  1. I see, the only problem with using perks is compatibility. I usually play or with Requiem or with SkyRe, unless an completely new perk tree is added for cooking. @Corpsehatch, looking foward to see your work, what's the name of your new mod?
  2. Hi I usually use mods that increase the number of recipes, like cooking expanded, and I'm suprised that no-one has never thought of a mod that requires learning or experience points to have access to the recipes. Cooking perks, is a cool mod that obviously uses perks, but using perks causes lots of compatibility issues. I'm not a mod maker, but is it in anyway possible to make a mod that automatically recognizes the recipes installed (like reproccer for weapons) and then depending on the recipes cooked it will give you experience points that can be used to enable other recipes in the cooking menu. This could be done using something similar to Hunterborn, where skinning skills are increased through a dialogue box. Any ideas on how to do this, or is there a mod out there that I've missed that does something similar to what I've described?
  3. Hey. Just remembered about one issue that has always bothered me. You can't SELL horses!!!!  If you are implementing ownership of stolen horses to player, there must be a way to do the opposite. Steal horses a then sell them, that would be cool feature I think.
  4. Hi sevencardz. No the resources are a simple texture/mesh package. When I started my project, it was simply to learn how to use blender, but anyhow here is the link http://nmm.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/45540. Textures with horse "wearing" horseshoes don't exist. There is also a lot of scripting involved to make the horse wear it's horseshoe's, if the method I described in earlier post is to be used. In short, it's a lot of work!!. To make it a little easier, another approach is to vary horse speed depending on what type of horseshoe is in horses inventory. In this case you don't need to modify horse textures, the cons is you lose immersion since horse doesn't wear horseshoes, but at least you need to make a horseshoe to change horse speed which is more immersive than what is currently present in skyrim, and to my knowledge there is no mod that currently does this. Cheers and happy new year.
  5. Hi just found this thread. Reading your description about speed increase on horses I came up with a similar idea but using a different approach. unfortunately for RL issues and my low modding skills I've abbandoned my project for the moment. This was my idea if you're interested: Speed is increased by different horseshoes (Iron 5% increase, steel 10%, dwarven 15% and ebony 20% approx.). these horse shoes are craftable and depend on player smithing skill by using the appropriate ingot. To shoe your horse, you must have in inventory 4 horseshoes of the same type, then standing next to your horse, enter sneaking mode and dropping horseshoe from your inventory will shoe your horse. Only problem with this method is if you want to remove horseshoes to restore vanilla values, haven't figured out a method for this. On nexus there is a modder resource with textures and meshes for horse shoes, I'll give you the link if you're interested.
  6. @bcofer: More or less what I understood is that there is indeed a free download version of 3dsmax on their official website for students and teachers, but you must prove (I don't know how) that you are attending one of the schools recoginzed by them. @nivea: thanks for the link; I didn't know this one. As for the modders who look down on blender users, I don't really care, lucky them if they can get their hands on 3dsmax or whatever 3D program for "free" due to their professional activity, as I said before, for me it's a hobby.
  7. Npc's acting like mannequins? Are you using any FNIS related mods? That could be the issue, remember to regenerate FNIS files everytime you remove or install mods that use FNIS.
  8. Hello everyone. First I must say I’m a complete beginner to modelling meshes and using 3d programs. My first choice is Blender as it’s free and this is a hobby for me, so I’m really not interested in buying costly 3d applications. I’ve been reading at all sorts of tutorials for Blender and they are all very useful, but the main difficulty I’ve found is how to import/export Skyrim Nif files to Blender, since all info I’ve found is outdated. I’ve followed step by step this tutorial (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3790) strictly using the old versions mentioned in the tutorial. So I’ve the following questions. Is there no new method to import/export Nif’s to Blender? Is there no new version of Blender Nifskope scripts or other tool that deals with incompatible nodes? Because I always get lots of errors in console and in order to use Blender, half the nodes have to be eliminated in Nifskope before importing to Blender, which is ridiculous. In short, is there some other method that is not outdated that simplifies importing/exporting nif files to blender, or can you please direct me to a good forum or webpage that can give me technical help? Thanks to all.
  9. @mastabenja Yes I already installed Nifskope, blender and scripts to import nif and gimp for the meshes. I mean just to change formats from .nif to .blend is as you say a real pain in the..... :( Thats was why I was asking if there was an easier way to do it, or if some modder had made a resourse program that took care of this process.
  10. I'm totally new to texture/mesh modelling. I'm trying to learn how to use blender, but all the information I've found on how to import .NIF format to blender is outdated. Infact the info I've found refer to blender 2.49b since the scripts to import NIF apparently work only for this version. So there is no way to use blender 2.71 with NIF format? Or is it better to use another 3d tool for NIF format?
  11. Thank you guys. I'll check out those meshes. I'm still confused on how to fit them on players horse. I don't think you can use the slots. @nivea that inventory script you have, could it also be used to shoe (equip) horses? Btw it's correct to say "shoeing" :)
  12. Hello community I was looking for a mod where you can smith your own horse shoes which will give player’s horses certain benefits. Searched on the Nexus for such a mod with no success, so I was planning to make one. Now, I’m no experienced mod maker, so my question is obviously, how come this has never been done before after all this time, is it because it is technically impossible with creation kit or is it simply not worth all the work? I checked on CK and no meshes or textures are present, so I was thinking to use Blender to make them, is that a good 3D tool? Also, is it possible to mount horse shoes on player’s horse? How, through scripts? Thanks for any insights.
  13. Hello everyone. I was looking for a mod that allows you to enter the perk tree and exit (tab/esc key) without being forced to select magica/stamina/health and level-up. Why? Because very often debuffs/buffs are active (powers/amulets/rings/ecc.) and you might want to check before actually levelling up. Probably if this hasn't already been done it's because the level up system is coded inside skyrim engine and cannot be changed by an external mod. Anyone have insights on this topic? I believe that if this type mod can be done it would most probably be popular. Is anyone interested in making such a mod for skyrim?
  14. I would like some help. Is it safe to do a cleaning of the dirty edits by using TES5Edit_3_0_24_EXP and following the Wiki guide step by step? The following list is from BOSS. These warnings appeared when the 1.8 patch came out, but I'm still using version 1.7. Which are safe to clean? Update.esm Active Contains dirty edits: 50 ITM, 1 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. 15. Hello I have looked for this topic but couldn't find anything, so I decided to start this thread. I have this vigilant of stendarr hunter following me everywhere, is this a dawnguard related bug, or is it supposed to work in this way? thank you
