  1. This sounds like a cool idea. I installed it so I can keep a look at each update from NMM. :)
  2. Start to learn Blender... ;) Then you will be able to do it yourself. A canon that shoots melons would be cool as well. :) I think we had similar guns in Morrowind or Oblivion if I recall right. I think the shutgun was a replacement for a Staff, so load a staff into Blender as a base, then make a shutgun and place it over the staff, deselect the staff and select the shutgun and save it with Niftools Nifexporter and you can use Skyed to put it in game from the staffsection. You should be able to use a fireball as ammo if you fiddle with it some.
  3. Very good ideas really as I feel the same and one example is that I am in Windhelm at the moment and how do I know for 100% that I really done all available quests there before I run away to the next area?? When CK comes out, maybe I will take a look at it really and see what we can do with some scripting at least. I forgot to mention earlier that I am working on a quest series that will take part in Shor's Stone. If you dont want any spoilers, then avoid going there as everything, well the whole questline, is explained there but the whole idea with a WIP is to get input and ideas... ;) I call it the Shor's Stone Expansion. Maybe it is a bit Hlalu or/and Redmoon inspired, maybe... ;)
  4. I am impressed that you where able to make it so easy to use. Very well done. Bookmarked. :) *looks around for an endorse button and found a kudo*
  5. Well don't feel like a traitor if you play the opposite side, as focus at how your current char feel instead. ;) When we run out of missions, then I hope a couple of good questmods has been released. Bethesda takes longer time then needed to release the CK tool but we need to be patient as playing their quests is only the beginning of what good questmodders usually are able to do with the game.
  6. I dont think this is a question of one or the other from the players point of view. I think we need 2 chars, one that supports the Empire and one that supports the Stormcloaks. My chars don't know about the world politics... ;) As a player I do have opinions, but what does my chars know? If I play an Imperial as one char, then what side would she choose? She is convinced that Tamriel should be one. If I play a Nord, what side would she choose? What does she know about what will happen with the world if she side with the Stormcloaks as she hates the Empire? Her hate is bigger then what is good for her. My chars has the answers... ;)
  7. The problem when you open CK for the first time is that you see everything at the same time and don't know where to start, as that is what I felt. But if you read the tutorials and take one step in a time, then you will learn to use and control it. Importing new meshes and sounds as unique objects are so easy, that that tutorial will require 5 lines or so.... ;) I hope that will be part of Bethesda's tutorials. Setting an unique texture to a mesh is not done in CK as you need Nifscope for that from Niftools but wait to install it until a later version as it is not finished yet. A texture is not an object that we can control in CK. A texture is set in the mesh itself.
  8. There are loads of different laptops out there and most of them are not made for high end 3D games. Most cheap laptops use an internal intel graphic card that steal 8Mb from the computers internal memory, compared to a real 3D graphic card that has 512Mb-1Gb memory of its own. So what type of laptop do you have? Did you buy a good laptop for gaming with a proper 3D graphic card inbuilt? CK will have a small 3D window that will not take as much resources from your computer as the game itself will. So maybe modding will be possible to do with the laptop but not playing the game. I even think modding will be possible to do on the cheap laptop with 8Mb mem but you also want to test your changes in game while modding so make sure that you have a proper laptop that are able to do the job. To get started with CK, I know to 90% that Bethesda will publish some good tutorials, as they did that for Oblivion 5 years ago already. Asking me if it is worth it, buying Skyrim is like asking a child if they like candy or not. ;) I hope that will answer one of your questions. Playing Skyrim on consol is not an option as there will come so many good mods when CK comes.
  9. There will and then we point at the good tutorials that hopefully will get published: * How to make your own house * How to make your own Dungeon I also suggest: * How to make a simple quest (I can write this myself if needed really) * How to add a new weapon and a new armor (if this is not part of the tutorials that Bethesda will make) If they have not read those tutorials, well should we then offer help? Pointing towards the tutorials if often the best help anyone can get, if they dont lack the smallest patience, as that is needed for any modding really. :) Its always some that have no patience at all and then I ask myself, is modding something that those should try at all? First time I did open CS for Morrowind, I got a shock, closed it down and didnt touched it for over 2 weeks but then I told myself, get over it, stop looking at the whole forest and start to look and focus at each tree instead. Damn, I felt frustrated a period, no doubt. We didnt had good step by step tutorials then as far as I know as that is what is needed. :)
  10. So do I. :) Employing New Miners When you have cleaned the mines and it is safe, well safer to enter them, the company needs new miners and it is up to you to find them and hire them. You will find them walking between the cities and hang outside Inns or inside, looking for work. The company are in need of at least 3 miners per section, so there will be 27 miners spread around Skyrim to hire. The miner as a merchant? Each miner will be able to offer you ingots and ore every 14th day or rather in a cycle/recycle that is set by you or mods as it will adept to the global reset timer and that mod should be put after this mod of course in load order, like Skyrim Wars as one good example. The player will be able to buy the ore to a better price from his miners than you are able to from a merchant and I don't know yet how to do this most properly. I think I need to use the topic system instead of the ordinary merchant interface and it a script is needed here to keep track of all resources that each miner has. The number of resources will be a bit random within a specific range, set in the script, with a lowest and max number of resources for each cycle. Ore veins I don't have a clue yet how many ore veins that would be most proper to have in each mining section. I could set a number really but I am more interested of what do you think is proper? The Miners barracks (miners house/houses), The riot When you have hired 18 miners, all living in a bloody tencamp, they are starting to get pissed over the living conditions, living in a tentcamp like some bloody dunmers around the red mountain in Morrowind. How do we build a house for 27 miners? Well the owners of the mining company are not interested in investing in the miners so it is up to you and the miners foreman to do this by your own and risk a conflict with the mining company. I don't plan to build an entire village so I suspect that an Inn or 2, would solve the problem maybe. You will be sent around Skyrim to gather or buy resources for the house and it will not be a walk in the park as you will get into problems on your way. I got a suggestion that the resource caravan should be attack by bandits and lets see what other fun things we could do here as it would be boring if we only go to a store, buying some wood and go back to camp again with it as then it would be funnier to go out and buy 1 litre milk for your family... ;) More suggestions are of course always welcome about what will happen during this questline? I hope that I as a modder will be able to use the carriage that we see in the start of the game when we get transported to Helden by the Imperials. I also hope that I can do something useful with the lumbermachines as well. Option here are that we as players don't give a damn if the miners lives in a tent or have a bedroll at all and that you will not help them. They will get pissed at a point and attack you and the foreman at the site and you will have a massacre. This will not be good at all for the company and lets see how we can develop this line of the quest. :) The Company Owners (and their Villa) When the building of the miners houses have started, you will also be contacted by the owners of the Mining Company as they want you to get to their house and explain yourself. This is now the opportunity will come for you to take over the company completely and also their house. I have one idea here and it is to let them survive and they will be offered to stay as your servants or companions. I think I will put this house at the top of the mountain where the mine is or somewhere around there, where they can look down at Shor's Stone and keep an eye at it. More ideas? Nope. This is it so far. Writing this mod as it is now, will take a lot of time I fear. But I am open for suggestions of course about how to make it better. I don't know if I should publish the dialogue files here or not as I have help from a friend at the smaller forum with the language, dialogs and to make the flow as good as possible. But if you want me to publish them here, I will but they will also spoil everything and so does everything I have written so far as well. ;)
  11. DDS is the texture format used for TES since Morrowind as far as I know or even from Arena as well maybe? Well you must make your texture in size of 2x2, 4x4, 8x8 and so on up to 4096 or even double size as well. I recomendate 1024x1024 for an armor texture and some say double it. You dont need it to be quadra as 512x256 works good as well as one example A dds will have several layers with smaller versions of your main texture, under it to avoid lag Download and peek in the retexture mods that are out there for armors and then you will see much better how to do them. Get a DDS export/import for gimp or Photoshop. You will find one at NVDIAs homepage. I also use dxtBMP Also search for texture tutorials for Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim. :)
  12. [WIP] Shor's Stone Expansion - A Series of nested Quests Hello. My nickname is Pekka and I have been modding since Morrowind, and later Oblivion and it is the first time that I do a WIP here as I usually do my WIPs in a smaller forum, where I been hanging out since I got started with modding. I started to play TES when Daggerfall came out, which took me almost 2 years to play so I am an Oldie, well an very old TES fan. (Old as well...) Well I have been making many different mods, both quests, dungeons, houses, armor, shoes, boots, 3D, textures, Voiceacting, toilets, Irons and Ironboards and I suspect that I am most known for my shields: Pekkas Shields for Aleannes Nice Armor http://hem.bredband.net/sjostrand/Morrowind/Screenshots_of_all_Shields/shield3.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l310/Pekka_01/Shields/AleShields04.jpg The Old mine First mod that I started to create for Morrowind, took so long time to make, that it also became the last mod that I released for Morrowind and I did that 1-2 months before Oblivion came out, so I did put it aside many times and made other modding instead as breaks where well needed. That project where called Caldera Ancient Mine, which took me 2 years to make and I want to do it again really for Skyrim. Screenshots from Caldera Ancient Mine http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4037/1140980297_fullres.jpg http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/4037/1140980256_fullres.jpg Another dungeon I made is: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=6846 Pek The Halls of the Phoenix Order for Oblivion http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/6846-1-1193428501.jpg http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/6846-3-1193428501.jpg Enough about the past... ;) Shor's Stone Expansion So what is the meaning for this project now when my char is rich, having all ore she wants and is completely independent? (That went fast in Skyrim for sure...) Well I cant get this idea out of my head really. I must do it and it is already initiated at the small forum that I mentioned earlier 15th of December 2011. Expanding the mine with 9-10 bigger submines, 1 for each ore type Making a series of quests for it. I have already written 3 different quests for it. (I write quests with help of a free flowcontrol program called yED) Intrigues New monsters New spells that will allow us to summon the new monsters later on which will be a series of different alteration spells and I will explain later why they will be part of the Alteration school really. Making a home for the miners (choice is a riot started by the miners) Making a fancy home for the player. Right now the owners of the Mining Company is living in that house and maybe they will continue to do so? Its you that will decide their fate. I always liked crafting and mining in all those MMORPG that I played and loved when crafting mods came out for Morrowind but there was a lack of resources in Morrowind so therefor I made the mine in the first place. Resources is really not a problem in the long run in Skyrim I noticed, but I want to make this project anyway as then you have a big mining center where you will get both resources, nice and fun questseries and a place that can serve as a base for you (and me). The mining company has a problem and it is that someone or something has made the ore veins to come alive. Alive? Yes alive and it is impossible for the miners to produce any form of income nor resources for them. They are in need in a brave adventurer like you to get things straighten up. You need to first clean the original section from the spiders and finish that quest You will later start in the lowest Iron section and end with the most dangerous section which is glass and ebony You will investigate in how the ore veins came alive in the first place You will need to kill all golems You will later need to find the old miners and convince them to get back to the company You will try to avoid a riot by building them a house or let the riot to start It's up to you to become a friend with the one that caused the mess in the first place and learn from him about raising golems or just kill him and learn it from his notes (I don't know yet if that knowledge will die with him or not really. The Mines: I don't need to decorate the mines in the heavy way that I did for Morrowind as Bethesda learned how to make nice and realistic cave meshes and textures for Oblivion already but I will not let the caves be empty as boring tubes anyway. You will find all base things that every mine has + mushrooms, waterfalls, barrels and maybe even chests. (Don't ask me how chests always ends up in dungeons as I don't have a single clue). Books are needed as well, specially at least one new book that will increase your blacksmithing 1 skillpoint. I also think at least one quest will increase that skill 1 point. You will get to the expanded mine-sections from 3 doors that will be placed here: http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l310/Pekka_01/Skyrim/TheMine01.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l310/Pekka_01/Skyrim/TheMine02.jpg The golems? Well I am not a body nor monster modder as I am better in making misc items and houses. I plan to take the Frost and Lightning Atronachs and get rid of their particles and give them proper golem textures. I also had an idea about reusing the Dvemer robots and retexture them in proper ingot textures but the few members that follows my WIP in that smaller forum does not like that idea, so I let you think about it and we see where it ends up. There will be 18 different golems as far as I know right now. 2 for each ore vein type available in game. Summoning Golems? Alteration? If something is summoned from something, it is a form of alteration, isn't it not? If you alterate an ingot or an ore to something else, then it is an alteration and not conjuring, well that is at least what I think and I base that on that it takes much longer time to gain in alteration as it does in conjuring. To be able to conjure one of the 18 different golems, you need to have 1 ingot or 1 ore to alterate and ingots and ores will not be a problem for you from now on anyway so it is up top you how you will use your resources really. Lets stop here for a while and take a break Caldera Ancient mine took 2 years to make and I hope this project will take lesser time to make but I never know if I get involved in other project meanwhile or not. It has to take the time it takes. I have more to write about the questseries and the mining village expansion as well but I do that another day as otherwise you will get to tired about all my rambling and babbling in this initiating message. Its all up to the response I get here if I stay here and WIP or focus at the smaller forum instead (I will be there anyway)... ;) Some of my old Morrowind and Oblivion mods are found here: http://tes.nexusmods.com/modules/members/index.php?id=55288 Pekkas Mods - TesNexus (Oblivion) http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=User.EntriesListing&id=22719 Pekkas Mods - Planet Elder Scrolls (Morrowind mainly) Some are gone forever as the old Morrowind sites seems to have vanished - Well doesn't matter any longer anyway... ;)
  13. I had some problems then as well, gained to many none combat skills but then I focused at marksman and used a companion + Conjuring and it all went easier. I always play one char only, so I master everything with it and now I am lvl 70. Just do quests and enjoy the game, it is best so. :)
  14. I don't think Bethesda will change the landscape at all really. They didn't do this for Morrowind nor Oblivion and will not for Skyrim. I strongly suggest that you take a look at Skyrim Wars III ... Sorry I meant Skyrim Wars IV http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6176 There you will have many different choices of how much violence that you want while you are out adventuring.
  15. I think it is cool if the dragon don't land and attack you on sight, which makes it a bit more realistic. When I see one, I set off as fast as I can in that direction and try to get its attention but sometimes it fails completely. At one point the dragon disappeared and at one points, some hostile NPC's killed it before I got close enough as I had to start fighting them instead. I love this with Skyrim, as fights, specially with dragons, are not always the same, even if some tidiness starts to show up. As I use Skyrim Wars III, there is a chance that I will end up in other fights instead of the dragon. :)
