Startup Error in Vortex

I'm having an issue with starting Vortex, it gives an error that says "Startup failed, Vortex seems to be running already. If you can't see it, please check the task manager."

 

I don't know what that really means, I've obviously already checked the task manager and there are no instances of Vortex running, so I don't think that's the issue. I think it might be an issue with Vortex being used by multiple people on the same PC. For context, I have never used Vortex and have no mods installed. Another user already has mods installed on their profile through Vortex which I would like to use, and they have their multi-user settings set to "Shared," but I still can't open Vortex.

When I delete my profile's Vortex folder under AppData\Roaming\Vortex, I can open the application without errors. It's only when I set the multi-user setting to "Shared" that I get the error. What am I doing wrong here?

Shared means everybody is sharing the same Vortex

You're trying to use Vortex in "Per-User" mode, when it's in "Shared" mode, and by making a profile, you're really just using your friends profile
YOu need to switch to "Per User", so your login credentials etc are different than your friends
