  4. Well, at least Bethesda didn't just spring this on people..... it's not like they didn't give plenty of notice that this change was coming. ;)
  5. I've always used DXT1 for single layer diffuse textures, and DXT5 for dual layer diffuse textures and normal maps. I don't use uncompressed textures in my mods, so that shouldn't be an issue. I do, however, occasionally use DXT1A with the 1-bit alpha layer to reduce file size. Do you know if that compression would cause a problem for SSE?
  6. I don't have any landscape retexture mods, so that shouldn't be an issue (lacking spectral layers). My understanding was that Skyrim SE was DirectX11, therefore people would experience occasional crashes with textures that weren't formatted for DirectX11. It would be good to now precisely what texture compression that Bethesda used for SSE textures. They really should've let mod authors know these things when they're promoting mods themselves.
  7. I've been getting a lot of requests to port my Skyrim mods to SSE, but I'm unsure of which of the new compression formats are used. Many people say my original textures have worked fine for them in SSE, but I hear of certain people having an issue. It seems that normal maps are more likely to have a problem than diffuse textures. My question is what compression is Bethesda using for they normal maps in SSE? They look identical to the originals, both in appearance and file size, so I was unsure what compression format they used. It's not the new BC5 compression, because that uses on the red and green channels, and lacks a spectral layer. It's the only compression I see listed explicitly as being for normal maps. Would the BC3 compression work for normal maps as well as diffuse textures? Obviously, I'm a bit unsure about these new formats. Any help would be appreciated. ;)
  8. The whole site is going downhill...... I'm not even getting the background image loading now. WTF is going on around here? Seriously, why is there no post in the news section addressing this problem. How long does something have to go on before we get some feedback?
  9. In response to post #41281885. We should not, in any shape or form, support a feature that will lead to less informed mod users. I too, am befuddled by this new "feature" to bypass the description pages that hold vital information for would be downloaders. It's already bad enough with the amount of people who simply neglect reading the descriptions and go straight to posting questions..... this is not behavior we want to encourage. The other changes I can live with, but this is something that needs to be nipped in the bud.
  10. I understand that mod authors don't want their stuff stolen.... believe me, it's happened to me plenty with outside entities. Nexus can't protect us any better than Bethesda quite frankly. If people think their work is safe here, then they're fooling themselves. Yes, Bethesda.net needs to do a better job of policing their available mods, but this is all new for them, and they will learn.
  11. Hello all, Anyone else see this rumor from Shinobi602 about a remaster of Skyrim for the current gen consoles? There was mention that it would include the ability to add mods, as Fallout 4 has just done. It may seem unnecessary to PC gamers, but I can see how it would appeal to Bethesda as a way to extend the lifespan of their major titles between new launches. I'm sure that if I only had the PS3 version of Skyrim, that I wouldn't still have interest in the game. There are many PC gamers still playing Skyrim, but I wonder how manny console gamers still play the game.... not many, I suspect. The console people would never get all the graphical mods that PC gamers have, but their are so many great gameplay changing mods, and smaller additions that they could use. Bethesda would just need a way for mod authors to port their stuff for the new remaster. Any way, I kinda hope this particular rumor is true, because the more people get to experience the kind of fun that a modded Skyrim experience can be, the better.   12. While I don't particularly care about the actual number of endorsements a mod receives, the ratio of endorsements to downloads is useful for telling me how people received a particular mod. Therefore, having an accurate count of the unique downloads is useful. I'm glad that you found a way to correct that calculation.
