  1. I've never experienced that with havok meshes before. Have you tried just changing the type to mesh? Or making a convex hull for the cylinder shape instead of modeling a cylinder? I haven't investigated, but there's a chance that "bhkCylinderShape" isn't actually a think that nifskope or F04 recognizes, but I know that it does recognize custom meshes or convex hulls.
  2. Even as an experienced 3d Modeler, the steps needed after a model is made to get it working in the game are many, unintuitive, and not very well documented. I used to make mods for TES4 and FONV, and I'm just trying to figure out how to do the same thing for FO4. So far, even trying to find and install all the proper software is a huge effort.
  3. Here is the latest update for my werebear mesh. I just threw on some quick and dirty fur and colors to see if it's starting to feel right. I actually am pretty happy so far with its progress. Thanks everyone for the critiques. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7044/6853960891_d00e3f91fc_b.jpg
  4. Yeah... that's probably my fault. I decided to just try and model a werebear on my own time and stuff, then I stumbled across this mod thread and let it out that I was working on one. Anyway, I apologize for whatever troubles or bunny trails the werebear has brought to this thread. I did some fiddling around with the face and body, and here's what I've come up with so far. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7149/6848519249_ae5853e3f7_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/6848519347_afd36e523e_b.jpg Also, I JUST saw the Bethesda-made werebear and it looks awesome. I may start working to get it to reflect the Beth-werebear a little more.
  5. Argan, I can try to implement some of the visual changes, but please keep in mind the constraints of the model: 1. The proportions MUST stay basically the same. I can't extend the arms, shorten legs, or anything like that. It has to work off an existing skeleton, so all major joints have to line up with those of the werewolf skeleton. 2. The werebear has to have a different "initial read" than that of the werewolf. That means that I have to find some way of making the werebear look significantly different from the werewolf at a distance, while still maintaining the proportions almost exactly the same. So, slimming the belly, making its claws back to fingers, and sharpening the ears will give us just (visually) another werewolf. 3. Also, any preview images of the model will show it in its most neutral position. That means that it's posture, hands, arms, and mouth will be at the places where its skeleton lays. All the gesture and emotion and stuff will come with the animations. I'll work at beefing up the werebear's musculature and working the face to look much more savage. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback. The rest of the week is pretty busy for me, so I should be able to post some different iterations of the face and body by sometime next week.
  6. ElderInfinity: I think I'm going to try and do the textures for the werebear. I actually wasn't aware that I was supposed to pass the mesh to be textured by others. I also have some basic questions about the werebear's design: 1. Do we want to see the werebear completely covered in fur like a bear, or have it partially covered in fur like the vanilla werewolf? I noticed that earlier in the thread, you came out with a retex of the werewolf where the body was almost completely furry, and I'm just wondering if that was part of your vision for were-creatures. 2. Are there any other minor changes that you'd like to see in the current werebear (barring the obvious problems with the un-bear-like legs)?
  7. Thanks for the comments everyone. To all the people that have made comments on the legs... Unfortunately, they're kinda stuck that way. Trust me, I've been looking at a LOT of bear anatomy, and the legs bug me as well, but because I'm making the werebear to fit the werewolf's skeleton, the legs and feet have to reflect the existing skeleton. If anyone knows someone who can edit skeletons and change animations, feel free to make a werebear skeleton and I can make a mesh that reflects the natural bear anatomy better. I've kept the face neutral up to this point because the werewolf's face was also quite neutral, so I assumed that some expressions would come when everything gets skinned up to the skeleton. But I'll go and push some vertices around to reflect a more savage expression. Also keep in mind that with the addition of the fur planes, the werebear will definitely take on a more primal and savage appearance.
  8. Hi everyone. I've been following the mod thread for a while now, but I finally mustered up the courage to introduce myself. My name is NateNeurotic and I'm a 3d modeler. I've been making creature models since Oblivion, and I actually started a little project making a werebear for Skyrim. The model is actually right before it's texturing stage. You can see some screenshots here: Wireframe of the werebear mesh http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7169/6834476827_2a0d709b2d_b.jpg WIP detail sculpt of the werebear mesh http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7169/6834465867_9a942e98d5_b.jpg Keep in mind that the werebear's body will also be covered with fur planes, so it's silhouette will bulk up and look much more furry. The model is built around the werewolf skeleton, and it matches up pretty nicely. That means that it should be able to use most (if not all) of the werewolf's existing animations. Anyway, hope progress is going ok for the rest of you guys.
  9. The author of that specific wolf model is Spinat on the Bethesda Oblivion Forums. It's part of a larger mod called Terror of the Deepwoods. Since it's a resource for a WIP mod, you may not get to use that specific model because a lot of times the authors of large mods want to keep their resources unique until the mod is released. Anyway, you should probably contact both http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=521297 and The Filthy Spaniard to see if you can use it for your polymorph spell or whatever.
  10. You could try The Complete Ranger or Shadow Ranger mods. They offer a few animal companions, but also come with other things such as ranger gear, abilities, etc.
