Thanks to HadToRegister I can make new categories, but,

can not make Vortex retain my new categories in the order I set up.

Thus Vortex not working for new added categories. Vortex keeps reverting back to original master category list. Loosing all saved sorting.

Is there a way to delete the master list and make your own user master category list in Vortex ?

the master list comes from LOOT. You could ask on their discord, but from vortex there's no way to delete the master list.

when you say vortex isnt retaining your new categories - whats happening?

i too am slightly confused.

mods can be organised into categories.

plugins can be organised into groups.

categories <> groups.

the master list is a LOOT construct and cannot be deleted by Vortex.

If you are assigning plugins to groups - i have to ask - to what end? what would your goal be if you're doing that?

assigning plugins to groups is not the same thing as assigning a mod to a category. there are distinct differences which can break your game if you're confusing the two?

i'd ask you to explain what you are trying to accomplish with your group assignments.

I am not changing anything with Vortex groups.

I am trying to organize by load order by the groups. ie - after sorting on vortex all plugins should be sorted by the groups (DLC,CC,etc.)

So when I view plugin after sort, all should be organized by the groups.

I am not seeing this. I see CC content after DLC, then CC again later down the list after other plugins. Should not the CC content be together ?

I can not change Loot sort order.

There seems to be an issue in Vortex not sorting groups together properly as mentioned above.

Vortex – Plugins – Manage groups –

When you install mod from Nexus (ex-Weapons) it uses Nexus mod groups, then when you go to plugins to find them their placed under “Default” from your plugins groups menu because the mod group does not exist in plugins group.
So they all seem to say Default, should not plugins match Mod categories which line up with Nexus categories ?

This is the main issue - Plugins are using a separate group naming system

Another ex – Mod “True Storms -” category - weather and lighting, under plugins it only says “Default”
Why don’t the plugins Category match and say “weather and Lighting” not just Default.

cc content is mostly esl and that is allocated to x'FE' in the load order and cannot be changed.

can i ask you why are you trying to do this? it seems to be an exercise in futility?

DO NOT try and get your Plugin GROUPS to match the Mod CATEGORIES.

GROUPS are another Method of Sorting, and they work differently from the Categories on the Mod Page.

Do NOT waste your efforts getting Mods (Categories) and Plugins (Groups) to match

Besides, ESLs do NOT sort normally.

I know you want your load order to be perfect, but it's not going to happen, if your game is running fine with all your mods, STOP TRYING TO MAKE YOUR LOAD ORDER LOOK PRETTY, and just play.
