  1. I am using SkyTEST and there are so many creatures out in the wilds with the exception of goats. No wild goats to be seen anywhere in the plains or on the mountains. Even in the villages like Rorikstead there is just ONE goat and it's child (thanks to SkyTEST). Even in vanilla Skyrim I rarely (read never) came across a goat in the wilds. Therefore, I would really appreciate it if someone could make a simple mod that adds a moderate amount of wild goat spawns to random points in the wilderness, thus completing the list of creatures that are found and can be hunted in the wild. I have searched the nexus, forums and google and cannot find such a mod anywhere, so I would be extremely grateful to anyone who could make this simple (I think) mod. Cheers!
  2. Haha! And I thought retexturing was for the professional modders! Not that i'm saying you're not good, just that it's funny how both of us (and i'm sure a lot of other people too) have such a different idea of modding and have started out with such varying approaches. Btw, i'd love to know whether you've put up any mods on the nexus or elsewhere. I don't mean to advertise but I made two texture mods recently, my first ventures into real modding (which you've been doing already, lol). They're here if you want to check them out>> http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38236/ http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38389/ Great to have a brother who can conjure up a PC when you like, lol! About my suggestions, well for whatever my 2 cents is worth, don't ever go for a pre-assembled rig. There are a lot of advantages of building one on your own such as much cheaper prices, full customization and you'll learn a lot in the process. With a pre-built rig you'll be paying a moderate to heavy premium for the brand name, services etc. I've built the last two PC's i've owned myself and can safely say it's the best method. A little effort and everything will be great later. You've even got a techie to help you! About that site maingear.com, it looks great but i doubt it will be cheap, can't say much else since i don't live in the US. Here, take a look at this. It's a great way to learn how to build your own rig>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roFb3TNePIg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-XINXaLdrE http://www.google.co.in/search?client=opera&q=youtube+build+your+own+gaming+pc+under+1500&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest So, how did the changes i suggest go? And you're welcome, this is what we are all here for, on the nexus.
  3. Hey man, thanks for the links, pretty interesting stuff. Now that I've looked at those pages, I think I've finally come to understand the problem you've been encountering. And I think it can be fixed by increasing the shadow resolution to 4K or 4096. So here's how to change/find your shadow settings. Go to Users/<yourname>/My Documents/My Games/Skyrim and open up SkyrimPrefs.ini (it's a configurations settings text file). In it you should find the following under the [Display] section: iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 (or 1024 or 4096) iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048 (or 1024 or 4096) iShadowMapResolution=2048 (or 1024 or 4096) then open up Skryim.ini and change under [Display] iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 to whatever number you put in your skyrimprefs.ini. So just change the number from whatever you have to 4096. (I've added those extra numbers in brackets ahead of 2048 just to show the other numbers that could be in that place, don't put that stuff in your SkyrimPrefsini file) There is a significant fps drop for people with older cards such as mine (Nvidia GeForce GTS 450) but if you have something equal to or better than a 500 series or 600 series card, then it shouldn't matter. If you've got a powerful card you can even change the following setting to a higher number iBlurDeferredShadowMask=2 (i suggest using max 3) This will blur all shadows a little and greatly reduce shadow striping effects. In conjunction with 4K shadows it gets rid of them completely in all areas where the Depth Bias of lights are wrong. So try out these settings and tell me if there's any improvement. And could you put up your system specs please? PS: I'm a bit surprised that you may be unaware of ini tweaks such as the above since, to my knowledge, that's the first thing people tend to do when modding skyrim. Anyway, here are some links to help with ini tweaking >> http://itcprosolutions.com/skyrimguides/tweak_guide.htm http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/articles/1153//? http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-improve-skyrim-with-ini-file-tweaks/ http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide#14 http://skyrimforums.org/threads/mouse-camera-fixes.10188/ And here are my ini files for reference: SkyrimPrefs.ini Skyrim.ini And always make a backup of your ini files before editing them, it's easier to go on changes back that way. Happy modding!
  4. I'm just curious cos I've never heard of the problem being so bad before, but what resolution are your shadows set at? 1K, 2K, 4K? And didn't setting the fShadowBiasScale=1.0000 solve anything? And could you please put up the link to the CK lighting tutorial that you mentioned earlier? Thanks.
  5. Wow man, i didn't know you could change the depth bias for each light source in the CK! I was just using the settings that i posted above as a small fix. Anyway, glad you could solve the problem you were having!
  6. No prob man, glad if i could help! Why don't you put up a screenshot of the problem, it would make things clearer.
  7. Great idea man! I'll get on it immediately! Thanks a whole bunch again! Oh, and i meant start modding from scratch, not playing, lol! Wait a minute, if i have to disable my mods then that means i'll have to start modding from scratch. So i guess it had to happen, lol. Thanks for your time anyway man.
  8. @ prod80 - Ok, so i tested out your settings but no change, sorry! The funny thing is the stars far away nearer to the lower parts of the sky, nearer to the horizon are fading in and out beautifully as i've always seen them, but the ones right above my head straight up are just going crazy, blinking everywhere! Looks like i'll have to restart my modding from scratch unless i find a fix soon, it's driving me crazy! :(
  9. @ prod80 - Wow man, i really appreciate the time you've taken out to help me! I already tried launching it without any mods and with reset ini's but i'll give your settings a go anyway! Thanks a lot again! I have an update on the issue (i haven't yet applied your settings) - On one side of the sky the stars are twinkling perfectly, fading in and out beautifully, but in the opposite side of the sky they are just blinking on and off very jarringly and noticeably. This has been happening since my first post.
  10. Yes sir, as i have posted earlier the problem persists even without COT, Enhanced night skyrim or FXAA injector! I'll give your mod a go and report back soon. No change with your mod, sorry! Thanks for the quick reply! BTW, i have just uploaded the original video file in which the problem is very apparent. Please tell me what you think.
  11. @ chevenga - New vid added, please check! As you will see, stars are going on and off in jerks while moving. Even in this new video you may feel it is not apparent but that's due to the lower quality that Youtube changed it to. It's extremely jarring and apparent to me, and never happened before that's why i noticed it. I'll upload both the original better quality vids onto mediafire or something now. Anyway, thanks for taking out time and watching the vid! HERE'S THE ORIGINAL HIGHER QUALITY VIDEO FILE, PLEASE WATCH >> http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/37796420/file.html
  12. Correct me if i'm wrong but Z-fighting is an issue related to the flickering of textures/decals on mountains and bodies in the distance and not to shadows. So i doubt you have the z-fighting problem. My best fix for flickering shadows is this>> Put the following in skyrimprefs.ini in you my documents/my games/skyrim folder under [Display] section add/edit fShadowBiasScale=1.0000 bDeferredShadows=0 and if you're talking about a kind of soft shadow/glow around your character then change iBlurDeferredShadowMask=2 or 1
  13. Thanks anyway man! By the way i'll be uploading a clearer video in the next 10 minutes or so, so check back if you want a better idea of the problem. I also shifted the ugrids back to 5, but no change. :( NEW VIDEO, PROBLEM CLEARER >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4GMIPKOOKk&feature=youtu.be
  14. @ prod80 - Thanks for the reply! I put the changes in the ini file and tried the command but the console kept saying it didn't recognize 'timevalue' so i went and searched online and found the command to be 'set timescale to' which i tried with the values 10 and then 1 but all it did was make the sky update itself after a few seconds and the stars would suddenly jump a bit ahead every few seconds. So it just slowed down the problem, making it more apparent. I'm getting around 60 fps at night, no stuttering and i just added the latest enbseries mod files with no presets and rerouted my FXAA d3d9.dll through the ENB and though no enb affects are active, my FPS in the day time just went from 25-30 to 50-60, just like that. And the FXAA injector was still working, i tested it. So it's definitely not a performance issue, just saying. HERE'S A VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC5JDtSGjR0&feature=youtu.be Watch in 720p full screen, sorry for vid quality best i could do in a short time. The problem is most apparent near the end of the video. As you can see fps is good and smoke and clouds are smooth, only stars are stuttering.
  15. True. Add or edit iPresentInterval=1 under [Display] in skyrimprefs.ini and save the file. That should switch on V-sync. You might want to switch on Triple buffering from you video card settings to increase performance with V-sync.
