HELP - Stars and sky stuttering!

Problem: Stars not twinkling smoothly, sky moving in small fast jerky steps which is causing the stars to also move in small quick jerks, thereby making their shining/twinkling seem like it's stuttering. Basically the sky is not moving smoothly but in small jerks.

 

UPDATE - On one side of the sky the stars are twinkling perfectly, fading in and out beautifully, but in the opposite side of the sky they are just blinking on and off very jarringly and noticably.

 

Background info: Just did a clean install of skyrim, it ran really smoothly, over 60fps. Installed a lot of texture mods, no lighting mods except Climates of Tamriel with level 8 dark nights. No other gameplay mods other than UI mods like skyui and immersive hud etc. After all this game is still running at 25+fps with minimal stutter only after loading and turning fast.

 

I use SKSE and FXAA injector without any problems and have already tried switching the FXAA injector on/off to no avail.

 

I have not added any sky or stars, galaxy enhancing mods and even after disabling COT, waiting 31 days, the problem persists. All other animations, everything else is fine. Just the stars look jarring.

Even with the Enhanced Night mod the problem persists.

um it's already at 7, or do you want me reduce it? Anyway, the ugrids at 7 is causing only minimal performance loss and is not the cause of stuttering or anything. My game is super smooth at night anyway.

After reading your original post and your reply, I am a little confused. Do you have a problem or not. You originally stated you are having a problem with the stars and sky. I would assume this occures at night, correct? Your reply than states that the game is "super smooth at night anyway." So, again I ask, do you have a problem or not?

Thanks for the reply. What I meant was that i am able to run the game at 40+fps at night. And in my original post i said very clearly that everything else is fine, all animations, smoke etc working correctly while only the sky is moving in small, almost non-noticable jerks.

 

So in simple terms >> Sky not moving smoothly like clouds and smoke and other things. All else is fine.

And because sky is not moving correctly, the stars are not twinkling smoothly.

 

This has never happened to my game over the last one and half years since I started playing skyrim. And this problem is on a clean install i did 3 days ago!

I'm still able to run a lot of the latest games at almost max on my 1280X1024 screen, my dear sir. I'm happy with my pig. :)

Change this:

Then in game open console and type: set timevalue to 1

 

Your in game time will go real-time if you set thid (shadows, lights, sun, etc)

 

This makes the sky move fluent instead of jerky (also in daytime)

 

 

And your uGrid values are not good. Even if you choose to play on 7 (which will give you a billion problems) your uExterior Cell Buffer is incorrect, on uGridsToLoad=7 it should be set to 64.

 

uExterior Cell Buffer = ( uGridsToLoad + 1 )2

@ prod80 - Thanks for the reply! I put the changes in the ini file and tried the command but the console kept saying it didn't recognize 'timevalue' so i went and searched online and found the command to be 'set timescale to' which i tried with the values 10 and then 1 but all it did was make the sky update itself after a few seconds and the stars would suddenly jump a bit ahead every few seconds. So it just slowed down the problem, making it more apparent.

 

I'm getting around 60 fps at night, no stuttering and i just added the latest enbseries mod files with no presets and rerouted my FXAA d3d9.dll through the ENB and though no enb affects are active, my FPS in the day time just went from 25-30 to 50-60, just like that. And the FXAA injector was still working, i tested it.

 

So it's definitely not a performance issue, just saying.

oh yes, it's timescale, not value, sorry do a lot of Excel stuff :p

those settings to 00.00 in skyrim and timescale to 1 makes the time in game (and sky updates) go in realtime and smooth for me... weird that it wouldn't for you?

Just checked and those are the only settings I have related to the update time of the sky
