Serfs of Skyrim/Multiple Stewards [Hearthfire]

Summary: A mod that allows the recruitment of servants/serfs to do menial labour at your Hearthfire homesteads.

It's great to build a bunch of homesteads and become a "Land Baron" in Hearthfire, but other than 3 Stewards (one for each new homestead) and some adopted kids, there aren't too many people to be a baron of.

While the Stewards will roam around the grounds and do work occasionally, it would be nice to be able to recruit serfs/servants to toil on my land, sweep my floors, cooks in my kitchens, and mend my armour.

After all, even though there's plenty of work to get done on the homestead, the Dragon Born has bigger fish to fry...

A combination of a multiple follower mod and the "my home is your home" mod can help with this. Granted, the "my home is your home" mod already has some "you can relax/work here/guard here" options, but it would be nice to have a specific purpose serf/servant creation mod. It would also be nice to control what kind of works gets done, and when.

I imagine something that piggybacks on the existing steward recruitment dialogue would work, where even after getting a steward, a follower brought to one of your homes asks if the player needs a steward. If a steward already exists, the player can say something like "I already have one, but if you need a place to stay, you may join my household as a servant/serf. You will eat of my bread and salt, and enjoy my protection. In return, you must serve me faithfully."

Once joined to your household, instead of having the full steward options (furnish home, buy materials, etc), the options for a servant could be along the lines of:

-Go do some farm work (tend crop animation, work the flour mill, hang out at the fishery or bee hive)

-Go do some yard work (Chop wood, mine clay/stone)

-Go work indoors (Cook in kitchen/cookpots, sweep floors, tend to greenhouse, use alchemy tables and arcane enchanters)

-Go mend my armour (forge/grindstone/workbench animations)

-Go clean out the stables (use of forge shovel animation in the stable?)

-Go on guard duty tonight (roam the grounds in the evening)

-Go to the cellar and stay there until I need you (relaxes in cellar/does random work anims in cellar)

-Go relax, you've worked enough today (npc goes inside to relax)

Other than the evening specific guard duty option, the animation(s) could run for say... the remainder of the day to sunset, after which your serf(s) will relax in the evening and wake up to do random work/rest until told to do a specific task again.

A few times a day the serfs get to rest, eat, etc for say an hour of in-game time. Also, I suppose serfs will need a place to sleep, which you may not have. Perhaps an option to build some sleeping mats in a corner of the cellar?

Does anyone think this is doable, or desirable?

That sounds great, I was actually just searching for a mod like this when I came across your post. Since I have a ton of added houses, they almost seem empty when I try and look around for my children, I just see a lot of stone. Almost as if there should be cobwebs, instead of a family living at the home. I would love more customization in this area. I love that Skyrim is more of a sandbox game, and I even would enjoy more Sandboxing on things such as horses, companions, Multiple Wives, Being able to actually have a full staff of guards to live in my barracks. Ect.
