HELP - Stars and sky stuttering!

oh yes, it's timescale, not value, sorry do a lot of Excel stuff :P

those settings to 00.00 in skyrim and timescale to 1 makes the time in game (and sky updates) go in realtime and smooth for me... weird that it wouldn't for you?

Just checked and those are the only settings I have related to the update time of the sky

I also shifted the ugrids back to 5, but no change. :(

Watch in 720p full screen, sorry for vid quality best i could do in a short time. The problem is most apparent near the end of the video. As you can see fps is good and smoke and clouds are smooth, only stars are stuttering.

 

I've watched the video several times at 720p in full screen, and I can't see the problem you've described ("Stars not twinkling smoothly, sky moving in small fast jerky steps which is causing the stars to also move in small quick jerks").

 

It might be because the video is so short or because the point of view changes so rapidly.

 

Or it might be that this situation exists in my own game and I never noticed it or considered it a problem.

 

And given that the sky and shadows move in "small quick jerks" by default, I'm not sure how this is different from the default behavior or what you're expecting.

 

So I just (literally) don't see it, and I'm not sure how to offer any help.

 

My best suggestion is to upload a longer video that focuses exclusively on the sky for a few minutes so the problem can be more easily identified.

@ chevenga - New vid added, please check! As you will see, stars are going on and off in jerks while moving.

 

Even in this new video you may feel it is not apparent but that's due to the lower quality that Youtube changed it to. It's extremely jarring and apparent to me, and never happened before that's why i noticed it.

I'll upload both the original better quality vids onto mediafire or something now.

You have a sky texture mod, enhanced night skyrim, have you tried to turn it off just to check? and/or tried another texture (this one is awesome ... the low version (the other is just crazy big) ... choose saturation for what you have (enb or not): http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34886/ )

 

Yes sir, as i have posted earlier the problem persists even without COT, Enhanced night skyrim or FXAA injector! I'll give your mod a go and report back soon.

oh sorry missed that... replying on a few thread at the same time and getting some PM's as well :\ my brain is burning...

trying to think other causes for these stars turning off/on but since it's a whole texture it makes no sense whatsoever. we can try and rule out ini settings? make backup of your skyrim/skyrimprefs.ini - remove them and have the launcher rebuild them.

If you do that you have to start the launcher and reset you video card so it starts detecting again, then move everything back to Ultra or High, whichever is the highest setting - and disable FXAA/AA if you have ENB.

@ prod80 - Wow man, i really appreciate the time you've taken out to help me! :smile: I already tried launching it without any mods and with reset ini's but i'll give your settings a go anyway! Thanks a lot again!

 

I have an update on the issue (i haven't yet applied your settings) - On one side of the sky the stars are twinkling perfectly, fading in and out beautifully, but in the opposite side of the sky they are just blinking on and off very jarringly and noticeably. This has been happening since my first post.

@ prod80 - Ok, so i tested out your settings but no change, sorry! The funny thing is the stars far away nearer to the lower parts of the sky, nearer to the horizon are fading in and out beautifully as i've always seen them, but the ones right above my head straight up are just going crazy, blinking everywhere!

 

Looks like i'll have to restart my modding from scratch unless i find a fix soon, it's driving me crazy! :(

no need for that... disable your mods, start a new game run through helgen scene or console your way past it if you want - who cares its a new game so no harm to your real game.

when outside of helgen type "coc riverwood" in console or any other city/town you like to move there, create a save game for testing purposes and look up.

 

Enable you star/galaxy mod, look up

Start adding mods until you notice this issue and then try and pinpoint which mod.

 

 

Ok if you get issues right in vanilla world, then you should try things like validating your game files through Steam, perhaps it finds something. If not try and fiddle with the graphics settings
