HGEC Upper Half Separated From Lower Half.

Recommended Posts

Hello!

This is my first post to this forum, so if I did something wrong, please tell me.

I have a problem with HGEC.

For some reason, the lower half of the body separates itself from the upper half, leaving a gap in the middle.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Kristy.

It depends.

In Oblivion your body comes within your clothes. When you equip an item, the bodyparts coming with it will 'replace' your's while worn. That's why with all body replacers there's also always so-called Stock Clothing and Armor Replacers made for them. Else you will simply still have a Vanilla body while wearing any Vanilla clothing or armor items... plus some inevitable texture issues, of course. (Skin textures are race-bound, while body meshes are bound to the equipment worn, and meshes and textures have to fit in layout.)

You could give us some screenshots displaying the issue, or you could at least tell us if you're wearing any clothing or armor items, or if this issue also happens while being completely nude. Also, if you're using any more-advanced scripting mods to 'exchange' bodies dynamically, this goes on the same line as wearing another body from inside an item, and would also help mentioning.

When I take my clothing/armour off, it just separates the body.

I do use a custom race, though.

Could that be a problem?

How do I take in-game screenshots anyway?

It doesn't seem to work for me properly.

No, individual races cannot control this. There is only 1 single body for all of them.

So, the gap through your waist is there even while 'both' upper and lower body are nude? That'd mean the body mesh files weren't aligning properly to begin with. Did you install HGEC correctly? You didn't miss some of the files or mixed upper and lower half from different body types by chance?

I could understand there being gaps between the bodyparts inside clothing and the nude bodyparts, but there even being gaps between the nude bodyparts themselves means the body mod itself wasn't installed correctly and the bodypart meshes don't align right now.

As for screenshots, there's an option inside your "oblivion.ini" in your user files folders, "bEnableScreenshot". If this is set to "1", and there's no other interruption, you should be able to press 'print' while ingame and the screenshot should be saved into your oblivion folder, where the launcher and the .exe reside.

If this fails, you could also use 3rd party screen capture tools like Fraps or similar.

edit: On the other hand, just remembered, if it's one of the more complex custom races, like mine, with scripted bodypart control of sorts, then when you unequip the item your bodypart gets swapped with a custom one. This isn't necessarily the one from the body mod, and depending on the combination between body mod and race mod this could cause this issue.

What custom race is it we're talking of, and did you try this with a Vanilla race in a new game already? Just to make sure it is or isn't the body mod's installation itself.
