  1. Here's hoping I can go back to FFXIV if I get the gift! <3
  2. In response to post #35087280. #35125815, #35168160, #35181215, #35183765, #35186770, #35201575 are all replies on the same post. Alternatively, in Firefox (could work for other browsers too, not sure) you can hold CTRL and then click on the mod. It will work the same way as the middle button.
  3. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I have no idea where to turn to for help, so I thought it would not hurt to try to find it here on the forums. In November I got a new computer, a powermachine for me, at least, who used to play in a fairly good Notebook. Skyrim worked fine in the Notebook and I was actually used to low FPS, since mostly I would play the game to take screenshots. However, in this new computer I got (desktop, no longer a Notebook), I can not seem to make Skyrim work. I have very few mods installed (Race Menu, Ningheim, Alternate Start and the Unofficial patches; no textures mods of any sort). To start, my spec are: The launcher starts preloaded without a selected resolution and with aspect ratio 4:3 or something similar. The resolution of the monitor does not show among the other options when I first run the launcher. Instead, the highest it shows is 2560 x 1440. Manually, I pick the aspect ratio and ignore the resolution to add it directly on the INI file. The game loads, but predictably so, the aspect ratio seems to be stuck to 4:3 even though I have the settings to Ultra and manually adjusted the ratio to 16:9 (since 21:9 will not show). At least, it seems like that because the top tabs of the Race Menu disapper, seemingly cut off by the low ratio or the resolution (or maybe both). Screenshot The keyboard does not seem to work, or the mouse. I can not do anything and I have to get out of the game through one of two possible ways: calling the console (strange, I know, but it works for this) and using "qqq" or using the classic CTRL+ALT+DEL to call on the Task Manager and kill Skyrim there. It could be a problem with SKSE, I suppose, but I already uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Also, worth mentioning, since it is a new game, I completely redownloaded and reinstalled Skyrim, even though having a backup in my external HD. What is also intriguing, is that it can not seem to handle any ENB 264, whereas my old notebook could, though I would leave the effects turned off and would only turn them on when I wanted to take screenshots. Does anyone have any ideas of what is going on and how I can fix it? I am starting to get bored already of Dragon Age Inquisition. Thank you in advance for any help provided. EDIT: Heh, just figured what was the problem with keyboard and mouse. Skyrim detected my XBOX controller installed and was using it instead. Apologies!
  4. Very good read, both the article and your post. I tried to "sell" the idea of joining the Nexus for a friend, but he told me that he only trusted Steam Workshop because he knows that mods there are verified and approved before going to the public (or some such). He expressed worries about using a resource like the Nexus because he said there was no way he could trust that the content he downloaded would be secure, virus free and so on. Then I said that he had no idea about what he was loosing and that I never saw here anything like the fears he has. I swear, I gave him every bit of positive and negative arguments about why Nexus was a trusted site, why I was a Premium member and how much the site was worth it, from the mods to the community to the leader but... ...I failed. He is so stubborn. =( I completely understand all his points and his insecurities, but I insisted that he should give a try some day and showed images of my modded game vs vanilla Skyrim, saying that the only problem I have with mods is that I can't get enough and my game is always unstable due to my own greed, that makes me always keep my mod count to 200+ (shame on me, I know! ) . I lost count of how many times I had to reinstall Skyrim from scratch and start a new game over and over again, but it does not matter how many times, I always get back playing and downloading the mods because they make my Skyrim experience so much better and beautiful and fun and everything else! I will always be thankful to you for creating the Nexus and the only thing I have to thank Steam Workshop for, is for those modders who always placed a link to the Nexus and that attracted my attention enough to come here, check, stay and not ever go away. Not any time soon, anyway! ;) Thanks a lot for the Nexus, Dark0ne! EDIT: Typos, always typos. This is what I get for not being a native english speaker! ;)
  5. I tried the DEP fix, but I play with SKSE and, surprisingly enough, DEP refuses to add skse_loader.exe to the exception list. I keep having the crashes and I lost count of how many times I have to started a new game from scratch, advance not too far in the story (The Greybeards is the farthest I was able to go) and I will still get CTDs.
  6. You just need to temporarily remove the "tintmasks" folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data\Textures\Actors\Character\Character Assets or something like that, I forgot the full path). In the CK the contents of the folder will be regenerated to the Vanilla defaults, so you are going to lose any custom warpaints you would have wanted to use - I did not find a fix for these yet. Custom warpaints is the only thing I cannot change about the characters I make or edit. After you are done working with the CK, just put the tintmasks folder back where it belongs and your character should be fine in game.
  7. Now that I have tested the game with SkyUI again, it is working. I decided to try it out because it is a very good mod and I could not believe that it was responsible for causing all those problems to my game. I do not know what happened to make it crash days ago when I was having all the problems after the update to 3.2, but I can only guess it might be some weird conflict with an unknown mod. As for Skyrim's 1.9 patch, the performance changes are impressive. Do not be afraid to try it out! So far, I did not find any issues with the update yet.
  8. If you are having this problem today, your case might be different than mine. My Skyrim updated to 1.9 even though I set it on Steam to not automatically update. If that is your case, it might be problems of compatibility with Skyrim's new version. If not, if you are having all these problems in the past few days, what solved it for me was a complete uninstall/reinstall of Skyrim, removing the whole Skyrim folder within Steam's path. This time I did not install SkyUI either. I had to let go of a few mods that depended on MCM, but it was worth it because now I am CTD-free. I have one or two hang load screens sometimes, but that's about it. You could have a corrupted save, although when I was asking around in the SkyUI thread about my issues with 3.2, not even uninstalling 3.2 and going back to 3.1 solved it, regardless if it was a week's old save, a month's or only a few hours recent. I am not entirely sure, however, that SkyUI is to blame. It could have been something else but since I got no help trying to understand the Papyrus log or uninstalling a lot of script-intensive mods and only a full reinstall solved it, I am wary of using SkyUI anytime soon. As for your Papyrus log, I can see a few similarities to mine in some lines, but that is all I can do. I do not know what is causing your CTD. If I could read Papyrus logs, I think I would not have needed to reinstall my Skyrim. =( The similarities are: (...) [03/19/2013 - 12:41:57AM] Cannot open store for class "dlc1scwispwallscript", missing file? [03/19/2013 - 12:41:58AM] Cannot open store for class "DLC2BenthicLurkerFXSCRIPT", missing file? (...) Some of Convenient Horses' lines (...) Some of Wet and Cold And that is it. I cannot see any other lines similar to those that were in my scripts. If you can not find further help in the forums, I would recommend to do what I did; the complete uninstall/reinstall. I had to give up on my old saves too and start a completely new game. Hopefully, though, you might be able to find help for your case.
  9. Yep, that solved everything. Well, partially. I got hung in load screens twice, but nothing like was happening before. Ctrl+alt+del solved it and did not corrupt my save and when I tried to load the game again the screen did not hang again. Thanks a lot, vlaka! However, this was before I went to sleep. Now that I am awake and was going to play again, I found out that despite having set Steam and the game to not automatically update, Skyrim was updated anyway to 1.9. That explained to me why suddenly Arthmoor was updating all his patches and mods. =( I will try to play as is with the same mods, but if the problems start, I guess I will have to wait until all those mods I am using are updated before I can actually jump into the action again.
  10. Yes, the cache verification recovers a file everytime I check it. I did not know before what was the file. I suspect, however, that it is the renderer file because everytime that the cache recovered a file and I started the launcher it would check again my system and set it to low. As soon as I get home (currently writing from work) I will do as you suggested. The last reinstall I performed I did not remove any leftover folders. I hope that will work. Tomorrow is my day off anx I would want to advance Skyrim as much as I can to go past those damn Bleak Falls Barrow (I am sick of that place) and one or another place that I always nedd to visit because pending quests drive me mad and I have to take and finish them all. =P
  11. Yes, TESEdit does not find anything wrong, which is why I am asking around in the forum. The game worked for some time after I uninstalled the unused, troublesome video driver, but then it got back hanging in the load screens. I am just coming back from a Ctrl+Alt+Del and killing Skyrim through the Task Manager after being stuck for 14 minutes in a load screen as soon as I was getting out of Embershard Mine. I no longer have installed texture mods that alter caves or landscape, so, my next step will be to uninstall Realistic Lighting Overhaul and/or Skyrim Project Optmization. If that does not work... As for the picture, for some reason direct linking to them image takes one to the Nexus picture gallery - I tried to do something like that a couple of weeks ago when direct linking two pictures of mine in a description of another picture I posted. I am afraid you will have to look for it in my profile. =(
  12. Nothing is working. I am about to give up playing Skyrim. I reduced my mods list from 240+ to 175 mods, removed most Scripted mods, reinstalled Skyrim and the CTDs keep happening. When it is not the CTDs, it is the loading screens. They are absurdly high, they keep hanging forever, and when I hit ctrl+alt+del, it shows that Skyrim is not responding on the Task Manager. I tried a new game some three times already and the problems keeps happening. I stopped using ENBs, I stopped using highly demanding mods like SFO, I stopped installing all the texture mods I was using (reduced the amount to half).I tried to load Skyrim from Ultra to High to Medium and there was no change and I doubt that Low setting will be any different. I tried to optmize the textures.. It does not make sense to keep having these problems. My system is a Windows 8 (yes, I know, I am about to find someone to throw that OS in the trash or burn it at the stake and reinstall Windows 7), I have an Intel and an AMD Radeon graphic card (specs in my profile); I do not use them both, I keep one disabled since it only gives me trouble - the AMD - and the Intel one was the one that came installed despite Dell advertising the AMD graphic card as the one installed. I just uninstalled AMD, by the way, in hopes that the CTDs and hanging screens might be consequence of conflicting graphic cards. I will test the game again after I finished this post. Both graphic cards have 2 gb each, my RAM is 8 gb, a processor of 2.2ghz (only 100 or 300 ghz lower than my previous machine)... I checked the integrity of the cache and it always recovers one file I have no idea what is (not the intro video); I wish Steam would let you know what file is missing and being recovered so I could at least have an idea what could be causing all these problems and if they are related with that damn file that needs to be recovered every time. Even after recovering said file, I keep having the same problems, they keep going on and on and on and on... This is so damn frustrating! Can anyone help me, pretty please? I can share Papyrus Logs and SkSE logs. I can post again my mods list and load order. Just let me know what you need to help me find what is going on. =( EDIT: It also does not make any sense that Skyrim Loader keeps telling me that my setting should be Low with the machine I have. What on earth is going on? EDIT1: I see some hope in the horizon. I believe the problem was with the video cards, but it is too soon to be sure. I just posted a picture of something I have never noticed before in Riverwood during this, so far, trouble-free playthrough.
  13. That is possible, Bullfye. I have the "Inhabitants of Skyrim NPC Overhaul" that changes the looks of a lot of NPCs. I will uninstall it and test to see if it will solve the problem of the CTDs, but there will still remain the problem of the CTDs in some saves when I try to access menus in any way. Anyway, if the constant CTDs stop with the uninstallation of the NPC Overhaul, then it will be worth it and I can just start a new game again with working menus and no CTDs. I will try that and will come back after a couple of days to report, or in less time, if the problem remains.
  14. Well, this is the Papyrus Log save in one of my characters, one of my oldest saves that I saved again when I thought it was working, unlike the save below: Ikyrath. In this one, SkyUI and the menu works, I just have CTDs out of the blue, in any situation. Even if I am only standing idle: it CTDs after a couple of moments. And this is one of the most recent (like, right now), in a different character. It crashed when I was looting a corpse, shortly before the inventory menu appeared: Talaebaste There is a lot of lines "cluxChildkiller" or some such that I have no idea if it has something to do with Claralux, which I uninstalled ages ago while I was in a smaller, interior cell. I did that for both saves. The error with the mannequin has been going on forever too, even before I installed the Vanilla Fix - they simply increased in amount after the fix was installed. I did not add any mannequins via console and I am actually thinking about disabling via console each and every one I see in game. I read somewhere, however, that those mannequin messages are harmless.
  15. The largest save I have is a bit over 11 mb, but still not close to 12 mb. I tried to look at Papyrus log, but it is like trying to read chinese. I have no idea about what I should check for. The last lines always accuse the mannequin issue, both before and after I installed that vanilla fix mod; they are the warnings with most lines. Aside that, what should I look for in the logs? If someone else is willing to take a look for me, I can upload the log, compressed to 7zip, Winrar or Winzip, to my MediaFire account.
