I think it's a bit unrealistic that you can constantly refill all your ammo at camps. Ammo would not be that easy to come by 2 years after the world ended. I find the game is actually more challenging and enjoyable if I restrict myself from buying ammo at camps.

It would be cool if there was a mod that disabled refilling ammo at camps. (I'm aware this would make storing ammo on bike mostly non functional).

Another option would be to drastically increase cost of ammo.

When ammo is unlimited the game isn't as tense. Try playing where you aren't allowed to purchase ammo. Suddenly melee is much more inviting and you'll be super careful with your ammo. It also means you'll need to rely on more than just pumping ammo into hordes.

Maybe a middle-ground mod where only pistol ammo is able to be purchased could be good too.

Would love to see this mod become a thing. For me, being able to so easily refill ammo at camps, Nero check points, and enemy ambush camps is just too easy and you find yourself never worrying about ammo after a few hours in game.
