  1. And.... more Skyrim wizardry. After just going ahead and playing some other games, then turning off my PC while I headed out for dinner, I get back and now my main menu options are back. Guess can call this one solved for the second part of it's own random accord. -__________-"
  2. Ok an update, after using the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" option in Steam to try to see if my install got corrupted for some reason. After redownloading 6 files, looks like 3 were just the Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, and Dragonborn.esm since I had to reclean these files with TESVEdit, it still wasn't working. I actually managed to find out how to fix the issue now after enough Google-fu by going into the data/SKSE/plugins folder and deleting the StorageUtil.save. It stopped working one last time before going through now. And now... I'm baffled with a new problem though I can get into the game now. For some reason now once I get into the main menu, no menu options pop up now. The only thing at the screen is the ENB information w/ graphics adaptor at the top left along with the dragonborn crest. No menu options, no smoke, no music. I guess this is what they mean with Skyrim wizardry.... just completely out of the blue. I might end up giving up and doing a clean reinstall if I can't figure out this one... Edit: I recently switched from BOSS to LOOT for sorting of load orders about 2 weeks ago. I just tried going back to letting BOSS sort my game and still same result as letting LOOT sort my game.
  3. Hey everyone, has anyone had an issue where SKSE just decides to stop working randomly for some reason. It happened to me just last night where I was playing just fine with it, and next thing everytime I try to launch through SKSE I just get the windows error saying "Skyrim has stopped working" while the game is trying to load. Just decided to give it a break, figure that maybe a restart and it would work today, but still same thing. On the flip side, running the game through Steam works just fine, but of course I've got too many SKSE reliant mods I can't live without while playing like SkyUI. I even tried reverting from SKSE v 1.07.00 back to 1.06.16 to see if it would work then, but still no cigar. Just switched back to the alpha 1.07.00 and just the same problem. I did recently install one mod, a unique power attack with a custom animation on it, but I figure that couldn't have been it since I did get to play for several hours, even restarting the game with it on with the game running. I did try uninstalling it too to see if it would fix SKSE but to no avail. I think I remember having this issue before, but it was because of a Steam update. I saw people's word to disable the beta version participation which I already have off it seems (maybe from the last time this happened). If this is so I imagine then a lot of other people would be having the same issue. Anyone else, or have any suggestions on how to fix? Would be much appreciated.
  4. Just a few recommendations based on some mods I use that might suit your taste that I don't see listed below. -Climates of Tamriel : There is a winter edition available if you want to go full blown out lore and make all of Skyrim a snowy wonderland -SkyUI : Inventory, menu, HUD, and favorites overhaul, a big must for most people -Immersive HUD/ iHUD: Toggle HUD on/off + quick fade features -Less Intrusive HUD II: Fully customize size, positioning, rotation of each individual HUD element -Deadly Combat: or other combat overhauls to make melee combat more than just beating enemies over the head with your sword -Dramatic Clouds (also Real Clouds is out, but personally I had visual issues with it regarding white outlines on trees and distant objects) -ACE Combat Skills: Most balanced perk overhaul I've seen so far that doesn't break the game by any means and even comes with a BYOG (balance your own game) feature to let you customize numbers. Completely modular as well for each different skill tree. Creates noticible differences and perks to using different types of bows, weapons, and armors. -Inconsequential NPCs : Addition of more NPCs in towns -Footprints : Self explanatory -Immersive Beds : Adds sleep animation to the player on using beds -Proper Aiming : Fixes aiming in 3rd person -Legionettes : Always bothered me that the Stormcloaks had women soldiers, while the Imperial legion was a sausagefest -Enhanced Enemy AI: Self explanatory -Run For Your Lives: NPCs actually flee indoors at the sight of a dragon attack instead of jumping in and trying to stab the dragons to death with their iron daggers As far as arrows and how they behave with gravity, that's something that's actually edited through an .ini file. If you look at the Proper Aiming mod, it covers the changes to make recommended based on that mod, which I find works pretty well already. Might also want to look into a darker more moody looking ENB that suits your taste if you're up for it. I'd look for one that is performance friendly though, especially if you're looking to install some texture packs and so on.
  5. Did you try the full performance preset with no DoF or SSAO effects that came with Project ENB? That's what I'm using and it helps me stay at a constant 40+ fps everywhere, 50-60 fps indoors. Yea I've had a hard time looking for something that works well with CoT but doesn't need anything else, runs on the latest ENB binaries for the memory patch, isn't too taxing on the system, and fits my taste for visuals. Unfortunately it seems like I'm still with Project ENB until something comes out or this gets updated :/ There is also the Realvision ENB that has a performance preset that's supposed to be pretty good. I haven't gotten around to trying yet, since it looks like it requires RLO or ELFX, but I've been meaning to if I ever feel like going and downloading them since I don't care for realistic lighting effects all that much.
  6. Don't worry, I was like that too, Skyrim is my first of the series. As for visuals, as stated above, the texture pack combiner + an ENB mod (if it suits your taste) is just about all you need for visual improvement for the most part. For combat, personally I'm using Deadly Combat linked here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5485//? By default, this does exactly what you want by making weapons do more damage on both sides, along with making armor less effective which you can also adjust the values to your liking. It also changes combat to add lot of stagger and interrupt effects on getting hit and hitting, along with making blocking very critical to stay alive. For quests and world, the latest large quest/land mod Falskaar is essentially a free DLC with how large and expansive this new land is. This should keep you occupied for another 20-40 hours worth: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/37994//?
  7. There's also Immersive Patrols, which I use and works great. It's not really big for the amount of encounters that it adds, but at least it's some extra, though I did run into a huge war going on between the Imperials and Stormcloaks in the valley to the south of the Throat of the World one time. It was about as large as one from the Warzones mod before I uninstalled it for all of the save bloat it was creating. This one is script free too. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12977//?
  8. For those that may not know, but there are mods out there that allow you to reset your perks, not to mention also in the Dragonborn DLC, after reaching a certain point in the main quest line in Solstheim, you can reset your perks as well. This is a mod that I've used for a while that works just fine, for vanilla perks at least. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801//? I do agree though, I never personally cared for the legendary system. It reminded me too much of.... Call of Duty prestiges. I just wanted to be able to keep leveling them and my own level so I used the skill uncapper below. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1175/? The best thing I could recommend if you want to be able to beef up stronger after hitting 100 in a skill is to use the skill uncapper, and use the extra perk points you get leveling on some kind of a perk overhaul with a lot more perks. I wanted to keep things semi-balanced though, so I'm using ACE Combat Skills perk overhaul below with the balance your own game settings. This using a stronger perk system from some mod along with the uncapper would probably be the closest you could get to what you want until something like that comes out. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10037/?
  9. Certain textures from one mod can be overwritten by other textures of a new mod being installed, so if you get that prompt when you installed the later mods, then yes it's theoretically making the first mod pointless, granted that the second mod is overwriting all of the first mod's files. This usually makes it hard to even know what mod would be the better one to choose for specific textures, especially since you can only guess based on the file name of the texture being overwritten. Personally, to get around that, I'm using this mod below that is compatible with a lot of different texture packs. This mod picks and chooses textures from each mod once you do all of the legwork of downloading each mod and transferring files, and then creates one giant folder containing all of the textures that you can then drop into your data folder either manually, or with NMM. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/20801//?
  10. Yea, personally when I ran my previous mage character, I was only running Apocalypse and it was plenty sufficient given the large variety of spells, along with some of the new master spells being quite powerful already as is. I ran apocalypse alone, along with using a few accessories only from the Art of Magicka mod.
  11. Definitely sounded like a good idea but.... to no avail. My whole texture turned.... holographic as the only way I can think to describe it without really any texture. I'm assuming it has to do something with the fact that I'm using CBBE for all of the normal races and seveNbase only for the Temptress. Example picture below, the whole backside where there is no light is just black. Depending on the angle viewed from, the body shines like on the stomach. Anyone have any other ideas? http://i43.tinypic.com/2hn9z5f.jpg
  12. Hi everyone. Could anyone help me out with fixing a neck seam issue I can't seem to resolve, despite trying a few different suggested options. I think the main thing that's making this hard to fix is the fact that I'm using the milkdrinker texture w/ the seveNbase body on the custom Temptress race. I tried looking at the UNP texture blender, but it doesn't support custom races. I am using the afternoon lighting neck seam fix provided with the Temptress mod too. I tried raplacing the _s files from the SG Female Textures Renewal mod with this one too as suggested in the front page of the Barbarian/Milkdrinker texture mod, but to the exact same effect. An example picture is attached in the link below. I really hope it won't be nonresolvable as just a set of mods that don't work too well with each other. Much appreciated to anyone that can help! http://i44.tinypic.com/1zd963m.jpg
  13. If you don't want nudity, the CBBE body model actually has modular options, and one of them in there is a "never nude" option that puts underwear (choice of 2 styles) on all female characters when they're "naked". I don't know if UNP has the same type of options though since I never tried it.
  14. Well then.... like 5 hours since noon that I last looked and was looking through this recommendations. Now v0.195 binary pops up and a compatible K ENB with it on the front page, I think I might have found my answer haha. Thanks to all though. Now to just hope it works fine.
  15. Well I think most ENB users are aware of Boris's new performance and memory boost patch for ENB located here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/38649//? It seems like it's generally been good reviews, and would like to try my hands on it myself, but I still haven't just because of the reason that I can't seem to find any ENBs out there that I like that will run on the new v0.193 binary that's required. Also, trying to find one that works with my mod setup, since I also run Climates of Tamriel, but not Realistic Lighting Overhaul. I've been using Project ENB (fantasy preset) for the longest while now, and I tried just swapping the binaries, but of course it doesn't play well at all and looses almost all of the color and quality that I liked about the ENB. For the sake of trying to get a more stable game since I suffer from CTD and infinite loading screen problems, I'm looking to switch to a new ENB for now, until that one gets updated to the new binary which doesn't sound like it would be anytime soon. Does anyone have any ENBs they know of that works on the new v0.193 binary and plays well with CoT? If I knew where to even begin, I think I would just look at trying to tweak instead since it doesn't seem like there's much out there at the moment... at least that suits my taste.
