Why would you record FRAPs with 120 fps avi files? You can't realistically use that in post-editing and it would be understandable that might lag out a video editor if your machine can't handle it.

 

I think that was the performance problem right there.

 

I'd try them both again, with more reasonable settings, 720p, set the same recording framerates and then see how they both act in video editing.

For Youtube videos it's not worth doing any more than 30FPS and there's no reason whatsoever to record at any more than 60FPS. Professional editing hardware would struggle with that FRAPS file. HD video editing is very resource intensive, don't capture more than you need to, it's just going to slow the editing process down.
