[VISUAL MOD-RELATED BUG] Missing Fire Textures & Bald Geralt

Recommended Posts

Hello dear modding community,

since installing a few mods for The Witcher 3, I've been experiencing very strange and ultra annoying visual bugs that apparently no one in the world has had before. :pinch:

Apparently Geralt's hair is not rendered in, although I haven't installed a single hairstyle mod! (WTF???)

Fire textures/meshes (whatever) are missing too, only the light is apparent.

The rain looks very ugly too, but i'm not sure if it's also a bug or supposed to be look like this...

I'm running the 1.32 GOG GOTY version.

I've installed the whole Community Patch stuff.

I'm using Vortex for modding.

Script Merger is showing no errors, except the standard "Bundled Text - Not Mergeable" stuff.

I've already done all the standard things that should be done when errors like this occur (reinstalling mods several times, verify game files several times, deleting .settings files, etc.),

but none of that helped.

Since I'm new to modding Witcher 3 and these mistakes currenty ruin my first run ever in this game and I've already wasted hours on this problem, I'm now taking the last resort and asking you for help.

Anyway, please help me kindly

Kind regards

Hi,

might be a little late but maybe there is someone out there who needs this.

I had exactly the same problem. My Geralt lost his Hair after I manually installed some mods.

I am running Witcher 3 on Steam.

Here is the solution (Steam) that worked for me:

1. Make sure your mods.settings file is actually a .settings File

If you create it as a .txt File, it will not work.

2. Make sure your mods.settings File is in the correct Directory.

In all the Installations Instructions that modders put on their Mod Pages, it never states that the mods.settings File does not go into the "mods" Order in your Steam/Steamapp/Common/TheWitcher3 Directory.

Instead you have to put the mods.settings File into this Directory: C:(YourLocalHarddriveName)/Users/(username)/My Documents/Witcher3

3. After I figured this out I was able to disable Mods to see which Mods caused this conflict.

If you disable Mods make sure to run your Script Merger everytime to merge or delete merged mods.

The Hairloss was caused by running the "HD Reworked Project" Mod together with the "Besserwisser and Nitpicker" Mod.

I disabled the "Besserwisser" Mod, ran the Script Merger to delete the merged files and after that Geralt had recovered from his Hairloss.

MfG
