cannot import them in Blender. When I try to import them I only get an error message and the log says something like "value error: string too long". I have downloaded Blender (v.2.49b), Python, Pyffi, Nifscope and NifScrpts but am unsure wether I have the correct versions on each. My operating system is Windows 8 64 bit. Can anyone help me out? -T
  10. Thanks for the advice. I rarely delete the whole navmesh but I may have done so in few cases. I will try your trick and see how it works. Is it possible to recover the original navmesh somehow? Something like removing the data that I have altered so that the game would load the grid from the .esm file.
  11. Hi everyone! I've been working on a project to add more content to Skyrim exterior world, like small villages, new ruins etc. However, I always hit the same problem: once I remove the original navmesh from the cell and make a new one, all the npcs start acting stange. They act sluggish and seem to "think" of their every action for forever. Newly added npcs don't follow their schedules or completely stop doing anything after a while. When they finally DO act, they choose to walk repeatedly into walls or start wandering across half Skyrim. It's like everyone's on skooma! For example, I changed Morthal a bit. I added a house across the bridge near the mill and abviously made some changes to navmesh also. Now everyone who goes near the bridge gets stuck at the other end of it. In other case I made a whole new village but for some reason a patrolling guard gets in to this loop where he tries to enter a certain house, appears out of the door, enters again, again and again... Does anyone have any idea what am I doing wrong? Is it a common bug or does this happen to me only? Is it because of the navmesh or is the flaw in the npcs? I know how to make a navmesh, I know how to test it, how to finalize it, but nothing helps. It really bugs me. I'd be most grateful if someone can help me to work this out. -Tiera
  12. Hi! I'm working on a mod that changes gifts and favor reward items so that they would be more plausible (for example the Axe of Whiterun should not, in my opinion, be a Dwemer artifact or orcish weapon but could be an ancient nord weapon instead). However, I was unable to find how the reward items gained during the civil war quest are added - I didn't fit quest aliases for them. Can anyone help me locate them? I'm not sure if the items are even added the same way as many favor rewards but I just presume so. I thank greatly anyone willing to look into this.
  13. Thanks for the advice Ga-Knomboe Boy! That worked for me.
  14. I don't want to get stressed about travelling in Skyrim. I have used fast travel quite a lot (I have even fast travelled from Dragons Reach to Whiterun gate when I was going to visit the blacksmith!), but after I found a way to make the game look better and keep the same FPS I have noticed myself walking a lot more often. I also have adopted a playing style where I try to stay in one area (usually in one hold) for a bit longer. If I get send on a Companion quest into Haafingar I go there and do the job but then stay to pick up odd jobs in Solitude and discover locations on my way back. In this way I don't let the poor kidnapped Haafingar citizen to rot in the dungeon for weeks, but when the job is done why should i hurry back? The pay is not that good or anything. So now I see myself using fast travel only occationally when I need to get quickly from place to another. And I love my horse. And I go absolutely mad everytime my horse gets killed by some cowardly archer bandits! Does anyone know if there's a mod that would make your horse actually avoid battle instead of charging in like a ferocious beast?
  15. I think playing "evil" character in these games is not too easy. You can murder and pillage all right but there's somehow not class in it. I liked Fallout NW's approach on moral issues. The main quest there was also great as it left the player room for personal motives. I wish I could see someting similar in Elder Scrolls also. Anyway, in my current game I have a "rule" not to loot corpses from their clothes and armor - unless they wear real treasures on them, of course. I also try to clear dungeons before looting the dead and containers. I also try to let the buried be. It's actually quite refreshing not to have to check every dead bandit and burial urn all the time. First things first: killing, then looting. I've never been good in concentrating in just one thing. Therefore my characters tend to focus on many skills which is, I know, not very powerfull in the sense of maximizing your character. But I have rules that my character can only take small ammout of stuff with me when heading out, and the things to take with him/her depend on the situation. When hunting my character wears light armor, carries a bow and some other weapon. If I know there will be some heavy fighting I wear heavy armor and take the best weapons. If I'm heading north I'll take a fur cloak just for the immersion. I also try to fight on horseback whenever I encounter enemies while riding. This is currently driving me mad since I'm really poor in fighting on horseback in Skyrim! Thankfully there are mods to enhance riding.
