Unlike the Targe, which has spikes on the front for direct bashing, the Pavise's spike is on the side, so it would have to be more of a punching action, which would probably involve some extra modifications to the animation for it.A bash works fairly quickly, while a punch takes a little longer to throw out. It certainly gets more reach and has greater damage potential in real life, but it would leave you more open to your opponents countering you, especially if you're facing a group.
