  1. Yea i knew about xnormal but does that really give cleaner normal maps? Ndo? ill check that up, thanks for the tips. : ) Yeah Xnormal is probably a marginally better plugin than the nvidia one. However it has a couple other useful features for texture artists.. Xnormal is a very slight improvement, way more options. NDOs site seems to be down, or not up yet. No matter what I base these maps on RBG or anything, they just come out too detailed in spots, and too flat in the others.
  2. Im noticing that now too. There's no happy medium with it. My work around was to create it, cut out my changes and blend it into the original map. Never tried crazybump though, will look into that as well.
  3. Great will do. It might be included in the save GUI for the DDS using the nvidia plugin for CS5, but haven't messed around with it too much. Appreciate the reply. EDIT: It does seem to have an option for normal map, messing with it now. Thanks again.
  4. Anyone have a good way of reproducing the _n version of the textures in photoshop? I can't seem to figure out how they made those imprints using those specific colors. I assume it was a script, but it seems essential to figure out in order to do any real work on changing textures... except for just reskinning.
