My touchpad is glitching out when I play Skyrim SE

I just bought a new gaming laptop. It's a MSI GF65 Thin.

The pre game menu has no problems.

The ingame menu is a real nightmare. The main options on the left side of the menu are fine but any submenu to the right is nearly impossible to activate. I also constant menu mouse sounds like the menu options are changing rapidly. Also if I manage to get into the settings menu with sliders I can see that any slider I point to moves rapidly to the left. I can also see the slider struggle a lot if I try to move it to the right.

Because of this glitch using the keybord does not work.

This has only happened in Skyrim so far. It does not happen in the other games i have tried. It doesn't happen outside gaming either.

Thank you.

Your suggestion put me on the right track.

First I tried to lower the settings as you said, but since I had to set everything to low that was not a good solution.

Then I thought maybe it had to to with the framerate which I then set to 60 with nvidia settings.

It seems that solved my problem.

Too bad you can't fully use a fast screen with Skyrim.

The framerate killer I always turn OFF or LOW is Shadows.

But, as you said, you already had everything set to low.

That usually does enough to let me leave every other setting where it is.

Glad it's improved for you though.

YES, that was it.

Shadow distance set to medium did it. Everything else is set to ultra or high.

Now the controls works perfectly and I don't have to limit the framerate.

That was really helpful. Thanks again.

But were you talking about laggy gameplay because of too high settings?

I posted that too soon.

The problem seemed like it was solved but it had to be temporary luck.

Now it is almost as bad as before, with the only difference that the keybord movement keys sort of works as long as I don't touch Quit in the menu. That makes the controls behave like before.

The sliders still moves by themselves when I hover the mouse pointer over them.

I still can't activate sub menu options with the touchpad since they only go white for a fraction of a second.

Also, just to be clear this laptop is quite strong. It runs Skyrim on ultra with no lag at all.

My problem is only with the touchpad controls in game and menus.

Can you disable the touchpad while you use a mouse for the game?

It sounds like BOTH are fighting for control
