Frontpage mods?

Before I say this I want to go on record and say that I am not discrediting any work that mod authors do, I know it is very hard to make body meshes and textures and I have the utmost respect for people who do it.

Has anyone else noticed that almost all of the frontpage mods have been either armor mods or nudity mods? Am I the only one who thinks that there should be more relevant mods on the frontpage?

I'm not saying that armor and nudity mods aren't legit or haven't gotten an insane amount of work put into them but that is all I have seen for the past 2 weeks, I'm not a twelve year old who is complaining because I can, I'm just sick of seeing the same types of mods on the frontpage all the time.

And I know I can turn adult content off but I don't want to do that

I just want to not have dicks in my face every single time I come on the nexus, Shouldn't there be more mods that are relevant to everybody instead of just those who use nudity and armor mods?

To each there own, but I know that I'm sick of digging through several mods I don't want to find one mod that I do, I know the Nexus is a free service and I appreciate the community and all the authors, and again I am not saying that they don't put a lot of work into the mods they do.

Maybe I am just complaining for the hell of it but I want to know what everyone else thinks about it.

So to recap:

1. I am not saying that the mod authors don't do good work

2. I am not discrediting the Nexus and I am glad to have such an awesome free service

3. I am not saying that these mods shouldn't be on the Nexus or don't deserve the frontpage, I just want a little less of them.

You can turn off adult content, but unfortunately you can't turn off stupid content like high heels, super model hair, catwalk, etc. You'll always run into facepalm-inducing mods here. There's just that many messed up people making mods, apparently.

Modders make what they want. Mod users download and endorse what they want. You may not agree with a mod (or a particular type of mod) that makes it to the front page hot files, but enough people did agree with it to get it there. As long as people want that sort of thing, it will be made. There is not likely to become less of them. The only viable way to counteract seeing them constantly hitting the hot files would be to increase the numbers of other types of mods that are good enough and well-liked enough to make it to the front page.

I wouldn't call mod-makers, people who spend countless hours creating something, to release it on the internet, completely free of charge, "messed up". I also wouldn't call it "stupid content". Perhaps you don't like it, but obviously quite a number of people do. Perhaps you feel it does not belong in Skyrim. Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong. In the case of you feeling that it does not belong in your Skyrim, you are definitely right. That cannot be said, however, for my copy of the game, however. Nor can you say that of the copies of the game belonging to any other person. People can put into their game whatever they so choose, and simply ignore the rest. The game of Skyrim has become more than just a game, with a story-line to be played out. It has become a canvas, upon which the players, mod-makers, and mod-users can paint whatever they so desire. You would not walk up to an artist and tell her that she should not paint a certain shade of blue upon her work, would you?

You'll also run in to plenty of prudes and/or intolerant folk as well. We're quite multicultural here; we have all sorts of idiots.

I'm glad you guys responded and again I'm not saying that the mods people make are somehow inferior, I'm just sick of looking over several pages of mods to find one that I like and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same, I'm not asking you change anything and I didn't mean to sound like an asshole

I'm aware that the blocked content tags aren't working for the hot files, but they do work when browsing the file database. Have you blocked any content tags?

These mods are made for and by the people who perpetuate the misogynistic character design that crops up in almost every video game, especially fantasy RPGs, which actually does affect me. If we didn't have these stereotypical nerdy guys drooling over unrealistically large breasts, illogical clothing and armor design, high socks, high heels, professionally styled hair and makeup, super model walking animations, and every other vice they feel the need to shoehorn into video games, perhaps developers wouldn't put them in anymore and I could actually make a female character who looks like she exists in a real world and not some hentai school girl.

If this was just a weird, isolated, Skyrim Nexus fad, maybe you'd have a point.

I actually slightly feel the same way. I don't want to block it entirely because I still want to be able to see it, but I don't want the front page to only have those type of mods all the time. It's tiring seeing nude mods on the front page every single day. Sure I can disable it, but then that means I will not be able to browse them with out having to go back in to turn it back on.

I also don't have any issues with these mods, but I am tired of feeling like I just browsed to a porn site >.> every time I go to the front page.

Is there a way to filter what shows up on the front page without turning off adult content entirely?

I'd rather see a more dynamic Hot Files feature. Something that you can choose which category to display or have it by default display each category for 5-10 minutes before moving on to the next. Not a fool proof solution to getting those lost gems dredged up amidst the typical visually appealing mods, but it would be a great start. I'd even be alright with it if there were just more featured files to check out within the subcategory pages. There's a lot of cool stuff lurking in the dark corners of the database, but it stays hidden with little to no light being shone in that direction.
