Armor nif, and nifskope problems

ok, so heres the deal. somewhat of a newbie when it comes to using nifskope. and heres what im trying to do. im trying to make an armor for my orc, i started off using the basic briarheart armor, but whenever i equiped it, it just crashed my game. i changed this about 20 times, in different levels of being unpacked. i finally decided to use just the bandit fur armor kilt, and will plan on just adding some skulls, and some bones later on. but i made a semi-breast plate out of a troll skull and some tusks. sadly, these do not show up on my orc when i equip it. it only shows the base skin. it works on humans, and shows up fine in the CK, until i apply it to an orc. havent checked other races, but they are inconsequential at this time.

also, my textures do not show up in nifskope, if anyone knows how i can fix that i would love it very much.

it is supposedly retrieving from the correct folder, but is not applying them. this is a secondary issue, easily worked around, but none-the-less, would love any help on either subject.

I've had trouble with this as well, but I think I've worked it out. I placed the NIFS I wanted to modify within the Skyrim directory along with the textures I wanted to associate with them.

Then I opened up Nifskope and the textures were showing up perfectly well. If that isn't the case, then its usually because the texture path has been changed if you moved the NIF while working on it. Basically all you need to do is find the BSHADER node, if I'm remembering the name correctly, and you'll find a purple gear icon. Then you click that and you can choose the texture you need!
