  1. For future reference, punctuation is awfully helpful for people who might be interested in helping you out. :D But you've been around here for a while, so I won't be annoying about it. :P At any rate, do you use OBMM or BOSS? OBMM would tell you what gets overwritten between the two mods, and since they're pretty similar (I guess, I don't use either) that can be helpful for deciding what you want to do. And BOSS can put everything where it needs to go load-order wise. Both can be found through a quick search of the Nexus. Hope that helped! Triforce1
  2. It appears the author sporadically takes it down and puts it back up for one reason or another. Whatever the reason may be, just hang around for a little while. It's been down a few times before, but Iliana has thus far always put it back. I did hear that it was hosted on Megaupload as well. No idea though, I'd just wait. That way, you respect the author for whatever reason they had for hiding it and you also get whatever updates are current. It's a great mod. Waiting didn't make it any less so for me. Hope my cyclical answer helped a little. ;) Triforce1
  3. I love talking mods, it's been a long time since I've been able to do so. There are so many favorites, this may be a slightly longer list than you wanted. But one can never have too many mods, am I right? :D Mandatory -Unofficial Oblivion Patch -Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplement -Oblivion Script Extender Almost Mandatory: -Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul -Alternative Start by Ship -Better Cities -Companion Share and Recruit -DarkUI'd Darn -Deadly Reflex -Keychain -Natural Environments -Real Lava -Reznod's Mannequins -Unique Landscapes Compilation (there's also an OMOD of all of the patches for these mods - they install automatically and I recommend that too) Like Great Textures and Better Meshes? -Qarl's Texture Pack III (get the patch to make it play nice with the UOP) -Alluring Potion Bottles -Alluring Wine Bottles -High Resolution Book Jackets -Imperial Bank (comes with an excellent gold retexture I recommend) -Improved Horses -Landscape LOD Textures Replacement -Loading Screens Themed Replacers (there's quite a few, with compatibility for DarkUI'd Darn, OOO, and add-ons for several of the mods listed) -Darker Regal Imperial City -Merged Maps -LOD Noise Replacer New Quests and New Lands -Elsweyr Deserts of Anequina -Kvatch Rebuilt -Dragon Captions' The Elder Council -Stirk -The Lost Spires Got Any DLC? -Colored Shivering Isles World Map -High Resolution Book Jackets SI -Bomret's Texture Pack SI -Battlehorn Castle Enhanced (Fighter's Stronghold) -Frostcrag Reborn (Wizard's Tower) New Guild Stuff -A Brotherhood Renewed (Dark Brotherhood) -Theives Guild HQ Unhealthy Competition (Thieves Guild) -Origin of the Mages Guild (Mages Guild) Other Stuff I Recommend -Animated Window Lighting System -More Than Almost Everything Visible When Distant (get the Lite version if you want your computer to live) -Clocks of Cyrodiil That was a much longer list than I had anticipated. I had intended to hyperlink them all, but that was beginning to seem ridiculous. Search them all on the Nexus, you'll find them. Except for the MTAEVWD mod, I believe you can find that on Planet Elder Scrolls. Also, Lost Spires has it's own website. Oh, and Improved Horses is on AlienSlof's site, if you want that. I hope my absurd list is helpful, and good luck with your modding! -Triforce1 --EDIT-- It occurs to me that I forgot utilities! I figured I might mention them, as they make installing a ton of mods fairly easy and painless. You're probably already familiar with these, but I'll mention them for posterity. :) -Better Oblivion Sorting Software -ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! -Oblivion Mod Manager -The Elder Scrolls LOD Generator -Operation Optimization -Streamline
  4. My own remedy to the situation. Whenever I want to summon a mount I have made, I use this tutorial here. I made several in the past, and even my own Daedroth mount mod uses the same principle. If the above is better (as it is shorter), don't hesitate to use it. My own two cents, is all. As far as getting stuck in walls, I've never had that issue when using this method, but I guess you'll see in your own situation. Good luck! Triforce1
  5. This would be incredibly difficult, if not entirely unfeasible. If I read your request right, you're asking that many mods that do the same thing be grouped together? In any case, that would be difficult. The main problem I see is getting all of those modders to agree to lump their hard work into a big package. And you would still run into overwrite issues. There is really no easy way to do such a thing, though I don't hold anything against you for asking. :D My recommendation is this. You say you aren't really familiar with the tools of the trade? Tell you what, I was certainly not either. Most people aren't in the beginning. But mod tools are really your best friend. I'd get Oblivion Mod Manager, if you're familiar with it. Really quite simple to use, once you get the hang of it. If you can't figure it out the first time, just ask around. Or, look here. ;) Download your mods, load them into here as per instructions, and you have a one stop shop for all of your mods in a list, and you can uninstall / install them at the click of a button. Of course, you should install in a certain order, but if you've gotten this far then we can get to that later. Once you have that sorted out, go for Better Oblivion Sorting Software. Follow those relatively simple instructions (put in your Data file and run the Batch) and all of your .esm's and .esp's are pretty much guaranteed to be in the right place. I had a devil of a time figuring that out the first time, then I found BOSS and now I never worry about it. I've also gotten a tad smarter in that realm, as well. And as far as not knowing which mods to download, there a lot of resources on that as well. Though, really your best bet will be to use the lovely search bar on the TES Nexus homepage. Pick some keywords and go with it. And check the Top Mods list from time to time. Good ones are guaranteed to how up there. :) Happy modding! Triforce1
  6. Leave it to someone else to beat into my head something that really should be obvious to begin with. The more I think about it, the more I'm liking the idea of just making a new, small world space and mapping that out instead. The performance hit on that rock was ridiculous as it was. And, perhaps, we can forget about the crazy idiot who tried to build a flying island out of a huge freaking rock? Thanks so much. :p
  7. Well, I have a feeling it won't matter anyway, thank you. :( See, to give you a good picture representation, I threw a high resolution rock texture (turned out to be about 1024x1024) onto it, added some serious collision (so you could walk on it), and dropped it into the game world in the air next to the Imperial City. As it is, it takes up a few square cells, I'd say about the same surface size or bigger than the Imperial City itself. But the issue is, the game lagged ridiculous while I was in the cells it occupied (and it was loaded and visible, of course). Completely and totally unplayable. And the texture would still need to be far better than just 1024 square, I can see that. I'm not sure what specifically caused this lag, in truth, because a similarly sized texture of vanilla quality caused no lag at all. So, I assume texture. There is no picture to judge scale because I could not take one, the lag was so bad. So, if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, thank you. Otherwise, I'll just have to figure out something else.
  8. I recently finished a rather large static object for use in Oblivion, and I want to texture it. It is essentially a giant rock, meant to be used as a large floating island. Because it was meant to be a chunk of terrain where none could be actually generated, it has a pretty high poly count, about 27K tri's. A quick search of the Nexus tells me this number is acceptable, (by comparison to, say, an armor I found that professes to have over 86K tri's) if to only more well-equipped PC's. As it is meant for terrain, I intend to texture it in vanilla land textures, the same tiling ones found in the terrain editor. I can do that, no problem. However, I have a few questions, and to the half of you who are still reading this, thanks, because I thought a little / lot of background was in order. :p Now, to business. 1) How large should the texture map be? I understand the scaling rule, but the largest I've seen are high resolution LOD textures 4096x4096 in size. What would you recommend the size of my map be? A single texture for this object would be preferred, so what do you think? 2) When I wrote this, I thought I had another question. Now, I guess not. So, if anyone has anything interesting to say, then please do tell me. ;) Thanks a ton.
  9. Qarl's Texture Pack III Unique Landscapes Compilation Better Cities Of course, these are "favorites," laid over top of other "must-haves" such as: Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul DarkUI'd Darn (+DarkUI Themed Loading Screens) The Unofficial Patches Kvatch Rebuilt Animated Window Lighting System If you expanded it out past three, I could list a few more. As it is, it's really hard to narrow it down like that. That's why I failed miserably. :D
  10. Haha idk, skype is just never on on my computer because most people use AIM or facebook to talk to me haha :-P ah back when things were simple :-D
  11. March was last month. My last one, before you, was in December. I dunno what you've been reading... :p Anyway, why do I never hear from you on Skype anymore? Those were the days...
  12. lol nooooo my last one was in like March!
  13. But you seem to have had a comment yesterday...
  14. Omg you haven't had a comment in so long! You need one just as bad as I do!
  15. This is quite true, thank you both. However, I have tried both and neither solution is much to my taste. I do like the ability to fast travel every now and again, so not being able to would put kind of a kink in my style. Also, the toggle map markers console command never saves for me, so I get the places, already discovered, added to my map, for just that session. When I open the game once more, everything has gone back to normal. I was hoping for a mod that bridged the gap, as I described above. I would make it myself, but I've never been good with the inner mechanics of the CS. Thanks for the suggestions anyway, though. Anyone else got any input?
