  1. Ok, I've made my first mod! it's official. Here is the file so everyone can download it. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5300 Thanks for the suggestions and motivation everyone!
  2. Ok, I've made my first mod! it's official. Here is the file so everyone can download it. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5300 Thanks for the suggestions and motivation everyone! EDIT: oops sorry, wrong thread, still i'll leave it up just in case
  3. Maybe just use the console commands: from http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Console_Commands_(Skyrim) TCAI Toggle Combat Artificial Intelligence (removes NPC's ablility to fight, but can still interact, move, etc. TGM Toggle God Mode, which grants invincibility, also removing the overencumbering effect (you can hold unlimited items), removes shout cooldown, grants limitless magicka, stamina, and arrows
  4. Ok, it's pretty much working in game, had a few tricky bits. I've just got to update it for all races and genders. Your character's hair will show up but might clip through it slightly, although I've made it bigger to accommodate that. Also got to figure out how to make it show up in the inventory and ground properly. Also I reduced the map resolution to 1k. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32538545/ScreenShot5.jpg
  5. Perfect, thanks a lot! Wouldn't have found that out for ages!
  6. Hi, I've been making a mod for a Witch hunter's hat on a request from a forum post, and I've learnt a lot using the resources available. However, there is one niggling thing on the final thing in game. Here's a screenshot or two:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32538545/ScreenShot2.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32538545/ScreenShot4.jpg You see the black area (about 3 polygons) on the mesh? That shouldn't be there.. I've tried importing the nif into 3ds max, where I've been doing the work, and it doesn't happen in the render. I've checked the normal map, the polygon smoothing information and the uvs, but it doesn't seem to be any of them. I'm stumped... anyone else got any ideas? Edit: it also doesn't respond to lighting changes, so I doubt it's the shadows in game.
  7. Ok, been messing around with nifskope and managed to get the hat on the character albeit in the wrong place and size: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32538545/ScreenShot3.jpg I then went into the inventory and tried to select the hat then the game crashed - a long way to go yet!
  8. Ok I've been trying for a few hours but it seems my Nifscope just won't play along. If you know how to use it, I can upload the obj mesh and dds textures so you can make a nif, or i can try again later, hopefully with better tools. Glad you guys like it!
  9. Thanks! Learnt a lot and it was really fun! Time well spent (outside of skyrim)!
  10. Here's a render of the model from 3ds max - should look like this in game, if you keep the current resolution. I've got higher and lower res versions if anyone's worried! Anyone fancy using TESSnip to put this in game, or I can just wait until the CK is out to do it myself? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32538545/witchhunterhat.jpg Suggestions/ critique are welcome as well.
  11. I've spent a few hours just trying to get the simple model into the game - haven't got round to texturing it yet - but for some reason, none of the methods and tutorials I've tried for modding have worked. I may have to wait until the proper construction kit is out, unless someone better than me at tessnip is willing to get it into the game. Sorry about that - anyone else feel free to take up this mod as well!
  12. Yeah, I too am stuck at the adding nif model path for armor - trying to add a new helmet. There are 4 MODL variables, each with random looking string and hex subrecord data. Is there a way of converting a file path into that type of data? Surely some people can do it, but I can't find the info anywhere. Thanks
  13. Sounds like a good idea! I'd like to make this, as a first mod. I've got experience modelling and texturing, but never modded anything - now to go and look at some tutorials! Couldn't you just use a helmet mesh as reference for the head?
