Iam a huge fan of elderscrolls and realistic viking swords. By searching the nexus i found many good lorefriendly swords and also some really nice realistic looking vikingsswords (such as the "stamford" and the "thegn") What i not found is a sword that combines both (lorefriendly and nordic style). Some may ask: "what is the problem? Use the stamford it's so awesome" And yes that's right but it don't fill in the overall look of skyrim. What i search for is a nordic sword (or some nordic swords) who look like they are made for the game (back in 2011) with slightly better textures (1K max) but could also been a fantastic version of an realistic looking viking-sword from the 9 or 10th century but with a other dimensions. The aim should be a look that is different to the curved nordic weapons of solstheim, the very nasty curved ancient style found in the ancient tombs around in skyrim and the very bulky style of the 4. Era ( Iron and Steel weapons) The overall length should be a bit shorter than the steelsword. (90 to 95 % of the steelsword) The blade should be straight (without curves and anything) but slightly tapering to the tip of the blade. (My english is terrible so i will make a sketch: It's only a very rough 2D Version of a possible nordic-type sword (only to show the parts of the sword and a rough idea of dimensions) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/Images/409307/? Normal dimensions of a viking sword: overall between 780 - 950 mm (30,7 inch - 37,4 inch) (for a normal person 37,4 inch is more than the half of the body (consider a 6 feet 0 inches guy) The sword i made this thread for should be a bit longer maybe 1000 - 1100 mm (39,37 - 43,3 inch) consider a a breton or imperial guy it should go up to the navel. The sword should have a full scabbard. The sword should be rich decorated (it's for a rich warlord) with nordic type ornaments and rich materials like gold or silver but not too rich because it should also be a practical weapon often used in battle. If possible the blade should look like it's made out of steel and ebonyingots (more steel than ebony) So a little violet/dark optic. There are several pictures of real viking swords and early northern swords from 7th to 11th century. The earlier types are more decorated but shorter, the other (10-11th century) longer and mostly without decoration. A combination of longer sword and decoration would be the nearest to the sword i prefer. http://www.west-coast-shop.de/WebRoot/Store13/Shops/61326695/4744/85D7/B929/BEA0/2D25/C0A8/28BA/F412/IMGP0567u0568_0020_Kopie.jpg http://www.absurd-versand.de/media/images/av0116696306sk.jpg http://www.west-coast-shop.de/WebRoot/Store13/Shops/61326695/5283/D6DA/C47A/344D/76B2/C0A8/28BA/F1D1/Wiki_Messing_Ort.jpg http://www.outfit4events.de/runtime/cache/images/productFull/mo_5113-11.JPG http://waffen-hege.de/image/cache/data/katalog/0165192409a-900x900.jpg http://www.ritterladen.de/out/pictures/generated/product/1/2000_2000_80/bm0116696706-wikingerschwert-torshov-1.jpg http://mewabo.de/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/5/5/55020__2.jpg I know this looks a bit like a catalogorder. But this was not the intention. If someone will make this sword, it would be nice, if not no problem. It's only a opinion of a sword i would prefer to use for skyrim.
